I've driven past Cheshire Antiques multiple times and had no idea how huge this place is. I found out yesterday, as I walked into a 2-story emporium that felt like it took up an entire city block. I walked through it all, most I assume to be a hefty collection of rented "booths" and maybe some consignment. I'll need to come back again, as each antique store visit is just one layer of the onion. The antique wares were well organized throughout, although with differences in display density. There was a pleasant atmosphere in the store, both from staff and all the curious folks like me taking it all in. The husband of a friend used to be an antique dealer and he often talked about collection cycles and people age out and their treasures move on. I thought of that as I perused and sometimes admired an impressive collection of "stuff" that were previously special to their previous owners, and would someday be again. read more

This is a must stop if you like furnitire, jewelry, memorabilia, kitchen items, and more. We spent hours here going from area to area. We went through the downstairs, and upstairs. I found a beautiful Beaver hat 5xxxxx made in Texas perhaps used once? If that! We got a great Tiki man that adds to our collection from various countries. My husband really wanted me to have a necklace we saw, and while stepping away he found a great ring for me. We could have bought more, but had to hold back. I saw toys from my childhood, and dishes...pretty much all kinds of things too many to mention. The ladies working here were excellent, and have to give them kudos for being so helpful. read more

My wife and I come here every year on vacation and one of the big highlights is going to Cheshire antiques. Unlike other antique malls, they don't have any junk in this place. Nothing made in China. They have an amazing selection of art and antique furniture and clothing and jewelry and whatever else you're looking for. My wife and I have visited maybe 40 antique stores and this is by far our favorite one. The people here are always amazingly friendly and helpful. Huge. Beautiful. This place is super organized, but still have that incredible nostalgic feel. My girlfriends and I were antiquing in Carson City, and the owner of a large shop told us to try Cheshire Antiques in Gardnerville. So we made another 20 minutes drive, and we were definitely glad we did. Great selection, clean items, very nice staff (except for one guy, who was very grumpy). We walked around all areas (I mean it's huuuuge) and really enjoyed the experience. We all bought several good finds, and they were all very reasonably priced. One of the best antique shops I've ever been to. I'm going to go visit again soon. read more

This is a lot of fun with a walk down memory lane no matter your age. I found post cards unused, from the state that I grew up in and found some wonderful cards. Filled with little shops that had interesting items from days gone by. Collectibles, clothing, jewelry. Knives, hear, games, just about anything that you have an interest in. Everyone has such positive things to say about Cheshire Antiques and I can see why. The staff is very friendly and helpful while allowing you all the poke around and look time you need. It is a very large space with all sorts of items. I did need assistance in getting cases unlocked and navigating around. There are bathrooms in the back right section of the store. I found a cool gothic brooch, some buttons and some gambling chips. They were all items on my list so imagine that. Definitely worth a stop or a day trip . read more

I stopped in here to hunt for vinyl records. Not only was this a nice place to browse for antiques, the building itself is historical for the area. They have two large rooms and a second floor of all kinds of items. The folks working there were so nice and helpful, I wish I lived closer to frequent the store more often. We come in here every time we are in town and love walking around this very large old and beautiful building and all the venders spaces. I seem to find things when I'm not looking for anything specific it's also a nice place to gather ideas. It's definitely worth a stop they have a lot of dishes, old bottles, furniture, I especially like the one area upstairs in the corner with all the garage stuff and old tools! Stopped in here while junking south of Reno. We have been here before and this is great place to search for treasures. It is probably the largest antique store in the Reno area. Two floors to search and lots of nooks and crannies. The prices are about average for the area. And it is inside a beautiful old building built in the early 1900's. read more

Large store in a vintage storefront in Gardnerville. Cool, cool old building, and a LOT of inventory to check out. It's all separated into booths by vendor, but I'm sure there's probably 50+ vendors in there. Public restrooms were a plus, as many antique stores don't seem to think that their customers have bladders, haha. Easy to get around in, but the second floor could be an accessibility issue for some guests, with only stairs for access. This is to be expected in a building of this age, and I see no way to get around that. Lots of smaller items in display cases, not as many man-tiques as other stores in the area, but totally worth shopping at for the sheer inventory alone. Employees were just the right amount of helpful. You need to be around when customers need to see in cases or have items unlocked or reached, but not make them feel followed. I thought these guys had a great balance, and I found some vintage silverware here for myself. Employees were courteous and helpful. It had been a long day when I stopped by here, and I felt better after shopping, and visiting. Would definitely stop by again if I were in the area, and it's definitely worth popping down if you're in Carson City for the day. read more

