El Casco Lakes Resort and Fisherman's Retreat!
    Anthony T.

I think everyone should read this article. I called the retreat and they told me no stocking in 2025 and it was $50! Unfortunately, I can't do it! That's almost year long fishing license prices! If it was heavily stocked and taken care of really well and updated I may actually drop the money here and there but not for the low water levels and that they are doing to the property is exactly what they did to El Casco Lakes Resort right down the street! Crazy because I use to fish all the lakes they mentioned growing up and what happened to one I do believe is happening to this one. Enjoy the article as it was very informative!

Great place to take the kid on a Sunday afternoon! Not too many people but beautiful spring day. He didn't catch anything but oh well next time!

    Entry fees

Whoever took over the place when they were about to shut down has completely ruined it. Nothing but greedy, money hungry people. They don't even stock the lakes anymore, the water level is decreasing to nothing, and now they want to charge an insane $50 dollars just to fish in these sad little ponds that no longer get stocked?? Not to mention nothing around the park has been updated at all it's getting run down to trash. DO NOT waste any more money here, whoever's running it is just putting the money straight into their pockets and not investing into the community.

12/7/2024 - I called Fisherman's Retreat to ask if it was possible to still catch Catfish during Trout Season. Ranger Ben let me know it's absolutely possible! He recommended a bait and set up for me and said to come on down and where to find him. Once I arrived he was extra welcome and even helped me set up my equipment the proper way. After all my years no one has really took their time to truly show me the right way and why we do it a certain way. I had my 2yr old daughter with me and he was extremely patient with both of us ! He even helped me out with a couple pieces of equipment that helped my set-up... Sure enough we caught a CATFISH !

Cool place. Don't expect luxury here. Overall the staff have always been helpful and nice. Been coming here since I was younger and I enjoy coming here now as an adult. 24 hours fishing! Can't beat that. Fire pits are scarce on availability so best to bring your own heat source. They sell firewood and bait at the front gate. Edited my review to attach some photos I've taken here.

Loved the experience , caught a couple fishes and even tho I am a first time fisher woman I loved fishing

The sun about to rise at the lake

I had a wonderful time fishing at the lake. We caught about 8 catfish that night. Sat night into Sunday morning. Nice peaceful a few raccoons trying to steal our fish was the only issue. Lol . But even the raccoons were funny after awhile. People trying to shoo them away. The night patrol was really cool. Stopped to see our tickets and talk for a min then he was off to the next person. The big lake is where everyone was fishing. Not to sure if anyone was fishing in the members lake that night because the members were on our side fishing. Sitting back enjoying The Lords scenery and just relaxing my mind .

You can always catch fish here

They want others to bail the mess they got into. Too expensive, go to a county park where they stick fish and keep things clean.

It's a secure and peaceful gated community where you can feel safe. The neighbors are friendly and respectful, which adds so much to the overall experience. Love the idea that there is a pet park and grass areas for our little furry family members. I really felt very comfortable knowing that property managers Maria and Jessie are truly outstanding--always attentive, proactive, and genuinely caring, from the time I first came to the park, until the time I left. You can tell they take pride in the park and the community. It's rare to find an RV park that feels this safe, organized, and welcoming. I highly recommend short or long term stays, this place is what an RV park should be! Thank you so much we really enjoyed our stay!

Lets start off by you're micro managing ways you have you're sister working there and also her husband you go around telling everyone how you're husband is in law enforcement and how you are known around there like " the little ninja " and all you do is look for ways of writing people up . I was not going to say this but you asking me why I don't have a woman coming to my rv is very personal also you told me how you can watch everything from you're cameras at home I think you're narcissistic definitely. Since your husband is Caucasian and he is in law enforcement he should send you to school so you can take a management class . Also you only rent to the race you like and if you can't be In there business you get rid of them for anything petty. You also claim you are kid friendly but you kicked a lady and her 5 kids out just because they were playing like kids do In the summer if I can give you a negative star I would . Everyone please stay away from this micro managed rv park . It's clean but that's it . Maria makes you feel like this is a jail that you are paying for . I have never been to a park where a manager (maria ) tells you I have been doing my rounds . I kept everything clean just like you said and you still told me I can stay even after you told me to leave I no longer can deal with your w narcissist attitude . Also you told me that you are not the owner and you should not be telling people you are . Every time you get in a jam you call you husband .im not the type but you will run into someone that's going to sue you . Especially after you asked me does it get lonely because you don't see a woman going into my rv . That's not appropriate for a lady that claims you are married to law enforcement.

