Every year I take my dog for his annual the less I like the vets and some of the techs. The front staff are nice and I dont have issues with them. Have taken my dog here since I adopted him in 2020. His very first visit for a checkup and vaccines was fine. But soon I had to take him about every 6 months to get his nails trimmed because he absolutely hated having his paws touched. They prescribed him trazadone which they realized wasn't enough. They added other medications and despite my saying none of it was helping they persisted till I said he probably needs to be fully sedated. After about 1.5-2 years of this crap I was finally able to trim his nails enough on my own so I wouldn't have to take him to the vet which he was now completely fearful of. 2 years ago I scheduled just an annual checkup, I hadn't had his nails cut there for about a year. They started telling me about his medication protocol. I told them he didn't need medications or sedation, that was for the nail cuts. After a bit I finally got them to drop it and I went to the appointment. My dog was scared and yes a bit reactive (as in turning to see what was happening) when they gave him shots, no snapping or biting not even any contact of his mouth to any part of the vet/tech. They had me muzzle him then wrap his head in a towel. Great, that's not gonna frighten an already scared dog. Afterwards I told them he'd do better without any of that. Last year I scheduled another annual. Same bs about medication protocol. I said no. The vet came into the room already scared of my dog who they'd never seen before. Throughout the physical exam they were afraid (jumpy and quick to run/ backoff at any movement) despite my dog not growling, snarling, biting, snapping, or making any aggressive movements. I let them know he's sensitive about his paws and being grabbed under his pits. No incident for the physical exam, he didn't react at all as they stuck an otoscope in his ear. The first vaccine was administered orally. The vet was obviously fearful and asked if I wanted to do it. I opened his mouth and they squirted it in his mouth. Again no reaction besides the usual yuck reaction dogs do. Since I know they're fearing my dog is going to maul them I held his head while they give the first shot near his pit. He reacted as any dog (or human) not expecting being poked would by turning to see what's happening. They immediately run out the door to get help restraining him. The rest of the shots go in his back half. He's doing a low growl but I'm holding his head, he's not even moving at this point as they give the shots and take blood. I get that a scared dog is just as dangerous as an aggressive one but if a vet can't tell the difference between a normal "I'm scared" and a "I'm scared and I'm going to bite you" wth! My dog has never snapped at anyone, I honestly wonder what they have in his record or if the vets are so inexperienced with dogs that they can't read behaviors. I don't think I've ever had the same vet twice here, seems like they just do their time and move on. The last straw was at the end of the exam the vet suggesting my dog is reactive and should be sedated for future visits cause he'll escalate. He's actually gotten better about visits, less jumpy and less reactive. They never listen to me and repeatedly do things to make him more fearful. read more

I was recommended to this vet by a coworker. They were helpful with dental work my cat needed. But, I asked about the consistent eye problems my cat has had the last 4 years. The vet Dr. Brown dismissed it as conjunctivitis and told me there was not much I could really do about it besides lysine and occasional various meds. I recently had to go to an emergency vet for her eyes where the vet said it was the worse case she had ever seen where she had holes in her eyes and her pupil was stuck to her eyelid. She ended up having a genetic condition with her eyelids folding in. Very disappointed that the vet couldn't take a few minutes to look at her eyes to help diagnose her. Be mindful of this vet if you feel he isn't trying to ensure your pet is ok. read more

I had been taking my dogs to this vet for several years, but recently had a horrible experience and will never go back. Two of the vets diagnosed my older dog with hemangiosarcoma (one of the deadliest cancers a dog could have) after an ultrasound. When the vet notified me, the situation was poorly handled - she prescribed some medication, apologized, and indicated there's nothing else that could be done because the cancer had metastasized from his spleen to his liver and adrenal glands. They asked whether my dog's symptoms were bad enough (he was having accidents in the house), almost suggesting I could put him down. She also didn't refer me to any other vets that could use more definitive diagnostics. Luckily, I went to the VCA to get an oncologist's opinion to find out he DOES NOT have hemangiosarcoma. The "cancer" in his liver was benign, the "cancer" in his spleen was benign and the only thing that was truly malignant was in his adrenal glands which was surgically removed. I'm extremely thankful I got a second opinion with a specialist and think the vets at Fishers need to learn how to admit they don't know what it is rather than diagnosing my dog with the worst type of cancer out there under false pretenses. I don't think they understand how damaging and emotionally draining that was and hope no one else has to go through this nightmare. read more

