Tonight, I found out that, The Pink Cow offers it and it's homemade, too. Having The Pink Cow, close to my home, may put some pounds on my frame. The soft serve was not overly sweet and the orange sherbet had a nice tang to it. The twist of vanilla and orange was almost too pretty to eat, but I managed to enjoy it. I liked how the top curled and draped dramatically down the side. The staff of high school students were friendly and helpful. From what I could see through the service window, the preparation area was kept clean. Even the outside in front of the ice cream shop and around the picnic tables were free of debris. My cone was delicious, so I know I'll be back. Except on my next visit, I'll go down a size, so I don't go up a size.

While on one of our many trips to Edwardsville to hang out with our college friends, they casually recommended we try out Annie's for some sweets and delights. Next thing I knew, we were hopping in a car with our hangovers and hitting the road. Annie's, from what I remember, is like any other town's ice cream shack that is open year round. They offer your quick but yummy food options, such as: hot dogs, custard, sundaes, pie, and various other sweets. During our visit, we all snagged a few small things. Nursing some hangovers, we all gravitated towards the greasy offerings versus the cold stuff. Chili dogs were what we picked and snacked on, except for the one friend who was feeling 110%. She got some ice cream to go. The chili dog was decent but nothing to write home about. It definitely hit the spot. As for the interior, I don't remember much about it. The little that I do recall doesn't strike me as overly impressive but also not lacking. There were tables to sit at and ample room should it be busy during the summer hours. I wish I could have more to put in this blog post but since this was the only time we came here and it was after a fun night, this is all about it. Also, sadly, my friends have moved away from Edwardsville, but that doesn't mean I won't try to swing by it again on my way to St. Louis some day. I already know that I will be going back to try more of their sweet treats. As stated, I was out celebrating National Vanilla Milkshake Day. My milkshake was made from scratch. It was creamy, thick and had a rich vanilla flavor. It truly was a good old-fashioned milkshake, like those you'd see in the movie, Grease and on Happy Days. There is just something about a milkshake made by hand and not from a machine. There's several picnic type tables in front to sit and enjoy your treat. Mr Twist has been a ice cream favorite in Granite City for decades and it has always been owned by the same family. If I remember correctly, I believe they are on the third generation of ownership. That's some serious family dedication to satisfying the sweet tooth's of G-City. If you know me, you know that I am a huge fan of soft serve orange sherbet. So when I heard that is what Mr Twist is known for, I knew I had to go try theirs. While I was ordering, the two employees working shared with me that they now have a Raspberry Sherbet, too. They offered to twist the two sherbets, but I opted to do vanilla. My cone was delicious, I enjoyed the blend of vanilla and orange. There's something about that Creamsicle flavor that is so refreshing to me. However, after being given a sample of the new Raspberry Sherbet, I wish I would have blended the two sherbets. The Raspberry had a nice tang to it and next to strawberries, raspberries are my second favorite berry. The service was mom-pop friendly and you could see and feel their excitement to be in the passport. Instead of using the Route 66 stamp provided to all participants, they have their own design. If that isn't cool enough, when you get your stamp, they ask you to sign their Route 66 Guest Book. If you're on Route 66 traveling or live in the Riverbend Area, you need to go have some ice cream at Mr. Twist.