It has a pathetic "lake" that is 3 feet deep. It has a disgusting main shared room that is nothing more than a few folding tables with papers taped to them, and some old disgusting couches and chairs. It has a dirty microwave and a coffee maker. But the real issue is that Colorado river adventures is a scam. They claim that you get a one time pass at this amazing "deal" of booking a timeshare with their company. As of today's date a "package" ranges between 9 and 11k with a 500 a year matinenece fee. They claim you can use all this stuff and book all these international and coast to cost things but again its all a scam. When you book they offer you all sorts of free stuff - but it all has strings attached. The gift of the gas card can only be used if you buy in 50 dollar increments 60 dollars apart and they may or may not give you the rebate based on if you qualify st that time. Its not guaranteed. The tablet is a joke. My kid got bored with it in a matter of minutes. It loses charge in 30 minutes and has no capabilities. It also feels like a toy you'd buy on ali express for 8 dollars. But hey its free so whatever. I was promised a 20 night stay and was told I won a contest and if I wanted I could also tour their other locations incase I was interested. They booked me at cherry valley because it was closest to me. I double checked because I didn't want it to null my offer because let's be honest cherry valley has horrid (all honest) reviews. These people lied. There's no two ways around it. They lure you in and attempt to force you to buy and when you don't want to they basically throw a fit and kick you out. I was worried by the reviews and when I called to ask about them was told that the reviews are by disgruntled people who didn't qualify. That's not true, my income alone more than qualified me to be here, and I was willing to buy their most expensive package in cash that day. But if your company is going to lie to me to get me in the door, your tour of the facility is a complete joke, with decapitated conditions, then why would I trust anything else you had to offer. Buyer beware. This place is a straight up scam, poorly run by people who look like they are still living in the 80s, and are completely out of touch with reality, and who have 0 relationship woth the truth.

To reach the ponds, after you park, you'll need to walk upwards to the left where there is a dirt foot trail to the ponds. There are two ponds. The first one that you'll see, is the smaller one. There are a few ducks that were here when we arrived. We saw several people fishing in this pond because the park recently stocked up the pond with fish. Although, when I spoke to someone who was leaving, they caught 3 fishes and were heading home. Another person who just arrived an hour earlier, still didn't catch any fish. My advice is to go early in the morning when the fish are hungry to catch the fish. To see the larger pond, just keep heading upwards to the right and you'll immediately see it to your left. This pond has most of the ducks congregating here. We saw less people fishing at this pond maybe because there were more ducks. The main reason to going to this park was to feed the ducks. You're not supposed to feed them bread. We brought bird seeds and sunflower seeds (with no salt) with us. When we went, there were three types of ducks: Mallards (The males have the pretty green colored feathers from their head to their necks while the females are covered with different shades of brown. I like the light tan feathered ones. You may see the all-white feathered Mallard which is pretty too.) Muscovy (they look like they're wearing red masks lol) The ones here were rather large compared to the other ducks. American Wigeon (they're smaller than the Mallard & Muscovy with green feather streak from their eyes going down their necks. At the top of their heads, the feathers are a white streak going down their necks as well. The main part of their body is covered with brown feathers.) Overall, we had an enjoyable time here feeding the ducks and relaxing in the park. Great free activity to bring along your kids to see the ducks. Just remember not to feed them bread because it lacks nutritional value and can lead to health problems for the birds.