I am so very grateful for all of the care Fishers Veterinary Hospital has given my cat! I have not had one bad experience here and I've been taking my cat here for over a year. The staff is always friendly, will answer any questions you have, and truly adore your pets. They have multiple locations located in the area and they even have Saturday hours! I have a Bengal cat and he is the craziest (and coolest) little dude you'll ever meet. Due to his natural instincts he gets into everything and is super active. Whenever I've had an emergency come up Fishers Vet had a bet on-call to help answer my questions and make sure my cat was okay. Recently my cat has decided that I'm not allowed to trim his claws anymore so luckily they're also here to provide services like that too. I specifically want to call out Dr. Collins. Regarding my review of Fishers Veterinary hospital posted 12/27/2020 where Jackie responded saying to call if I wanted to discuss anything, perhaps she forgot that I called and spoke to her 2 days after my cat was euthanized and several days before I posted.I discussed every situation that I referred to and included names and details. We made the excruciating decision to put our 18 yo Border Collie down and I will always be grateful for the kindness and empathy shown by Dr. Mozeika and staff. They provided a loving atmosphere where we could be with Daisy before, during and after. Dr. Mozeika took time to listen and counsel before the procedure. We didn't feel rushed after the procedure took place. A few days later, we received a beautiful hand-written note from Dr. Mozeika. People tend to believe that if there are mostly positive reviews, the bad cases must be "rare." That's simply untrue. This is a WARNING if you would be devastated to lose to your dog. FVH is so far from what it was founded as, I don't know how David Brown sleeps at night, other than profiting from a trust he built decades ago, but has long since failed to honor. YOU may have been lucky so far, but that's NOT the case for so many former pets. Their DELIBERATE & NEGLIGENT actions, resulted in the unnecessary suffering and DEATH of my precious dog. She did NOT deserve to be forgotten & left to suffer ALL ALONE while in your care! What kind of Vet could/would do that to an innocent animal?! As long as I'm breathing, I will FIGHT to educate & warn people. I will not stop until I'm satisfied that she didn't die in vain! Trust me, money in retribution, does NOT equal Justice! I never wanted money, your other client's earned you, to shut me up; I wanted my dog back! But she's gone forever thanks to you. If ANY Vet isn't taking you seriously, or you're worried, do NOT wait/hope/trust-take your pet to another Vet! It is NOT worth risking their life to be loyal. Fishers Vet doesn't care about individuals. Years ago it was VERY different, and that's why I chose it. Unfortunately I stayed, even after noticing a drastic decline. I hate myself for that. No one can bring my sweet, innocent dog back, but I DON'T want this to happen to anyone else. There are MANY incredible Vets in the area; please change before you're devastated like me. My dog NEEDLESSLY suffered & died! It wasn't a "mistake." It wasn't something that "could've happened anywhere." They KNEW her symptoms (I documented & recorded everything, so should YOU!); they made a conscious CHOICE to fail to act appropriately, neglecting her DIRE, deteriorating health & because of that, and ONLY that, she suffered in THEIR care and ultimately died. In fact, Dr Brown, told me I was "overreacting" when I called to say her breathing had changed; he had the audacity to say "She will breathe through her mouth if she needs to." I trusted him & Fishers Vets & because of that, my best friend in the world is DEAD. I had to euthanize her less than 18 hours after he told me that! So he's either profoundly incompetent or has lost his moral compass & no longer has ANY business administering medical advice/treatment. Like I said, I will NEVER quit until *I* believe Justice has been served & until they make changes to improve so no one else EVER has to endure the devastating pain I'm now suffering. She was NOT "just another patient." She was my FAMILY and we both deserved better! Shame on you "Doctor" Brown, "Doctor" Collins and "Doctor" Cloud. HOW COULD YOU?! I don't know how you're at peace when you look in the mirror knowing what you did to my precious dog and a client who trusted you for so long. read more

