Horrible house we built 8yrs ago. Examples to name a few: Entire window fell out, flooding because of patio door installed wrong, had to gut entire master bath du to mold, front door replaced because of seeing light all the way around and all new HVAC because the one the builder put in locked up and HAD to be replaced. We bought our new home (Leland model) from Fischer Homes, in Pickerington, Ohio (Chesapeake), and the experience has been wonderful. Our first point of contact was Sales Counselor Sheri M., a very capable professional who answered dozens of questions about the many Fischer Homes neighborhoods and models throughout the Central Ohio Area. On the day that we were finally ready to sign our contract, and although her workday had already reached an end, Sheri M. followed us to another Fischer Homes community so that we could be inside the same Leland model home that we were going to buy while we wrote up the contract. This was extremely helpful as it permitted us to visualize many of the upgrades and get a more accurate estimate prior to the design center phase. Sheri M. worked with us for a good three (3) hours after her workday had ended and this was an amazing start to our Fischer Homes build experience! Mind you, the Fischer Homes Design Center in Dublin is loaded with options, giving customers a wealth of choices with which to personalize a new home. Annie S. was not only well-versed in all of the available options, but she possessed a rather impressive knack for design too. We felt that she really grasped our design vision and expertly offered options whenever we deferred a tough design decision to her. We greatly appreciated her patience and guidance as we spent a good eight (8) hours designing in intricate detail. Lastly, Annie S. made sure to inform us of the quiet period, by which designs are being made behind the scenes and then are forwarded for permitting. Not very long thereafter, we were provided a meet and greet opportunity with Superintendent Steve F. I've worked with builders, contractors, and tradespersons for years, but I've never met a more knowledgeable, professional and resourceful young man than him. I simply cannot convey enough compliments about Steve F. From our very first meeting, he seemed deeply familiar with our upgrades and the intricacies of our customizations. Steve F. provided us with a clear understanding of build timeline expectations and kept us informed with weekly updates after ground was broken. His oversight of our build was second to none, and he just knocked my socks off at final walkthrough by pointing out touch-up opportunities that I was going to miss. For as busy as he was, it remained undeniably clear that he cares about quality, service, reputation and satisfaction. Steve F. even helped source answers for several questions that were outside of the scope of our build, and best of all, when he says he's going to do something, he absolutely follows through. Fast forward one year after closing on our home, and we had arrived at the one-year walkthrough with Customer Care Manager David F. Yet again, I only have great things to say about this man. He expertly and promptly addressed all items on my list of concerns, and repeatedly proved via his phone and e-mail correspondence (as well as actions) that Fischer Homes is all about delivering a quality-driven and satisfying customer experience. Final Thoughts: No custom home build is perfect, ever. There are hundreds of suppliers that a home builder works with to secure materials for a build. Coordinating it all can truly be an art. Fischer Homes made it look easy, and this was as close to a perfect experience as anyone could ever hope for. On the rare occasion that something needed attention, the communication was there and deliverables were always managed expeditiously. Thank you Fischer Homes crew! Fischer Homes will do anything to get you to sign a contract to build with them- and that contract is 150% in their favor and not yours. Fischer's overly aggressive agent pressured us into signing a contract by using sales incentives and discount "deadlines". Once we were well into the selection process it was uncovered that 1) there was a major commercial project being planned around the corner from our home and 2) there was a waste-water treatment plant in our backyard. The agent neglected to tell us these things. We requested to be released from our contract long before ground was broken on our home. After many threats from their in-house consel, Fischer let us out of the contract but refused to return ou $20,000 deposit even though they never spent a dime. Run as fast as you can and choose another builder; deal with Fischer Homes at your own peril. read more

