Imma give this a 3 star. Not as good as it use to be. Shrimps were overbreaded and spongy.

(Video included.) The ambiance is perfect for the name and Heather was a Mermaid in disguise. She lured us in with her smile and friendly banter. We ordered Lilly's Light and A Strange Stout. Our meals were the fish sandwich with fries and two Creole Soup with bread and crackers. All three of us loved it here and so will you. Royal treatment in Royal Oak, Michigan.

I got it with chips and salsa and their salsa was made in-house which was good but not as spicy as I thought it'd be as the waitress warned it to be. I had fries from my friend's plate and it was good but I prefer fat fries over skinny ones. My friends and I all got a chiller but one of us specifically got the Soft Serve Martini as seen on TikTok. Basically a Salted Caramel Martini as a chiller and our waitress said the bartenders do not love making those because it takes time but it would take the same amount of time for a chiller... That drink was the best out of all of ours. I had the Mudslide which was also good. I wish the chocolate was a little more incorporated other than the glass rimming. My friend also wished her White Russian had a bit more coffee flavoring. The restaurant itself has a really nice vibe and decorations. I love the booths with hooks on the side (which I didn't see till the end lol). It's also in a great spot in Royal Oak next to so many other cool places.

It's relatively small inside, but the outdoor seating is comfortable, and the bar looks like a great place to sit if you can grab a seat. The service was outstanding. Everyone knew the menu inside and out, had great recommendations, and kept everything moving at the perfect pace. We tried both the hot and cold lobster rolls, and both were excellent. The Millennium Falcon seafood tower was the star of the meal--fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely worth ordering. The oysters were some of the best I've had recently, especially considering we're this far from the ocean. The crab dip was unique, flavorful, and something I'd happily order again. The only dish that didn't quite hit for me was the lobster gnocchi. It was presented beautifully, but for my palate there was just a little too much tarragon in the cream sauce. That's more of a personal preference than a flaw in the dish. The restrooms were clean, parking is limited, but so is the seating, so it seems to balance out. Overall, there's really not much bad to say about Voyager. Excellent seafood, knowledgeable service, and a fun atmosphere make it one of the better dining experiences in the area. I'd gladly return

While it wasn't totally full, I was still surprised at how busy it was so I would try and make a reservation. Decently sized bar and a fair amount of seats but it's a relatively small interior. Our waitress was fantastic. She walked us through the specials and was extremely patient with us trying to decide what all to order. 10/10 service. The food was spectacular. We started with a dozen oysters. They were fantastic. Didn't even need cocktail sauce or mignonette. We also did an order of the buffalo halibut cheeks which was a special. Wow. What a dish. Not too spicy in part because of the ranch that came with it; the cheeks were perfectly cooked. They could not have been more tender. One of the best bites I've had in quite some time. We did another dozen oysters which came from a different spot. I thought that was a nice touch. For $2 an oyster, they were begging us to order haha. Seriously though; fantastic deal. Finally, I had the fish sandwich. The tartare sauce was a bit overpowering but I liked the taste so no complaints. Fish was perfectly fried and I liked the inclusion of pickles of which there were many. A very solid fish sandwich. They brought us a brownie and a bit of ice cream on the house which I very much appreciated. Talk about a delicious brownie. It had no right being that good. Must order. Glad I finally tried Voyager and I can't wait to return. I could see this getting a Bib Gourmand Michelin recognition next year.

Service (4.75/5): Our main server was very friendly and gave us a good overview of the menu as it was our first time. They were great and attentive. We were also served by a second server who dropped off our food and disappeared so quickly that we waited a while before they walked by again. When we finally got the chance to ask for soy sauce and sauce dishes, they grabbed the soy sauce from a nearby table and left before we could even get to asking for the sauce dishes. Nothing terrible, but we did feel a little awkward. Food (4/5): Sushi was both good and not good. Of the 3 rolls we ordered, the salmon avocado and tuna avocado were solid; the proportion of fish to rice was great and the fish quality was above average from your typical sushi restaurant. However, the Tigerlily was quite disappointing, especially at $22 for the roll. The roll was torched a bit too long, cooking the salmon almost all the way, but my main gripe was a mysterious creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. The roll ended up being way too heavy and the sauce overpowered the salmon and the little bit of ikura that was sprinkled on top. On the other hand, the chicken katsu sando was really excellent. Chicken was juicy, breading was light and crispy, and the fries were well-seasoned. My only suggestion for the kitchen is to slice the sandwich vertically instead of horizontally; you can see that the bread on half of the sandwich was mostly crust/air instead of the actual bread part. Ambiance (4/5): It's got an upscale, modern feel to it that would probably make a nice environment for a date night or catching up with friends over happy hour. I was there on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't crowded. There was music playing but it wasn't too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation.