This hospital comes up when you search for an emergency location. It was also suggested by my usual vet clinic who couldn't see us. I had a cat who had been poisoned by a plant and tried to come in and they refused to see us. I told them they were listed as an emergency facility and she said, "well we aren't." Very disappointed in how they handled my situation, given I was right outside their door with an extremely alarming and potentially life threatening problem. I'll start by saying that there are wonderful Veterinarian's here as well as a caring staff. However-I do not recommend Dr. Brown. I'm sure there are wonderful stories, but let me tell you mine. I boarded Gracie with Fishers Veterinary last Wedneday over Thanksgiving. We were going out of town. This was Gracie's first time away from me. Gracie is a Great Dane mix (more Dane). I was planning on picking her up on Saturday but on our way home on Friday-I made a call to check up on Gracie. She wasn't doing well-not eating and really nervous. I made no stops and picked her up on Friday. She was so happy to see me and my 7yr old daughter. I fed Gracie a little bit on Friday night because I didn't want her to get sick and eat too fast. On Saturday morning I took Gracie out to potty. She was walking really slow (she wasn't even 2yrs old yet). She peed but could't poop. She tried to throw -up and was foaming at the mouth. She laid down. I just knew that she had bloat because I read about it. I always made sure she didn't play right after she ate her food or drank water for half an hour. I called and talked to Sue (love her). She told me to come right in. I'm a single mother so my 7yr old daughter was with me. My Veterinarian wasn't there but Dr. Brown was. He stated that he needed to take x-rays and that if she has bloat and needed surgery it would cost $2500. He walked us up to the desk to sign papers and said he needed for me to make a $500 deposit. Done! He said that he was going to try to put a tube through her stomach and give Gracie antacids. He said he needed to sedate her and he would call us. Hailey (my daughter) and I went to my sister's house. Right away I set up a "Go-Fund-Me" page. Dr. Brown called and said that he needed to do surgery. I told him about the the Go-Fund -Me account because I didn't have $2500. He didn't offer me a payment plan. I also told him that I'm calling all of the hospitals to see if I could have help. He stated that it's more expensive. The hospitals didn't help because I wasn't a "client". I've been Fishers Veterinary client for some time. I asked Dr. Brown how much time I had and if we could make Gracie comfortable to see how she would do. He said that his staff is not equipped to stay with her all day and night. When a dog has bloat you have to act fast. My options ran out because Dr. Brown didn't offer me a payment plan. My daughter and I went to say goodbye to Gracie. I was ushered to a room to sign papers. I'm crying, my daughter is crying. The door is partway open and I see Dr. Brown peek in. He walked away. He didn't come in to console us. We didn't want to say good-bye to our dog. She was family. I'm crying and the girl whom I never met before pushed a paper towards me to let me see that I own another $300!! Dr. Brown showed NO COMPASSION. My 7yr old daughter is asking me why he won't save our dog. I don't understand and I'm so angry!!! A friend's fiance called because they are furious on what happened with Gracie. He said that he offered me a payment plan!! Not true . I would have raised the money. I just bought a new car because my old car had $2500 worth of safety issues that needed to be fix (same week). I was denied care credit. Dr. Brown should have saved Gracie. He needs to face my 7yr old daughter and tell her why he didn't save her. Words can't describe how hurt we are. I have not received one phone call from the co-owner who I want to talk to because I will not talk to Dr. Brown. No one has called. Note: Gracie had two cups of her dog food Wednesday morning before I boarded her there. I called Friday to see how she was doing....they didn't answer calls on Thanksgiving- Gracie didn't eat until I picked her up Friday before 5. No phone call that she was having issues. I'm the one that called!!!!! read more

Greedy people that don't care about pets, especially at the end of their life. My cat was diagnosed with cancer by them. I called in to ask for some pain meds to help him not be in pain in his final days, as he had started limping. I was told they could call in non-opioids without seeing him. When I called to get a refill after 15 days, I was told that they had to see him. So they want me to subject a dying cat that is in pain to an office visit and a needless rabies shot(never been outdoors in 16 years), so they can prescribe the equivalent of Tylenol. I will never take any pet there ever again and will make sure to spread the word that these people don't care about pets, just money. Please go somewhere that cares about you and your pets. read more