I built a home with Fischer Homes that was completed in November '17. My husband had previously built with them years prior and had a great experience so naturally they were our top choice. At first, everything was great during the buying process. We learned that they do NOT negotiate on price, so good luck on your overpriced home, home buyers! At first our superintendent was great, but throughout the build process he really started dropping the ball. Two weeks before we were set to close, he left Fischer with a laundry list of items that should've been taken care of weeks prior. We had so many outstanding items that he hadn't taken care of, but somehow the majority of the items were taken care of by the superintendent who was put in charge of filling in for him. However, there were some items that needed to be taken care of after closing and that's where the problems really started. The temp. superintendent, Ryan, assured us that everything that needed done would be taken care of correctly (what a joke) and that he "wanted to build us a quality home". I believed this at the time, but I believe none of it now. Our floors were noisy all over our home and we soon learned from having different vendors in, that our gas line was never secured in our basement. That's a little scary. We had had this odd "bonking" noise in our foyer, between our two front bedrooms (we only have a three bedroom ranch) that Ryan and his eventual replacement for our 3rd superintendent, Alex, said was the gas line or hvac system. From the get-go, from day 1, I told them it was the floorboards hitting one another. You could just hear the sound of it and I knew it wasn't the gas line or hvac system which was directly below this part of the floor. After having vendors out to try and fix the hvac and gas lines to fix the noise in this spot and not making a dent in the noise, Alex sent us an email saying Fischer had done everything in their power to fix the noise and they were basically washing their hands of us. Well, that's funny because we're still well within our warranty period (I've still only lived in my BRAND NEW HOME for 6 months and Fischer brags about what a great 12-month warranty they have) and they've been fixing the wrong problem all along and I had been telling them that!!!! So they've just told me that I have to live with this noise that runs between 2 out of 3 of my bedrooms every single time I want to go into one of them, use my front bathroom (I only have 2 bathrooms) or go to my front door or basement. You're kidding me right? And I just paid over a quarter of a million dollars for this house that wasn't put together right and sounds like it's falling apart??? And better yet...I've lived in this LOVELY home for now over 6 months and it's going into the month of June and they still haven't put in sod, my trees/bushes or finished painting the exterior or my house. I have weeds growing up to my knees in my front yard and my home is a TOTAL EYESORE. No one at Fischer will return my phone calls or emails because they're simply too busy selling new, overpriced homes to new suckers that they will eventually pull the same crap on as well and they will get to deal with Fischer's bullshit. If you're thinking of buying a Fischer home, RUN, DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM THEIR SALES OFFICE AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I've never seen a company care less about customers once they have your money as this company does. Every single one of my neighbors is just as fed up with Fischer as I am and vows to never build with them again. read more

We are currently building with Fischer Homes and have to say I had great hopes it would be a good relationship. Moving thru the process I am finding this is very much a one sided relationship. While going the the design process I made it very clear what my vision was for my home. We are now finding out that Fischer homes did have the ability to assist me with some of the design characteristic however elected to not share them with me. Fischer Homes has now advised it is the buyers responsibility to know what is possible regarding the design and make the request of them. Even though you initially made them aware of what you wanted to do. I am a believer that we never stop learning. Just because this is the way you run your business now does not mean that we cannot make changes in the future. Had I been advised of the possibilities I would have spent more money with Fischer Homes when going thru the design process as there would have been a cost associated with those changes. After speaking with many members of Fischer Homes management and communication with their executive board I am being told this is their business model and if buyer does not align with them they are not willing to consider changing their design process to make the buyer aware of the possibilities they have when building with them. read more

Worst experience I've ever had. I was told my house would be done the end of June by my sakes contact and the woman at my selections meeting. It was obvious they hadn't actually talked to the builder because when I told him that he said he doesn't know why they'd tell me that. House wasn't done until the end of July. Did my walk through and had tons on that list. There was still a lot not done during the final walk through. I was told to give it two weeks at most. Here it is, September and the only thing done is the attic stairs. There are always excuses as to why something hasn't been done. Bob (superintendent) has been incredible. But everyone else is a complete joke. I will never build with them again and I've already told two of my friends to look at other builders. Everything moves fast when it comes to signing papers but once that's done, they don't care about getting your house built. My advice? Don't go with Fischer. I wish I would've listened to the reviews! read more
