This is a nice local market for a wide variety of seafood. I really enjoy their cooked and peeled shrimp. They have a very good texture and the price is reasonable. They also have a variety of fresh and frozen fish, including stuffed flounder that is easy to bake and serve at home. The counter staff are friendly and efficient and they also sell batter, fry mix, lemon and cocktail sauce to complete your meal. The one thing I didn't like was their clam chowder, the potatoes were kind of overcooked and the flavor was bland. Overall, I would recommend this market for good seafood selection and freshness. read more

Wow! I am blown away at the variety and quality of the seafood at Fish Market. It's located right on the border of Michigan and Ohio, in a not so glamorous part of town. The parking lot is A good size and that was helpful because I came here during the Covid pandemic and no more than five customers were allowed in the building at one time. When I arrived there was a line of people waiting to get in. It's a little brisk outside so I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay but I really wanted to find some better salmon than what I had been getting at Kroger. When it was my turn to go in I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were several people behind the counters helping customers. I found the salmon that I wanted and, naturally because I was waiting to pay, I selected a couple of more things to buy. I got an eggroll and I was surprised at how good it was given that it came from a seafood store. Took the salmon home and made the recipe that I had found in a magazine - my husband is not a huge fan of salmon but he absolutely loved how fresh the fish tasted. In fact he loved it so much that two weeks later when I suggested that we make the salmon again he went with me to the Fish Market. In addition to getting the salmon we ended up buying some swordfish and some frozen alligator chunks. He ended up making the alligator into tacos and that was surprisingly good. The only bad news is that we are moving into weeks to about 25 miles north of Detroit. I don't know how often will be able to come here but I'm sure when we do come down to Toledo to visit friends, We will bring a cooler with us to pick up some fish on our trip home. read more

While home for the Christmas holiday visiting family, my Mom wanted to get some quality fish for our Christmas day meal. We knew we were having steak the night before on Christmas Eve, so a seafood feast sounded like the perfect balance for Christmas Day. The store was open for limited hours on Christmas Eve, so we went in and were kindly greeted. They had a very nice and wide variety of fish, both local and from other parts of the country. Their prices were fair, especially for the area and for the quality of fish. We opted for King Salmon fillets as our main dish, Virginia scallops to accompany the salmon, and both blue crab and lobster stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer for our meal. Every tasted phenomenal when we seasoned and cooked it. If I lived in the area, the Fish Market would be the only place I would go to get my seafood. read more

Our visit here was last month and I'm just writing this review now because we have had a chance to go through most everything that we put in our freezer that day when we got home. Absolutely everything we purchased there is of the highest quality and freshness. When you walk into the place it doesn't even smell like a fish store; it's clean, it's well organized and located at an unpretentious storefront. We purchased.... salmon, red snapper, alligator, orange roughy, baby Lobster, rock shrimp, calamari and sushi grade tuna. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable all the prices were posted on the walls.... clear and easy to read. They also have other delectable treats such as crab cakes, smoked fish, dips,soups, dressings and spices. Definitely several notches up from that "other" fish store. My wife came up with a marinade for our alligator that just made it excellent it involves orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, fresh garlic, cayenne pepper, a dash of cumin, limeade frozen concentrate, and onion. We bought lobster tails for Valentine's Day and were enjoying our dinner when we noticed an ammonia odor. We researched this and learned this meant that the lobster was spoiled. We were both sick the next day. My husband emailed the shop to let them know and never heard back. Very bad customer experience. We won't be back because obviously they don't care about this. read more

I have been working at our regional office near this location and the guys in the office have been coming here for years. We all agree this is the BEST fish market we have ever been to. The fish quality could not be better and the customer service I have been met with here is absolutely amazing today a young man helped me who was the epitome of excellent customer service. I went here a month ago to buy my husband's surprise birthday dinner. We love sea scallops and I've never attempted to make them at home. I snatched some up and they were fresh, juicy, and succulent. We were both so pleased with the quality. Also I tried their fresh pre-made lobster cakes and crab cakes. I made a hollandaise to serve with them and wow we will be back for sure. I love this Toledo area establishment! It's a couple hundred feet from the Ohio state line. This place offers a huge selection of oceanic and Lake Erie local caught fish. They even offer turtle soup (not sure how I feel about that haha). I know nothing about fishing or cooking fish in general, and they were very informative. After leaving, I called to ask the best ways to prepare their Yellow Perch and Walleye (both from Lake Erie) and they gave suggestions for baking and frying. I only took away one star because my pound and a half order of both fish was a little over $20. This was more pricey than expected, but I believe it is well worth supporting a decades old family business. They definitely have me as regular customer. Shop local, shop small! read more

This is a fantastic place to purchase fresh seafood in the Toledo Metro Area. Don't sell yourself short by purchasing your shrimp, scallops and oysters in a grocery store. Every time that I stop in, the products look great and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The prices will be slightly higher, but it is definitely worth it for the quality and freshness. I am not much of a fish fan, so my review is strictly shellfish based. The shrimp here are wonderful. The scallops are grand as well, although sometimes they are frozen and I simply pass.
