There are so many of these sour fish soup spots around, but I have to say this one is the best by far. The broth here is the least salty compared to others, but still super flavorful and light at the same time. You can also scan a QR code at the table and order without having to flag down staff, which is really convenient. The fish is fresh, and the portion of protein is very satisfying for the price. You can easily feed three people with one large order and one regular order while paying under twenty dollars per person. A big bowl of sauerkraut fish is PERFECT for a cold, winter day! Hubs and I popped in for lunch and we were sooo happy that we did! We ordered one of their signatures, the Laotan Basa Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili and the Pork Blood in Chili Sauce. Each of the dish, you can choose side dishes. I recommend both! Fish with You also has such a clever name in Chinese! We got a Seaweed appetizer on the house. It was vinegary and provides a refreshing start to our meal. Laotan Basa Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili was delicious and I loveee the broth! It's a perfect balance of pickled cabbage and spicy flavor. I got bean curd and white cabbage with this and it worked perfectly. The basa fish absorbed the flavor well and I enjoyed it. Pork Blood in Chili Sauce is a delicacy and it comes with many other items like tripe, vermicelli, cabbage, spam, black fungus, bean sprouts, etc. This was really delicious and was perfect with the unlimited rice. Popcorn Chicken was an additional side we ordered. The Popcorn Chicken is crispy and the panko reminded me of Popeyes. I did wish this was more seasoned. To end the meal, we got a free soft serve. It tastes like a frozen yogurt to me. If you're wondering if Young Fish around the corner or Fish With You is better, I would say we prefer Fish With You more. My friend is obsessed with sauerkraut. And this is her go to spot in brooklyn. I've tried about everything on the menu and the lemon one is probably my favorite. The lemon dish is not too sour and it's not too tangy, the fish is delicious but I do wish that it did have sauerkraut. I always get the bass with vermecelli and tofu. I think that would make the dish perfect nonetheless it's still delicious. The service is always really good, sometimes they'll even give us extra mints. There's something about the Chinese mints that are just so addicting. My favorite part about this place is that they have ice cream after. The ice cream is so nice and I know it's just vanilla but it just tastes better for some reason. Will always come here for some good fish. My go to spot for fish and sauerkraut. The place is always well lit and there's alwys someone inside enjoying their fish. read more

The fish is not prominent in the flavor palette, in my humble opinion. Lots of options for fish lovers and beyond. Opted for their signature, smaller size of two offered. A good portion if you're super hungry. Comes with bowl of rice. Snake fish (+$3) is worth the upgrade. I did not love the basa fish. Broth was a lovely numbing spicy. Food: I decided to try this restaurant because of the good reviews but was disappointed. We tried both of the signature fish with sauerkraut dishes; it comes with a selection of two toppings (options: tofu, glass noodles, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms, cabbage, or lettuce). Both of the signature dishes were very similar, and you can choose between basa fish or snakehead. The dishes were okay, but there are definitely other restaurants that are better for this type of cuisine. I like Young Fish (just around the corner on 8th Avenue) much better for their food and service and would recommend you go there instead of here. The popcorn chicken was not bad; it was moist and flavorful but also nothing special. At the end of the meal, they give you a small cup of soft serve ice cream which I wasn't a fan of. Overall, the food wasn't impressive, and I won't be returning here. Service: Service was just okay and also disappointing. At the front of the restaurant, there was a big sign advertising a current promotion that said: "Order 2 combo meals + 1 side + 2 drinks and get $10 off your bill". I asked the server about the details of the promotion, and perhaps there was a language barrier, but they didn't specify that for the 2 drinks, you must order the plum juice ($4.95 each). When I ordered the two drinks, I asked for two cokes ($1.95 each). When they brought out two plum juices, I thought they just misunderstood my order, and I asked them to switch it for coke. When the bill came, I told them I was charged for two plum juices, not coke. They then explained that the promotion requires you to get the plum juices (which are more expensive than coke) in order to get the $10 off your bill. I was disappointed and didn't think this was fair because it's not clearly stated on the sign nor was it clearly explained when ordering. We wouldn't have chosen to do the promotion had we known we were required to get the plum juices as the drinks. Ambiance: The restaurant has tables that can accommodate both large and small groups. There are a good number of tables, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant; Young Fish on 8th Avenue is better. read more

I love this place! Super flavorful, protein, and big portions. The signature suancai & fish was our favorite, it wasn't too spicy. However we bought the leftovers home and it became super spicy with the peppers in the soup. We also tried the Laotan suancai & fish but it wasn't as good as the signature. Will definitely be back to try more items to find our all time favs. We ended up spending about $50 w/ tip for 2 fish dishes with some leftovers for another meal. read more

Fantastic service with very flavorful food. I got the Suican fish and found the large to be the perfect amount for two. It automatically comes with two bowls of rice, broad vermicelli, and lettuce. It wasn't too spicy, but the heat definitely builds up over time. Waiters were all very helpful in helping us understand the menu since they primarily speak Mandarin with one waitress who spoke English.
