Because of the outstanding customer service, food quality and quantity and the atmosphere this is now our favorite restaurant in Florida. If you are in the Lakeland area and you are hungry then this should be your first choice. We had "Sean" as our server and he was beyond outstanding. He was very attentive and very friendly and he took time to inform us about the specials, most popular items and was able to make suggestions based on our wants. We started with a dozen grilled oysters, half cajun butter and half garlic butter. They were very delicious. They were tasty, fresh and a nice size. My wife went with the grilled wild caught salmon which was described as the wagyu of the sea. And she said it was the best salmon she has ever had. I went with the pick two combo which included catfish, shrimp and cod. And I know that's three but instead of two pieces of catfish, I got one and two piece pieces of cod. My sides were hush puppies and red beans and rice. Let me tell you first of all it was a lot of food, everything was absolutely delicious. But the red beans and rice were amazing, plenty of flavor. And the sweet tea was excellent. We were to full from dessert but we will try some next time. We also met a manager and the owner and they were both very personable and friendly. They both acted like regular people and they both made us feel welcomed. Lastly we sat outside because we had our service animals with us and they also took very good care of them. They provided cold bowls of water and we order a chicken breast for them. Which they cut up in small pieces and provided them with to go bowls for them to eat out of. We live in Tampa which is about 1 hour away but our experience here was worth the drive. It is in a nice area with shops and stores. Definitely try this business if your in the area read more

We came here looking for something a little different for a special meal. Really happy with the food and experience. We came on a weekend and was pretty busy but we got right in. Service was friendly and good. Southern charm feeling. We ordered 3 meals. Sea Bass, Redfish and Pick 2 with fish and shrimp. I had the redfish blackened and it was super flavorful with a kick. The crawfish sauce was excellent with 2 big shrimp on top. Everything was cooked well. The green beans on the side were nice and fresh. Rice was great to get that extra sauce. Wife had the Seabass and it was delicious as well. Great portion with a very tasty chimichurri sauce. I will try that next time as it was a hit. Green beans and potatoes on the side. Kid had the pick 2 and it was also very good. I actually liked the coleslaw. It was not mayo based and had a great taste. I ate it all! To start we had the fried pickles. Huge portion. We went to Fish City tonight for dinner. Our server, Anna came over to get our drink order, she was nice. I ordered the Crab bisque that is only available on weekends, and the Fish and chips. My brother Jonathan ordered the same, but my brother Bill ordered the Shrimp po boy sandwich and fries. He said it was delicious and filling. My Mom ordered the Caesar salad and shared some of my meal. She didn't like the salad as it was finely chopped and mostly croutons. The Crab bisque was wonderful and the Fish and chips were flaky and light, really good. A few times we needed Anna for refills of our drinks or ketchup and she was no where to be found. Fish City Grill earned points with us when we walked up & someone greeted us & opened the door! Everyone working in the restaurant was very friendly. Our server Ren was excellent. She answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was all good but she real hit was the shrimp & scallops wrapped in bacon. It was gone in minutes. What a fun place! This was unexpected and gave a New Orleans vibe to the food that we weren't expecting. We kept it simple order g the shrimp po boy and the Salmon bites. The po boy was on a wonderful French baguette with lettuce, tomato, pickles and of course remoulade. The shrimp, although a little smaller than I'd prefer were cooked perfectly with a light crusty for texture and crunch. Excellent sandwich. The salmon bites were a special. Great atmosphere and a cute little bar inside and seating outside. The wait staff were super nice and attentive and our waitress had some great recommendations with the specials. If you want a solid meal in a nice area full of shops and a place to walk around, Fish City Grill is a good option. To me, it's not above and beyond good but it's a solid meal. And it keeps busy so you have to be prepared to wait for a table especially if you go in the evening. They have a revolving special entrees menu that I think has the best options. Normally it's fun and more unique dishes. Lots of seafood options (it does have FISH in the name, after all). I've been here a few times over the years and the service is hit or miss. As I said they get pretty busy so it can be slow to get your food or refills and such. They do have some decent cocktails as well as limited outdoor seating. read more

I got the seafood gumbo to start. The gumbo has a lot of ingredients. It is a good soup to have. I have the blackened catfish to entry. The fish is big pieces. We are pretty picky about ordering seafood when we go out since we typically catch and cook all of our own seafood. Thankfully, we were presently surprised. The calamari was delicious. We really enjoyed both of the sauces. It was a sweet and spicy Thai and some kind of Parmesan aïoli. My husband ordered the snapper with extra rice, and I had the blackened grouper with the garlic mash and asparagus. Everything was tasty. There are many outside tables. We were considered to sit outside but changed our mind to sit in the inside booth. We start off with a nice glass Sangria and Margarita. I have their Honey Pecan Grilled Salmon. Salmon was grilled just right over a sauteed spinach and mashed sweet potato. Wow, that sweet potato added flavor to my fish! My friend has a pan-fried rainbow trout. Nicely done. The ingredients are all fresh and prepared with excellent culinary skills. The service is very attentive and professional. #FCG is my number one with a bullet favorite seafood spot in Lakeland. I've been there almost 7 or eight times and every time the food has been on point. The fish is what it says it is (we all know places that say they are serving grouper or snapper or trout and it is not what they say it is) every time the food is cooked to perfection. First time at FCG and the place was packed for lunch. Friendly service and good recommendations from the staff. The shrimp tacos were highly popular and was told they were a little spicy. I'm great with honey chipotle spice. To be honest, the shrimp and grits had more of a kick in spice than the tacos! I shared both dishes and would recommend both if you want a good mix or entrees and texture. The sampler was fine, but i think I'd recommend getting a shrimp cocktail or just the calamari instead. The seafood queso was very thin and though good in flavor, it lacked a cheesy texture. The fried pickles were good but the breading was really lite and made them a little soggy feeling. Had the most delightful waiter Robbie who was super helpful and attentive and share great recommendations. The fish and chips were crispy but not too much breading. Ask for the fries crispy. They are great!!! The fish taco is DELICIOUS! They roll it up and grill it and it's so good!!! Definitely try the chipotle tarter. One comment, I would recommend getting the pico on the side. If you ever find yourself in the Lakeland Florida area I highly recommend this venue. Start off with the oyster nachos. They are amazing. They sound terrible but I assure you this is awesome. It's a fried oyster with a chipotle sauce and pico de gallo on a nacho chip. Everyone I've ever brought here loves that appetizer now this is the first time that I noticed that they offer beignets and that was a winning dessert. And their crab bisque is also amazing. It was presented well and was HOT which is a rare thing these days. David went over and above caring for us, often stopping by the table asking if there was anything else that we needed. When we were leaving, Davis asked if I would like an iced tea "to go." The restaurant was very quiet when arrived but as the dinner hour progressed it became more busy.