We have been taking our dog and two cats to the Fishers Veterinary Hospital since we adopted them. We love this hospital. They are reasonably priced, professional, and thorough. We especially like the fact that the see after hours emergencies as we have had a few incidents with our dog and chocolate, underwear, and an unfortunate incident with a tennis ball! We have experience with a few of the different doctors. On the occasion that our animals have been sick, they are very good about reviewing all options and helping make the best decision for our pets. My cats and I love Dr. Cable! I have seen her at the Carmel and Fishers locations. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and goes the extra mile. She carries a basket full of treats and toys to entertain the animals. I'm moving cross country so I asked for advice on transporting the cats and she printed out several articles on acclimating them to their carriers and the car, what to do about food and litter box, and helping them adjust to their new home. I had gone to Parkside Animal Hospital before and had a negative experience- asked a male vet there the same question and he just abruptly said he doesn't approve of medicating pets on drives- which I never even asked about. He made me feel like a pill seeker, which I have a lot of experience with, being a pharmacist and I wouldn't treat my patients like that. I asked that vet about litter, making them at ease, etc and he didn't have any advice. So I really appreciate Dr. Cable's extra effort (I didn't even mention the other vet because this was my other cat and I wanted as much advice as possible). When I called Carmel Veterinary Clinic now closer to my move, I actually asked about medicating my older cat because she had escaped twice in the past three weeks while my parents had my two cats as we set up our move out of state. I was fine with Benadryl or whatever recommended but wanted her advice and safe dosing. Dr. Cable called me back personally and we talked and I brought both cats in for weight check for dosing and also to go over last minute concerns. Great service! The office staff at both Carmel and Fishers are very friendly and helpful too. I switched to Fishers vet after a recommendation from a friend because I was not pleased with my vet. Dr Lee is AMAZING. She treats my dog and I as if we are her only clients. My 2 year old lab has many many allergies and she has worked diligently with me to solve these problems, even down to computing a special recipe of food I make for my lab. She always calls me back even if its in the evening hours. We truly feel cared for here. The other staff is excellent as well, always loving on my Sadie and giving her the princess treatment. I have complete confidence in this place and will never go anywhere else. They really go above and beyond. read more

I tried taking my new golden doodle puppy here on a Saturday morning. My appointment was for 7:50 AM and I arrived about 745. Because of coronavirus going on they apparently wanted us to call and wait at our cars and they would come out and get the dog. This is great except for the fact that they never communicated this and they let me stand outside for 20 minutes with my dog just looking at me. Never was I told about this no one came out to tell me I just stood there with them staring at me and they finally came out and told me that I needed to call for them to take my dog when I was standing right there. I'm not saying I don't agree with what they are doing but they are acting like we are not people. If you're going to take precautions at least communicate them with your customers. Since we have a new dog I probably wouldn't have come if I knew they were just going to take my puppy and make me wait outside. We will not be coming back and I'm not torturing my dog at his first vet visit. read more

Due to a Spay Neuter Services of Indiana coupon, I decided to try Fishers Veterinary Hospital as a possible trial for my rescue dog's spay and neuters. I have had over 40 dogs altered in 4 months so hearing that the vet refused to neuter a dog due to having slight kennel cough was a surprise. The dog showed no major signs of congestion or frequent cough and had been on an antibiotic for over a week. I totally respect this facilities decision not to conduct a simple neuter if there are any signs of kennel cough but what I don't appreciate is being talked to like I am an uncaring and second-class citizen. The vet was arrogant and disrespectful. Many rescues and pet-owners take advantage of this temporary coupon and I don't believe the average pet owner or even many rescues would know that if their dog is showing any signs of "kc" that they will deny surgery. The staff may want to inform those requesting altering their pets (especially rescues) about their policy when scheduling so that they (and pet-owners) are not dropping their pets off between 7am-7:15am for no reason. read more
