When I visit cities I check out local thrift stores. This store is well organized and has a bit of everything. When I entered I asked about sales. The lady at the register said "they are on the board". There were atleast 10 different "sales" listed on the board. I stated that is a lot to read. She was not interested. Thankfully, a kind gentleman shouted "red tags half off, yellow tags $1". Thank you. That works for me. Then while we were shopping another lady who I assumed was in charge yelled at 2 teen volunteers to stay on task or she would clock them out. It was uncomfortable for me and another shopper and we even talked to each other about it. They should not have been reprimanded in front of customers. April had some great sales "half off clothes from 12-3" and "buy 1, get 2 free dresses!" It's a large store and they had an excellent and diverse selection to chose from. During such desperate times, but you would think that their employees would know the basic rules of service at this particular food bank. I was in the FISH food bank 2× during the last 30 days, and everything was fine. No questions asked.(shouldn't there be signs posted. Their website says food once every 10 days. Each time I asked whoever was helping me, how often may I receive food? Each response was the same once(1)/week. One female employee even checked for a code at the top of my receipt and verified to me that I was allowed to receive food once a week. So, on Monday(02/19/2024, I called the FISH office to see if they were open bc of the President Day holiday. They were open, so I went down to pick up food. When I arrived and showed my ID for the food grant, I was told that I couldn't receive food again until March 9th '24. (3) three week wait. When I asked the 2 receptionists what happened, they didn't have an answer. Just tried to send me away to another food bank. It's not a big company. Their own employees should not be telling anyone things that are not true. With the icy cold roads and wintery weather, it's pretty outrageous to waste that much time and then be turned away without ANY reasonable explanation. It actually looked like the woman behind the glass took my ID and was hiding it under her desk but before I could say anything 2 other women show up and started asking me questions. The woman holding my ID must have pressed a panic button under her desk. Keep in mind, this is food bank and there was no emergency, robbery, or assault in progress. Very weird, but less than 5 minutes after I posted this review I get a response from their manager. I can't imagine a manager of a food bank waiting by his computer for a review on Yelp. Someone should rename this town tweekertown, USA. Something fishy going on at FISH. investigation ongoing. read more

They are one of the few places in Carson that will pick up donations. Call a few days in advance though so they got time to schedule you.

Attempted to drop off an oak entertainment center that was truly in nearly new condition! Male employee standing 15' away from the back of our rental van sighed heavily twice as we exited our vehicle. He appeared extremely annoyed and asked what we were donating. I said a wall unit and had already unloaded the 2 shelves by the time he sauntered to the back. He then told my husband they didn't want it and suggested Goodwill. His mind was definitely made up before he asked what was being donated AND before he saw the furniture. We would have understood had he not been obnoxious from the start. Classy Seconds at least was polite and explained that the oak pieces usually don't sell. Won't be back to Fish. I have lots of quality clothing pieces that will go elsewhere. BTW, Goodwill was happy to take it. read more

We found a brand new pair of skis, brand new coffee maker, vacuum, frying pan, and 2 pairs of shoes in very good condition. All that for under $40. The very next week, we went skiing using the skis we own and rent another pair. read more

I love Fish!!! I work there,but before I did my family were regular patrons. My father died in 2011 and fish was his favorite place!!!! He loved Augie and Nikki. My mom loves their prices and still does. My parents love what fish stands for ,they love that I work there. Guy who prices things Actually negotiates prices with Mexicans in Spanish. But if you ask about pricing he states "Prices are set" then overheard them cussing in Spanish and talking crude as if nobody can understand them. They are re-doing the store, so things have moved around a bit. I also had a couple bags of old clothes and household goods to donate. It was a cold, miserable day and whoever was in the back of the store collecting donations from people seemed to be grumpy and not in a good mood. One of my go to places for goodies. This is a pretty good thrift store and it does a lot for the community. I have not had rude or inconsiderate service any time I've been there and on the contrary, everyone has been very nice and helpful. Prices are a little high on some items but I don't mind paying a little more for something I want if it helps other folks out. Please consider donating to FISH and if you do/did have a bad experience, speak to management BUT give the workers a second chance. Fantastic thrift store. Yes, it was dark inside but I still found quite a few treasures. They have a lot of books, women's clothes, housewares, and furniture. Parking lot is small and hard to get in and out of for both shopping and donation drop off It is next to their food kitchen so expect to smell some odd odors when shopping which mixed with the smell of BO and old furniture is off putting. Well..Good and Bad ..The thrift stores prices are outrageously priced on items..the mexican guy that works the Back Was Rude And Acts Like The Merchandise Is His.. Bought a couch and chair from them a couple of years back. Went to donate the same couch and chair back to them as I moved away and could not take them with me. They are in the same condition as when I bought them, if maybe a little dusty from being in a storage unit. First they gave me the runaround with pick up. When I called it was a couple of days before Thanksgiving, they couldn't or wouldn't even pencil me in a time for the week after Thanksgiving. Advised that I call on Monday. When I called on Monday they at first scheduled me for a Wednesday pick up, then later in the same call changed it to Friday saying that their driver was out Wednesday and didn't work on Thursday. So I scheduled it for Friday (nearly two weeks after my original call). After all this, the driver declined to pick up the furniture stating that it was below the quality they usually take. So it was good enough condition to sell to me but not to take back? All this mucking around also cost me an extra month with the storage place. I am furious to say the least. I get the feeling they have no idea what they are doing, and if they can't manage a simple pick up can we honestly trust that our donation money is being handled properly and getting to the people that need it? read more

clothing can be a little pricey, but kids clothes and items are perfect, housewares are decently priced as well. Come here for kids stuff mostly, kids love the free stuffed animal bin that they get to treat to. Workers are volunteers or working off community service so it really depends on who's there but for the most part great experiences, the main employees are always laughing and happy, so it makes it a fun experience. they always remember me and the kids when we go in and are good with my daughter who loves to chat their ears off. plus it all goes back into the community.. environment better than Classy seconds by far! read more

Ably led by store manager Katrina, the staff team is the epitome of what sales staff should be: competent, genuinely caring, and friendly. The merchandise is well-organized, clearly and fairly priced. Ample convenient parking. Great store hours. What more could you ask for from a the thrift store?!
