Disappointed in this place (ownership /managers) and haven't even had the chance to try it yet. I'm pretty infuriated over how they handled Juneteenth. I hardly EVER wait on long lines (it's the New Yorker in me) especially for food when there's thousands of other options... BUT after a lot of walking around at Juneteenth last week, the smell of this place drew me and my husband in. After an over 30min wait on the line. they finally took our order, only for us to have to sit around another 30min + while they "supposedly" cooked our meal, and when we went to the window to collect the order, it was never made because they ran out of food!! Huh??? WTF??? When you took our order, you couldn't check to make sure you had enough product in stock to accommodate our meal as well as the orders before us??? They were incredibly busy but at what point does a competent manager assess the line, check the inventory, and put up a "sold out" sign so people aren't waiting around an hour on some food they are never going to get??! It seems pretty simple to me, long line or not, festival or not, common sense! I hate to say it but it's incompetent stuff like this that causes many of these black owned restaurants to get bad reps. That was an hour of our life we can't get back. $70 plus between the two of us we were willing to spend to support this business and the manager couldn't take 5min to check his inventory to make sure there was enough to serve the people waiting forever on the line. Pissed off and highly displeased with the service. I've been calling for the last 45 minutes but the phone is off the hook because the employees don't want to take orders. I spent 30 minutes in traffic driving here to get salmon only to walk in to an open restaurant and the employee tells me it's too late to order. I've been wanting to try this ever since I saw one of my favorite food bloggers do a video on it, (LA Try Guy I think it's his name) and finally, I was kind of in the neighborhood for work and stopped by and man one of the best decisions ever! Right off the bat parking is super easy and free. The staff is extremely hospitable and so professional. The interior looked super clean. They even have a bathroom which I didn't use. I called in as a to go order. I ordered the catfish lunch with collard greens and it was the bomb! perfection, seasoned perfectly not greasy, fish was soft and succulent, and the collard greens had chunks of pork, I'm assuming. Everything I saw on the menu was affordable. ONLY COMPLAINT is ridiculously small tiny nonexistent little chunks of lemon that they give you. I'm Mexican. We squeeze lemon/lime on seafood all day long! I will definitely return if I'm in the area and I will recommend forever ! read more

Service is good. Most of the food is meh. I ordered the Snapper lunch plate with collard greens. Snapper was cooked well. Tender meat with a nice crunchy crust. Flavor was lacking. Just a little bit of salt would have made a difference. I had to slather it with tartar sauce for it to taste like anything. I'll take that over snapper that's not fresh and tastes fishy. Collard greens were tender and juicy but bitter. I love collard greens, and I like a little bit of bitterness, but this was almost not tolerable. The roll was so dry that it fell apart in my hands. They also gave me a taste of their gumbo. That was good. Very flavorful. It's a little bit spicy. It's probably not enough spice to register for most people, but I am very sensitive when it comes to spice. If I were going straight home from here, I probably would have ordered a cup of gumbo to take home to my son. read more

Came to this spot during lunch on a weekday. Ordering was quick even with a decent crowd of foot traffic coming in and out. We ordered the catfish with Cajun seasoning, a shrimp po' boy, and fried shrimp and fries for the kids. Everything came out super hot and fresh, and damn that catfish was seasoned perfectly. Fishbone is great! I love the way they season the fish and how fresh it taste. Reminds me of old school fish fry's at granny's house. The wait is usually a little long, honestly it's worth it. I guess the best way to start off is with the food. It's OK , I've had a lot of southern fried food from all over LA and I have to say that this one unfortunately is just OK. Now I don't mean it's horrible because it's not it's good , kind of tasty . they give you good amount of portions , and the sides are also good . What I mean is be honest it's a little bland. I compare that to other places that I've gone to and it's a little lacking in the spices department.. you will probably ask, will I go there again? I'm gonna be honest and probably say no because of the fact that I have my spots that I usually go to. I'm not in this area much so I was hoping it would be better to be honest but like I said it's not horrible. It's good I guess I'm just used to more authentic southern fish fry.. As for the service, I can honestly say that they were on top of it. They were nice and friendly and they took care of my order quite quickly. I didn't have to wait long for my order. Now the place,,, it's a small place. It's more of a to go place but they do have some small tables so if you want to have your lunch there and relax. that would be cool. Maybe you're not as picky as me and if you're in the area I said go try for yourself . Now this is a note to the owners. Number one "seriously " get a little bit more on the spices department. And stop watering down the sauce. I've literally passed by this place dozens of times without a second thought. One day I decided to try something new and I'm so glad I did. I had the shrimp po boy (which came with fries) and a side of collard greens. Let me start out by saying that it is A LOT of food, and that's a good thing. Sometimes when I finish a meal, I'm still hungry. Not the case here. Granted I don't have the largest appetite in the world, I'm glad I didn't have to worry about portion size. Secondly I absolutely enjoyed the Po Boy. I thought it was pretty flavorful and savory. While waiting, the owner offered me a sample of the gumbo, which was nice of him. This was my first time ever ordering and trying Fishbone. Let me say my foid was still warm and bags sealed properly for delivery. My grubhub driver was very prompt thank you. Now, for the food, I ordered red snapper, red beans and rice, fried shrimp, and hush puppies. I was very dissatisfied with the snapper. It had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever! As well as the red beans and rice, just bland and tasteless! The only way I could eat the beans, are because the hush puppies were good, really the only thing that had a bit of seasoning! I read all the other reviews, stating that the food was tasteless, but I had to see for myself. The shrimp were just ok, slightly better than the fish. Would I return? Probably so, but not for their fish items or sides, just the shrimp and hush puppies. Fishbone, I suggest you do some taste testing on your products because they are definitely BLAND! read more

I drive an ambulance for work. I was put on break in the area and yelped food. Fishbone seafood came up. The restaurant doesn't look like much but the food here is amazing! I ordered the shrimp po boy and the gumbo. The shrimp po boy was delicious. My favorite po boy anywhere. I like fishbones shrimp po boy more than the ones ive tried on bourbon st in new orleans. My work partner is from georgia and he said the fishbone po boy is one of the best po boys he had also. I included a photo of the po boy but not the gumbo. By the time I realized i should write a review for this gem i had already finished the gumbo. That was some really good gumbo. Great value, delicious food and friendly staff.
