Very rude, sick animals, they don't acquire puppies from reputable breeders they acquire them from unlicensed breeders (people at home) not one akc or ukc registered fish tanks filled with dead fish ect it isn't somewhere u would want to get ur next pet from not to mention the prices of anything there is absurdly higher then anywhere else considering the state of everything. read more

Hi so I usually don't have a big problem with fish bowl but I want to see if it is just me that this has happened to or bcz I'm pretty upset. So here's what happened. We went on Wednesday evening to get my Gekos food while looking at the puppies I saw one that is absolutely adorable. Now nothing wrong yet.... Friday comes and I go back to see the puppy again and I see that a girl who is the same age as me holding a puppy. I say awww so cute and she said yeah I know right the lady let me hold her. I ask what? She says yeah this isn't our dog I just asked to hold him and she said yes. So I ask to hold the puppy that I was eying and she looked me in the face and very rudley she said god no! I was out with my therapeutic mentor and she knew the girl bcz she taught her gymnastics but the girl who was holding the dog was shocked. And so was my mentor. If you're going to let one kid hold a dog let the others hold them and if not don't let one person hold them at all. read more

In my years of keeping fish i never thought a fish could get sick so fast. I bought an amazon puffer off them. To start, unlike any other fish store in the area, they DONT deworm the fish. Not deworming a wild caught fish and charging them at a price for a already dewormed fish is ridiculous. Within the first 2 days it showed extreme signs of ich. Quarentined it and it wont eat at all. Just gonna give it back and move on. I wouldn't be upset if the man told me how to deworm and care for them because I made it clear I never owned one of them. Waste of time and money. read more

I have been coming to Fish Bowl for several years now. They are now my primary fish store. I have purchased everything from water, to coral, to salt, chemicals, and even decorations. I know that whatever I buy I will get a good price on a quality product. One of the cool things about owning a reef tank is the fact that many things grow and will eventually need to be split and sold off. I know that I will be offered the absolute best price from these guys as well. The owner and staff are all super friendly and amazing! They have such a large variety of fish and supplies and great prices there really isn't a need to go anywhere else! read more

Bought a nice hunk of driftwood and two angel fish here two days ago.. Since then I have lost three fish and the rest clearly have ich. I am sure the ich came from the angels as my tank was stable and beautiful with healthy fish before introducing them. I also noticed spots on them before any other fish were showing signs. I regret not quarantining them, but I would like to think that it's perfectly normal to assume they sell HEALTHY fish. I am also baffled that they are out here selling sick fish while badmouthing another local fish store about their prices. I'll be bringing the angels back tomorrow and expecting not only a full refund but also some form of compensation for the Senegal Bichir, dwarf gourami (soon to be two), serpae tetra, and my albino bristlenose that's now on his last leg (ich tends to kill bottom feeders first). PLEASE save your tanks and do not buy fish here!! Update: I called about the ich, and the employee told us to come in with a water sample so she can give us some ich remedy. When we went in she tested our water and the ammonia levels happened to be a little high, which lead her to interrogate us about the tank and how we maintained it (mind you we just lost 4 fish to the ich which is more then likely the reason that it was high to begin with) And basically just told us "yeah a lot of your fish are about to die" and shrugged and that was all she offered. She never apologized. Would have at least liked a "return the infected angels and will replace maybe one or two of the fish you lost,or even any sort of kind gesture would have been appreciated. Instead she handed me a 6 dollar bottle of ich solution and basically said good luck. read more

I usually don't do this but this place definitely deserves it. *Fishbowl on pleasant st: GARBAGE!!! *Customer Service: GARBAGE!!! *Product Quality: GARBAGE!!! 3rd time (Shame on me) purchasing a box of crickets to find out the majority are dead. Went to Fishbowl yesterday to purchase 300 crickets and was offered a box of a 1000 crickets that was left over from the last order. When i opened the box at home half of the box was dead (3rd box in a row). I called fish bowl to see if i could get a refund on at least 1 of 3 boxes that i purchased. The manager and a staff member both told me that usually with the boxes that are left over and sit around the crickets die as the days go on. So knowing these crickets were already dying they sold them to me anyway. I was never told this at the time of purchase, And was denied a refund and was told "you get what you get". It hurts my heart to learn that my $900 dog from the Fish Bowl in West Warwick is inbred. I thought it was me as an owner not doing something right but it's not me, it's the wiring in his brain because his parents were probably brother and sister or mother and son. It fucking kills me that he is the way he is. Always on edge, always anxious. When I went to work on the day that I bought him, he was basically fucking dead. I spent my four hour shift making sure he ate and drank. I gave him medicine and supplements to ensure he would live! And he did!! But is he living his best life always nervous that I'm not going to come home? Afraid that he is going to be left alone to die?! Who knows, but everyday I try my fucking hardest to make sure he is happy! I love my Whiskey Richard so much but he sure does give us a run for our money. I tried to warn people on the page but I was blocked and now I cannot make a difference. I'm writing this in hopes that word will get around and people will stop buying puppies from this place. I stopped in here the other day after google searching stores with aquarium supplies in the area. The website seemed to have a lot of information and I was excited to find a new location for purchasing aquarium supplies that might be better than other places I've visited. I was wrong. The store is located inside a warehouse with a few other discount stores with knick knacks and furniture. Inside the pet store I was disappointed to find some fish that were dead in the tanks and not much of a selection to choose from. There seemed to be only one staff member in the store so maybe this was why the aquariums weren't well watched. They had puppies in the back room but I didn't go in there. After quickly scanning over the small selection of fish and the conditions I left quickly. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Went in there to get turtle food today and stood at the register for 15 minutes casually walking back and forth hoping someone would come cash me out. I knocked on several doors that said "employees only" and no one came. I ended up putting my stuff back and leaving. How is this place still in business? Dirty wet floors and the smell was horrible. I walked by the betta fish which were in plastic bags (not cups or bowls) with barely any water. Some of the bags were laying sideways that the fish couldn't even get water or swim, instead left to die. I also walked by the dog section, and there was a poor puppy playing in poopy newspaper shreds. His feet were dirty like he's been playing in the mud and you could see that his hair hadn't been brushed because it was matted together. They were selling him for $1,100 (overpriced and not taken care of). Shut this place down, animal cruelty and customer service doesn't exist here. read more

