They will gladly help you understand what ingredients are involved in various dishes. Most items are pretty standard names. I usually get the "Royal with Fried Rice" and add an egg roll. It rather mild with chicken, beef, shrimp, and artificial crab. My wife gets some sort of pineapple rice that has peanuts on it. She really likes the tofu depending on her tastebuds. Egg rolls are perfect and skewered chicken is definitely a great choice. General Tso's use to be my go to, but it fills me up too much. It's very good but I've just had to back off. We go here probably on average every 20 days. Food is always very fresh. It's just really, really. We see some of the same people eating in there on a routine basis so you know it has a following. I liked the bento box. The tempura vegetables tasted fresh. The shrimp was cooked well. With the rice side and California roll, I was more than satisfied with the meal. I think in order for my review to be helpful to anyone who reads it, it'll be better if you had some more background on the person writing it. I'm of Asian decent (not Chinese) whose parents used to own an asian market so I am well adept to different styles, products, and quality used in a lot of Asian cooking. Just to add on, I'm a 22 year old college student who has had a lot of different Chinese food from a random assortment of places (locally in Indiana, New York City, San Francisco etc.) Coming into this, of course I wasn't expecting the best Chinese food I have ever had, but was shooting for at least average. I ordered the General Tso's chicken with two crab ragoons and the fried rice. After finishing my meal I would say I was mildly disappointed. The chicken was cooked up to par, but the flavoring was very mild (in a bad way) and the sauce seemed to be made through a base of commercial sweet and sour sauce. When it comes to Chinese food for me, I think a little more authenticity can at least push the dishes to an average level, and if you're expecting the best Chinese food ever you'll have to shell up the big bucks for that at a big city restaurant. The fried rice gave off a similar impression to me as it was something I would label below average. Factoring the price into it (~ $5.50), I would still say the overall rating of the food for me was 2/5 stars. Unfortunately, I would rather spend my 5 bucks elsewhere like a small meal from Baesler's next time. I am willing to try one other dish from this locale with the hope that there is a good dish on the menu, but this review is based off my experience so far. read more

Went back on grand reopening, my family and I were refused service. We were greated at the door by a oriental man yelling at us to go away come back after four. My daughter cried from the man yelling so violently at us upon our arrival. We all looked so forward to this resturant reopening, but never expected to be greeted in such a foul manner. I personally once loved this establishment, but now I have deeply mixed feelings. I understand that the place was very busy, but that employees behavior is completely unacceptable. I felt like I walked into an old Seinfeld rerun and found myself and my family being attacked by the Soup Nazi. read more

Not satisfied at all. Others recommended it. The wonton soup was overcooked and mush, the beef was stringy with fat, and nothing including the rice was good enough for me to even want to finish. My 2 year old daughter didn't even want to eat it. read more

Just enjoyed a fine meal of Cashew Chicken. Probably the 52 time I've eaten from The First Wok in the past 16 years. Food is delicious and affordable. I recommend you try them if you haven't already. read more
