12-25-2023 First time visit. We had flown in for a vacation earlier in the day. They were extremely busy on Christmas day. I was quite amazed at how many online orders were coming in. When one comes in, it announces out loud a online order was placed. I think that's a very smart idea. While sitting there I heard at least 15 online orders come in. They do also have a drive thru. The wait was about 45 minutes for the order to be made. They did make everyone aware of the wait time. Their restaurant is tucked in the corner of a plaza. They had about 7 or 8 tables. The inside really needs a total refresh. It's very tired and old. The photos for dishes on the wall are so faded you can barely tell what's in the dish. I ordered the sesame chicken and pork egg rolls. Wife had sesame chicken and crab rangoon. The sesame chicken was average in flavor. The chicken was good. There was plenty of sauce in the sesame chicken, just not rich in flavor. The portion size was very good. My wife commented that the portion size is enough for two meals. The pork egg rolls were the smallest I've ever had from a Chinese restaurant. The flavor was average. I did encounter some gristle in one of the egg rolls from the pork. The fried rice was decent. Overall, I would say this was simply an average meal, and nothing stood out as rich in flavor or memorable. Based on other reviews, those who are rating the actual food are giving more realistic star averages. It seems those who are rating how nice the people are who own it give much higher star averages, even though they do say the food is average. We just love Ching, the owner, she is so friendly and welcoming. This was my moms favorite place to go for lunch, and Ching would always make a point of sitting down and talking to her. We LOVE First Wok. We used to eat at another local Chinese food place, but they closed their doors on Sunday. Well, Sunday is Chinese food night! Closing on Chinese food night is unacceptable! The staff is very friendly and has a great memory. After only a couple visits they knew our orders and our faces. The price is very reasonable and most importantly - the food is delicious. I've not ordered anything "bad" from this place. They have a drive-thru for call ahead orders so you don't even have to get out of the car if you don't want to. They also deliver locally within a limited area. If you get the chance to try the food, I highly recommend them! read more

I usually love this place but today... wow. HORRIBLE! The crab Rangoon a were so off. They tasted terrible.. spoiled almost. The rice was still crunchy.. the chicken in the moo goo gai pan was so big and had a hard texture. Couldn't even eat my meal. The only thing that tasted good was the spring roll. As a follow-up to my first visit here I decided to bring the whole family here. My big family (well 6 people you decide) took up a large part of this small restaurant. No worries though as the staff handled it beautifully. We got a big order of crab rangoon for the table. Pretty good although like I said the first time it's more cream cheese rangoon than crab rangoon. My entree was the Orange Chicken. It was a decent take although I prefer more of a citrus punch in orange chicken than this provided as it was more on the sweet side. Still not bad though as the chicken is huge, juicy pieces and they provide a lot of the orange sauce. Lots of broccoli rounds out the dish. The rest of my family all enjoyed their dishes with the Egg Foo Young making honourable mention. As I said the first time there are better Chinese restaurants out there but this one holds its own and is on the inexpensive side which helps. read more

I use to love this place but for some reason the bourbon chicken tasted awful and smelled like garbage. My fiancé ordered chicken Lo Main, she spit it out and reorder sesame chicken. A few bites and a realization that this visit was disappointing. Crab Ragoons were ok, not amazing like usual. Also the weirdest thing, the spring rolls were much bigger than normal and ok also. I made the mistake of reading a review here on Yelp about a new Chinese place in Florence (that was given great reviews!) and thought, "yes, that's what I'll have tonight for dinner. Carryout = time to clean my house!." But, since I had some other stops to make (i.e. Kroger), I decided to kill two birds with one stone and stop at 1st Wok. I've been here in the past and I can't say that I actually recall "what" I remembered about the food, so I came in with an open mind. I ordered Crab Rangoon and Szechaun Chicken with steamed rice. I had hoped for a spicy pork, but they only had 2 pork dishes and neither were in "red", denoting spicy. After ordering, I noticed at the bottom of the menu that they would make any dish spicy, but I didn't want to be a bother. The service was friendly and fast, and I got my shopping at Kroger done while the food was being prepared. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a letdown. Zucchini is not a preferred asian vegetable for me. The chicken was tender, but almost a little "too" tender--seemed even slimy, and while the dish was a bit spicy, it had this offputting red color and somewhat vinegar flavor that I experienced at Amerasia, which makes me think that distributors of sauces have changed recipes or this is some new (and awful) trend in American-Asian food. The crab rangoon was a heavy wonton wrap, but fried and not left to drain as well as they should have been. By the time I drove the 5 minutes home, the texture had turned "gummy", like 3 day old pie crust that's been in the fridge. Just not what you want in a crab rangoon! read more

They are my go-to Chinese joint for take out. I can't count how many times we have been there over the last 5+ years. Usually the food is VERY consistent in flavor, the amount you get, the quality, etc. In the past..it TOTALLY was - and probably will be in the future. Our problem was trying to find a take-out joint on labor day. We tried Greek To Me but they were closed. First Wok was open but I think it must have been their backup staff.. The pad thai was TERRIBLE - no sauce what-so-ever - very little flavor. had flavor complaints from other dishes. This is VERY rare from First Wok - normally the food is great. I personally had the sesame chicken and it was almost what I expect - stil a bit bland. My mother had the fried rice wither her lunch portion meal and it looked and tasted like boiled yellow rice. was *NOT* fried rice and very obviously so. I am a fan of first wok and will give them more chances but I can honestly say I was not impressed by this labor day meal. read more

Not again. Any frozen entree from the Kroger next door would be better at a lower price. Tried three entrees, and only the sweet and sour chicken was edible. The beef and broccoli was so tough, I 'm still chewing it from last evening's dinner. The kung pao chicken was spicy, but an odd choice of ingredients given same dish at other restaurants. Fried rice was not good - very dry, again any attempt at minute rice would trump this dish. Egg rolls were overcooked, making them hard, dry and inedible. My kids are normally excited about ordering chinese. Nobody enjoyed nor finished their meals - what a waste. read more

I love this place. It's kinda pushed back in a corner by Kroger and hard to spot but definitely worth it. I haven't found a Chinese restaurant this good since China Garden in Middletown 10 years ago. At most others the quality differs but here it's consistent and fresh every single time! The staff is very friendly as well. Easy place to go for takeout, they even have a drive through. The food is your standard generic Americanized chinese food. I've never eaten there but I've been inside and it's clean and the service seems to be friendly. The food comes in large portions and is reasonably priced. So I've been going to this restaurant off and on for years. The food is really good, but they are extremely dishonest. The last time I went I paid with a credit card and tipped. When I later compared my bank statement with the amount, I saw that they added more to the tip than I put. I let it slide, I thought maybe it was a mistake. Now i'm starting to think otherwise because I was in there last Wednesday and I paid with my credit card. Once again, they changed the tip. My advice: if you go, only pay with cash. read more
