When I visit a new BBQ place, I always try their ribs and brisket. Here, I ordered the ribs ala carte and the brisket in a meal. The meal came with only one side and it's a half pound serving. That's a big helping of a side dish. I wish they offered two smaller portions as the side, like most BBQ joints do. I asked the young girl working which sides were made in house and it took her by surprise. I then asked if some of the sides came from a food vendor. Then she stammered the answer, "I've heard him say, that he makes them all." I ended up ordering the Smoked Beans. I'm picky about my beans and these lacked seasoning and were bland. The brisket was cut thick and was on the chewy side. I prefer my brisket cut thinner and much more tender. My order of ribs, shocked me. They were the first ribs that I ever had that did not have the membrane on the back of the ribs removed. The ribs did have good seasoning, since the membrane was not removed, they were tough. They had a 2" thick pork steak on the menu. I guess I'll have to come back and give that a try with a different side. If the pork steak disappoints me, I wont be back. The staff were friendly, but not overly friendly. Also, I don't think the cashier was knowledgeable about the product she was selling.

Typically I ask if they use mini or regular candies, but today I forgot to ask. The reason I ask is, size does matter. Especially with M & M's in a concrete. Regular sized blend better and add more flavor. To my delight, they did use regular sized and I'm going to say something, that I rarely say. My concrete had too many M & M's. The deeper I ate into my concrete, the candies became thicker with each bite. Yes, it was delightful, but in this case less could have been better. The staff were young, professional and friendly. Customers order at one window and pick-up at the next. They call out what your order was and a few times they called out a persons name. It was so much food, I could not clean my plate. The chicken breast and shrimp were excellent. They were seasoned and grilled perfectly. Honestly, when I order it the next time, I may tell them to hold the second plate, except for the tortillas. The service is always good and when it's super busy, I don't mind sitting at the bar. Being a single diner, I hate tying up a table or booth when they could sit a larger group. Arandas is on the backside of my subdivision, I can easily walk there. The bar has a good variety of whiskey and vodka, but when I'm here I always seem to enjoy a draft or bottled beer. Next time, I'll go with a cocktail and see how they pour. Service has never disappointed me and I've been seated at a table with a server and the bar with the bartender. Both were attentive and professional. When it was ready, the owner brought it out and dropped the bag in front of me and turned to walk away. No thank-you, no nothing. I had to speak first, to get response and it was just faint grunt. It is a sad day when a business owner cannot thank a customer for supporting his business.
