Been here too many times to keep track. I'm a sucker for their burger combo, a double isn't much more. Even the turkey is rich in flavor and a double turkey burger is one of my go to items. Parking is a little tight here but there are some neighbors with lots that won't tow you if you're quick lol. Placing the orders online is the best way, no phone orders, no in person sitting so for some people that could be a negative but thankfully it's by my work so I usually just eat at my desk anyways. The breakfast is pretty good too and you get a decent amount of food for not too high a cost, the guests are good (I usually ask for less butter) and the burger and turkey are worth trying (I usually get easy mayo) Also the tacos both beef and turkey are worth a try and also regularly ordered items for me. I forgot just how incredible Naka's Broiler is until recently, and I am so glad I ordered from here! I got the pork chop breakfast, and it was beyond satisfying. It came with two perfectly seasoned pork chops, eggs, potatoes, and a choice of bread, pancakes, or French toast (I couldn't resist adding the French toast and a side of grits- it was worth every bite). The portions were generous, and everything was packed with flavor! The grits and potatoes were seasoned just right, making this meal an absolute delight from start to finish. Great customer service (husband and wife team) that have been apart of the community since forever. The food is average priced and there is a respectable 15 minute wait because the food is cooked to order but, DELICIOUS. I ordered a turkey cheese burger with smothered onions and all the trimmings and then a specialty turkey cheese combo. The inside is small but inviting to have great convo with other customers or staff. This is an extremely late post, but wanted to let the community know their taste buds will thank them. May Mama Naka R.I.P. I used to patronize this restaurant when I was in high school across the street [Centennial.] Mama Naka was so nice, she would talk to you while your food was coooking and she remembered what you said to her the previous week and asked about it, very personable. Her son, who's running the restaurant now is a complete idiot, who yells at your every chance he gets, and demand that you park in someone else's parking lot. Screaming at you. It was so appalling and this was the second time he yelled at me, the first, I was just droppiing by to see if Mama was still with us and was going to buy a burger. Old school since 1956. This is a very small restaurant that seems to have a following for their breakfast deals. I went for lunch and ordered a double turkey cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, and their homemade lemonade. Here is my opinion on the food and service. 5 stars - very nice lady waitress and cook 5 stars - quick delivery of food 5 stars - owner very nice and friendly 4 stars - fresh homemade style burger 2 stars - lemonade overpriced and too sweet 1 star - chili cheese fries, didn't care for them at all They close early at 300pm, so the next time I go back I want to try out the breakfast deals. I tried patronizing this place when I lived in the area and watched how the grouchy old man would yell at his assistant and other people. One day he smiled and was polite to an Hispanic family. I was done the day I complained that the coffee was very weak, he yelled at me saying he's been making coffee for 30 years, so I yelled at him telling him he should have it right by now! Last summer ('07), LA Times published an article on Mdme Katherine Banks and the beloved restaurant she owned with her husband (until 1991). In between chasing rib tips and other soul food, Naka's was forgotten in the background; figured it ain't going nowhere. Then I read a Yelp thread that went full f-tard: http://www.yelp.com/topic/los-angeles-la-cities-underserved-by-yelp , remembered a random burger joint mentioned in this Chowhound thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/411365 , and set forth on my red Italian iron steed while wearing green jacket (for the a total CYA effect ya know). As a point of reference, Naka's Broiler is across Centennial High School. The result? Holy mother of god.. how did I miss this place? You have your typical burger shacks ala Mom's, Master's, The Burger Stand, Fred's Downhome, etc, and then you have this: an actual 'hood diner! Please note the usage of 'hood, and not 'ghetto. There is nothing ghetto about Naka's. It's a self-respecting joint. Mr. Fisher, who bought the place in '91, runs a tight/clean/neat ship. He brushes and wipes the broiler between grillin' and the there's nary a dribble of graffiti in the vicinity. The cook is the "daddy" and the visiting diners are all "playahs". You know some hip hop artist grew up eating Naka's. You know the LA Riots didn't touch Naka's. It's an institution. However! Some doofus decided to order a turkey burger with turkey bacon. Who does that! In Compton! Yes turkey burgers is the preferred 'hood burger of choice but.. turkey bacon!#$@%@ Ugh!! My bad. Really. It's a solid burger tho. Not spectacular ala Mom's, but hand formed patty on a Wonderbread-esque bun, topped with crisp Iceberg, tomato, wayyyyy too much raw white onion and a wee bit of mayo. One of the nastiest attitude in the food business, very arrogant and ugly always have been! He's just older and even meaner. He has no respect for women never had! Legendary spot in Compton. My friends and I have had many-a-meal from there. Great food, great service.

It says open 24 hours. I tried to go Monday at 3:30 pm only to hear they're going to be closing at 4:00 pm. Had I not called I would have took a trip past a couple of cities for no reason. So when I did visit the location two days later, I ordered four tacos with sauce on the side only to find out they don't put the sauce on the side either get it or I don't. To go along with the unwelcoming customer service, the tacos had a sweet taste to them I believe it's your homemade sauce so this ruined the tacos for me. The chili cheese fries is made with sliced sandwich cheese. It didn't help any that I was told to go to my car and they'll bring it to me as if I'm not welcome to sit inside. Unwelcoming personalities, and bad food is enough for me to say I will not be back!!! read more

Omg!! Where do I start! I support black owned business. But when the owner is rude to his employees &&&&& customers, my support is out the window. I had breakfast togo yesterday and I had a great experience, we talked about how his business is slowing down because of the economy. Today I came back for breakfast again and my experience wasn't so great! The economy isn't his issue for slow business it's his effin attitude, he was rude to me and the poor lady that works for him. Always wanted to try this place because i live in Compton and heard it was black owned so my aunt took me there for the first time yesterday. This is why I love yelp because alot of the reviews are right on point and will give you the heads up before trying it yourself. So lets start with the cook which im finding out by reading the reviews that he's the son of the owner. He has no people skills at all hes way to aggressive and has a attitude like he doesn't want to be there or better yet like he didn't get none last night and he's just taking his frustrations out on the customers. Dude its bitter and mad at the world for whatever reason but like a few reviews said long as he's running it this place will definitely be ran to the ground and 60 year legacy will sadly come to a end. Never Again! The only reason this place is still going is because they are across the street from a high school. The guy that works here is fucking rude. I had turkey burger that was okay. I definitely could have made it at home. Nothing special. They have a "if you change your order we will kick you out vibe." If you want something prepared differently than they are used to preparing it, be ready to beg the cook or deal with a nasty look followed by a "your lucky I'm doing this for you!" Literally.