Bought a pair of onyx clown fish from them. Great looking healthy fish I might add. The customer service was great and the owner and his employees were very helpful and knowledgable. The only negative thing I can say about this place is where it is located (kinda back ally off a oneway, and parking kinda sucks). Great place and experience overall, and I would recommend them to anyone in the freshwater/saltwater hobby. (10yrs experience in FW and 6yrs experience in SW... That way someone can't say I just got in and don't know what a good LFS is.) read more

Even though my sister and I had difficulty finding this little pet store... we were very happy when we walked in to the large variety of fish they had available. I come into this pet store often and what I seen two days ago made me decide to never step foot into that place again. I seen a crested gecko last weekend that I thought about getting the next week or so, when i went back in I looked into the geckos cage and there was no sign of him. I turned the light on for the gecko (the lights weren't on for many of the reptiles may I add, but it was quite humid that day in their defense) , and on the side of the tank I saw the remains of what looked to be the gecko, his body seemed to be melted into the substrate which was probably because his body was decaying. There was maggots covering his tiny body eating what was left of him. I have pictures to prove it. I left completely heartbroken. The entire store is covered in daddy long legs, the tanks in the back are covered in dust and cob webs, the service is rude and unappreciative. Just not a good place in general. Need to pay more attention to their animals for sure. The puppies on the other side of the store looked completely miserable and their water bowls were empty on an extremely humid, muggy day. They just lay there and don't move. Awful environment for all those animals. read more

I very much dislike my store. I went in Friday, I had previously given up on this place due to ill fish and rude staff. But they have been posting that they have a new huge selection of corals. New tanks etc. I went in, no new corals. Just the same old bleached out dying stuff. Every salt water tank has either dead or half dead fish in it. Most fish/inverts/corals have no label or a wrong label. After a look I would never consider putting anything from there in my tank for fear I ick. On top of everything no one will help you, if you ask they tell you to wait, chat then go help and are rude. I really dislike everything about the place. read more

We love this place!! The new location is great and gave them room for many more fish tanks. I have purchased many fish from this store and I never had any problems with the fish dying. I have purchased fish from many other stores and they are always dead the next day. I have a 72 gallon bow front community fresh water tank that has been set up for countless years, so it's not my water as some of the other places would tell me. Sometimes it does get very busy in there and it seems like they could use a few extra hands to help out, however I don't mind being patient and waiting, there are always things I can look at while waiting. Plus the fact that it is busy in there is a great way to tell that it's a good place. If it was dead in there all the time I'd be worried what was wrong with the place. The people who work here are very knowledgeable and always give me the best advice. They have a great selection of fish to choose from in all shapes and sizes. This weekend we will be getting a hamster from here. I won't ever go anywhere else!! I drive 15 mins just to come to this store and it's well worth it every time. read more

They are in plastic bags with blue food coloring with not enough water. It was an awful experience to see fish suffering like that. We purchased a puppy from them. After 4 hours of the puppy being in my home we tried to get a refund due to my daughter being deathly afraid of the puppy. We were aware of their no refund policy but were hoping they would give us grace since the puppy had just left their store and surely they could re-sell. I could see if I had the dog for weeks or months but a few hours? Give me a break! A store or breeder who won't refund your money if you are having a hard time with the dog, is NOT caring about the well being of the dog rather dollar signs only!! If you have children and there is a possibility your child may not like the dog than I strongly urge you to find a good breeder who will be more understanding. read more

i purchased a guinea pig from this store seven days ago. She seemed very sweet and calm. well yesterday my daughter took her out to hold her like she has every day and came running to me with the guinea pig crying that shes all stiff. It was horifying and traumatic for her and our other kids. I called the store and explained what had happened and that i believed she must have been sick before we brought her home and if and how they could help. He was extremely rood and said she was ours now and they wouldnt replace her or give store credit. He said if it had happenrd in the first two days then maybe something could be done. I suggest that people lookong for any pet should take there business elsewhere.
