First and foremost, I have to update my review -- apparently, the great experience my buddy and I had after work was a complete anomaly. Since moving to my new office (just three buildings down), I've been back twice for lunch, and both times were exactly what you'd expect from a forced-gratuity spot: God awful. The second visit really sealed it for me. I checked in on Swarm, so I know the timeline -- from the time I checked in to the time I got my food, it was 45 minutes. That's ridiculous for lunch. I only get an hour, but I ended up there for an hour and 20 minutes. Not good. Service? Even worse. The waitress never came back to check on me, and when I was finally ready to leave, I had to hunt her down for the bill. At one point, I just sat there... and sat there... to the point I was about ready to walk out. When she finally reappeared, she said, "Oh, I was in the back" -- whatever that means. If you've got a long lunch break and don't mind a server disappearing for most of your meal, sure, this is your spot. But if you're on a time crunch? Avoid it. This is not the place for a quick, quality lunch.

Sunday dinner with family of 8. Not many ppl there. Waiter Troy was very good but it took almost 30 minutes before our food arrived but it was hot. Everything was tasty.

This was my first time coming to Fishbones and eating the food. I didn't check Yelp so I did not realize how low ranked this place was. My experience on the day that I came in a nutshell. Ambiance: I can see the effort to make it resemble New Orleans with the beads at the front. Nothing really stood out in the decor to make it come across as authentic. The service: it was extremely slow at first. We were told only one person is working. However, they eventually got more staff. Troy was a great for our table. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, very fast at getting orders in. He also had great suggestions. 10/10 The food: I started with an oyster rock. as an appetizer and it definitely tasted very good. But the price for 4 oysters has never been around 20 not even in good ol Louisiana so that caught me by surprise. Then I ordered a crawfish was tasty. I tried a drink of happy hour that was tasty as well. Bill: they automatically added 18 gratuity on each. This was fine because we both tipped 20 percent. But if my service would have sucked, I would've been annoyed tipping that for poor service. We talked with the manager while we were there and he was welcoming.

Fishbones Southfield location is consistently hot and delicious. During this visit, crab cakes, new on the menu grilled red snapper with shrimp and Catfish atchafalaya and French rolls with herded butter. The server suggested new items on the menu. The seat covers have been replaced since the last visit. The atmosphere improved. Brava.

First timer! My food was amazing. The service is slow as they seem to be very understaffed. They are also more expensive than I imagined + 18% gratuity on all checks. Nice, clean restaurant.

This place was nice walking in to the restaurant. They have a nice set up and its nice they have live music. It took us 20 minutes to get a waiter to take our orders. One of the group members had to ask for one. The waitress we did end up having was friendly. The food was just ok. I think the seafood pasta was good but everything else was just ok--it was not impressive.

    A salted rim margarita. Mmmmmmmm

This place came highly recommended by a coworker. The i once inside there is a huge aquarium. We were greeted with a smile. Our server was friendly but very forgetful. Maybe overworked. He would make serval trips to the table to bring each item. I ordered the Faroe island salmon with loaded mashed potatoes. Imagine my surprise when the lobster sauce was not on plate and my potatoes were not loaded. My first thought was he is going to take this back and remake it, but no. I was brought a small ramekin of cheese and sour cream . Then 10 minutes later a small ramekin of lobster sauce. The disappointment was overwhelming. The prenatal drinks were great... well MY drink was . If you stop by get the old camp peach old fashioned. Best old fashion I have had this year. Now my colleague asked about frozen drinks . He recommended a daiquiri. What he brought out was not frozen and topped with vodka. When she asked what it was he said a daiquiri but our blender is broken . If you come have a drink. Not a frozen one .

There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. Bill was pricey but it was a special occasion and I would definitely return for another.

We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.

It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.

The filet was incredibly tender, with a bold pepper crust and rich port wine mushroom demi-glace, served alongside Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The added lobster tail was succulent and buttery, creating an indulgent surf-and-turf combination that highlighted the freshness and quality of their ingredients. My partner opted for the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes as her main dish, and they were outstanding, packed with sweet, lump crab meat, lightly breaded for a crispy exterior, and served with house-made tartar sauce and fresh sides. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, without any unnecessary fillers. The service truly made the evening special; our waitress Chris was amazing! She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. Sad to say we were truly disappointed. When we walked in there were plenty of open tables (about 7-10), yet we were stuck waiting for 30 minutes in the hallway of a strip mall. Finally once seated, it took the server another 30 minutes to greet us and come take our order. The plus was that there were already menus on the table. Once we placed our order, the wait was extremely long for some boiled shrimp in a bag. Tables who later came after us were already receiving food and fast service. The anticipation grew, as after so long we were presented with bibs, time passed, then presented with paper for the table, time passed, then finally our food arrived (another hour of waiting for boiled shrimp) I had the shrimp po boy and French fries, both which were pretty good. As we were ordering we tried to place a carry out order. In which, we were instructed to wait as it would be "best" to order closer to the time we leave. The waitress was rude and very soft spoken. Her demeanor was nonchalant and non welcoming. She disappeared and then returned once a hour to accommodate us but failed to check in on our experience. Overall, the food was okay. My friends didn't really enjoy the crab legs and shrimp. They stated it lacked flavor and tasted like straight butter. With our experience with seafood places, i agree with their concern.