I am changing my review due to an experience I had in this store a couple of months ago. My child and I went in to browse and there was a large painting of a topless woman posing very seductively. It looked like something that should be hanging in a bar or brothel where children don't go, not in an antique store. It wasn't a Greek statue or something that would be classified as art. I went to the front desk to complain. The woman working the desk was very apologetic, but there was an older man working (I'm assuming he is one of the vendors) who took issue with my complaint because he said it was "art." He had a very combative attitude with me from the beginning and it only got worse. It seemed he took it very personal that I didn't approve of pictures of topless women hanging where children can see them. He told me he would call the manager. My child and I went upstairs to look around and he soon followed to gleefully inform me he had spoken to the manager and she agreed with everything he said and that it was art. I disagreed and we went back and forth (arguing) and he told me if I didn't like it, not to come back. I told him that was certainly my prerogative and I would never be back. Then he starts ranting in front of my child about his own personal morals and how doesn't believe in abortion. I don't know what on Earth that has to do with the painting I complained about. He was saying things you shouldn't talk about in front of children so we rushed down the stairs, I walked out the door and I will NEVER return. I used to go in here fairly often and enjoyed looking. This is the worst lace to go. It's run by volunteers who don't care about customer service. I had the worst experience today and I will never come to this place again. It's so horrible and the people are so rude. Stay clear of this place if you want to have a good day. Also, don't have Mary as your cashier, she will overcharge and be completely rude to you. She's a volunteer and doesn't care about you as a person. Remember, Mary is mean and doesn't care about you. Mary is rude as F and will treat you like you're scum. read more

We walked into this giant antique mall 15 minutes before closing. That was mistake number 1. Mistake number 2 was not checking our shoes before we walked in. I quickly noticed I was leaving a trail of muddy footprints behind me. So we walked back to the front and took off our shoes while offering apologies to the woman who greeted us. She told us not to worry about it, and that the floors could be cleaned, but we walked around in our socks for the next 15 minutes instead. I wish we'd arrived just a little bit earlier. 15 minutes doesn't even begin to give you enough time to check out each of the unique stations. We didn't even make it all the way around the first floor, but did take a peek upstairs really quickly. Staff was very friendly and happy to walk around with you, help you find something, or just answer questions. This place is huge and has a lot of great stuff. It was very fun to look around, even with only 15 minutes. read more

Cheshire is my favorite place to go to treasure hunting. It's huge, the building itself is so cool (and an antique itself) and it's full of a wonderful assortment of time periods. It's a time warp! It's great just to walk around and experience some nostalgia. Each section is run by different vendors selling awesome, retro, vintage or antique stuff. Everything from postcards, jewelry, hats, and handbags to vintage chairs, glassware, lighting, old school toys, etc.... There's even an antique mortician's cooling table. Where else would you see one of those??? The owners are super friendly and the staff is very helpful. They don't follow you around, but they're close by to help you look at something in one of the cases or take something up to the counter so that you don't have to lug it around. It leaves your hands free to find more good stuff! I enjoy the conversations that I get into with the staff there. They love the old treasures as much as I do. I disagree with the reviewer that said that it's mostly MC/60's/70's. There is a good amount of MCM, but I've only seen a little 60's stuff and nothing 70's that I remember. We really enjoyed our shopping and the staff was really patient we me, I'm high maintenance and ask to see in almost all the locked cases. Love this store. I live down the street and my husband and I quite often come to browse and look for stuff to go in our newly purchased home. The women are very helpful and let you browse without bothering you. However I feel creeped out and annoyed to look up occasionally and see one of the male workers hiding behind corners watching me. I don't like the impression that he thinks I'm a thief! However I ignore him or say " can I help you"? I will continue to visit and bring out of towner's to visit this little gem! read more

They have expanded since the last time I came and now they have an entire second floor dedicated to the eclectic at heart antique hunters! We recently move to Minden from east coast. Although we downsized with our move, we needed a few things for our new home. Cheshire Antiques is a fun outing during the prolonged global pandemic. The staff we encountered each visit were friendly and helpful. We found the perfect oval oak mirror which worked for an empty wall in our entryway.
