The seating, however, is interesting, awkward, and uncomfortable: a bench built in along one wall is the seating for one side of a row of tables. The bench is as high as the table so the people sitting on the 'bench' were staring down at their table mates, and they are very far from their food, which makes eating difficult. I attended Fish Thyme for the first time with my family, my experience was not one I'm too proud of. My family and I sat at a high boy table where we were overlooked for 50 minutes. Once we told the waiter and owner Veronica about what was happening they were nonchalant & not empathetic. The food did not make up for the poor service. The shrimp and lobster tasted like the sea and un fresh. We are thankful for one of the bartenders for trying to make up for our waiters lack of service and care. She is the sweetest! Food was ok nothing special, got some kind of nightly special, the lobster and fried shrimp. Lobster was not fresh. Sides were good and dessert was nothing special just a lot of cream on the pie to make the piece look bigger. Only thing that made the experience weird was the food server was so heavy handed when handing my plate, the plate was leaning and my food was sliding which I thought it was going to spill but it didn't. Just a very big guy with no facial expression. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Place was spacious and tables were spread far apart from one another. I've been twice so far and I haven't been that impressed yet!! There are two waiting areas. One as you enter but if you keep walking and go outside there's a nice courtyard for waiting and dining outside. My first visit was over the summer and they were extremely busy and short staffed so we waited a lot at the beginning of the meal. Our server was very friendly and informative about our service and what to expect. I returned this past weekend. I ordered the crab cakes and I was very disappointed as it was mostly filling versus crab. Our server lacked personality and was always available when we didn't need her and nowhere to be found when we did need her. Laughing out loud!! I'm willing to give this another try . Oh my goodness! This place was worth the wait! Last week we planned to go here without realizing we'd need a reservation or wait two hours for a table. I don't care how good a restaurant is, I'm not waiting 2 hours to be seated. We opted for the Italian place across the parking lot and made a reservation for tonight. It definitely did not disappoint. Appetizers: Fried Shrimp and Crab Dip. The dip was okay for me, it definitely wasn't bad but I'm not sure I'd order it again. The fried shrimp on the other hand was phenomenal. Main Entree: The husband ordered grouper, garlic potatoes and corn. I ordered redfish, garlic potatoes and creamed spinach. Nothing disappointed in any way for our main course. We'll probably try different fish next time just because they have a good selection. Dessert: I have a huge sweet tooth so I had scoped out desserts before we came. We ordered two (toasted strawberry pound cake and warm pineapple cake). I wolfed down the strawberry and I'll live to regret that later. Haha! We brought the remainder of pineapple cake home. Our server was Miss Dorothy. She was friendly and attentive and we tipped accordingly. Pay your servers well folks if they provide good service. The only downside to the whole experience is the restaurant feels pretty loud so if you're going for intimate date night with your spouse sit close to each other otherwise you may be repeating yourself often. There were two of them both larger than I've gotten any place else and yummy, but messy. I wasn't a fan of their vegetable medley side. It was sautéed veggies including broccoli and Brussels sprouts. Strange texture and flavor for me. I would absolutely go again! Recommend you make a reservation if it's the weekend. We showed up a little before opening and there was a line forming already. Everyone was cordial as far as the individuals who seated us, our waiter, and the guys that brought the food out. The owner of this establishment will look you in the eye and LIE! The prices listed on menu in many cases are not the prices that arrive on your bill. They only change the prices to what is listed on the menu if you catch the overcharge and ask to be charged price listed on the menu. This is outright stealing of people's hard earned money. Very dishonest sales practice and they laugh about it when you ask to be charged the price on menu instead of price on your bill. Never have I seen such flippant attitudes when asked about over charging on bill hoping that no one will catch the over charge done on purpose by this dishonest business. Do not step foot in this dishonest establishment that cheats the consumer out of money on purpose hoping people will not look item by item what was charged on their bill which is not the price listed on menu in many cases. Fish Thyme is a hidden jewel in Acworth, GA. One Saturday after a long day of house hunting in near by Kennesaw, my boyfriend and I were in the mood for seafood and this restaurant popped up during our search on Yelp. After reading many wonderful reviews we had to check it out. The restuarant is located in a small shopping center on Main street in Acworth, GA. There is limited parking on the street but there is a larger parking lot next to the street parking. Upon walking in we were greeted by a lovely hostess whom told us the wait would be about 45 minutes , we were fine with that. The quaint restaurant was clearly packed and seems to be very popular amongst the locals, if you have time to plan your visit I would recommend making a reservation. There is also an adjacent bar that you can visit while you wait for a table. Fortunately, a table in the bar area came available about 15 minutes into our wait and we were seated there. Since we were dining in the bar area everyone who worked behind the bar catered to all the tables so we were well taken care of. My boyfriend chose to get one of the specials of the day, The Seafood Trio. His meal included Salmon, blackened shrimp and a crab cake. I couldn't keep my fork off his plate to give you an idea of how tasty his entree was. The Salmon was cooked properly and seasoned well, the shrimp were large and the crab cake was decent as well. I had the Horseradish Encrusted Grouper which was ok I probably should have went with the plain version. My sides included the curried slaw and garlic mashed potatoes which was good. The presentation of both entrees was nice. Overall we had a great experience , excellent service, friendly staff, tasty food, and intimate ambiance.This is a great place for date night or celebrating a special occasion. Everything exceeded our expectations. The menu has a wide variety of seafood and some nonseafood items that sounded great. I had swordfish au poivre. The fish was prepared wonderfully and the sauce was a zesty twist of a classic preparation. I had creamed spinach and hashbrowns. Both were excellent.
