Cannot say enough about Dustin and Isaac! These guys know their stuff and will put you on the fish no matter what the pacific throws at them. Super knowledgeable guys and lots to learn from them as a fisherman myself. If your goal is to catch that trophy bluefin or have some fun at the islands hit them up! Boats are clean/organized and full to the brim with the best tackle in the industry, you won't be disappointed!

    Epic fishing!

If you want to catch fish this is the boat, captain and crew you want to ride with. I've been on multiple trips on this boat with captain Ralph and his team, believe me they do not disappoint. Super professional and very courteous to their customers. They know the So Cal waters better than anyone and they will get you on the fish. Out of all the trips we've been on we've always come back with meat to put on the table. Very impressive in my option as it's not easy to captain and navigate these waters with the success they have. Thank you Ralph and crew for always making our adventures amazing!

    Catch of the Day!

Hats off to Captain Ralph and Bear. First time out and created some lifetime memories with my son! Appreciate you guys and look forward to doing it again... let's go!

We had an excellent time with Ralph and Bear and Big Game Hunters Fishing Charters 365. Ralph and Bear put us in the Tuna. My son landed his first bluefin and he ate the heart! Great memories for my son and friends. Ralph's charter service is fully equipped with tackle and you just need to bring food and drinks. Expert instruction from Ralph and Bear and they rigged all of the tackle and help us land all of our fish. I highly recommend and we will book next year!

I met Captain Ralph at his seminar during the Day at the Docks event. After talking with him and grabbing his business card, I booked a charter and now I've scratched a 309lb bucket list tuna off my list! Fishing Charters 365 is the best. Highly recommended!

    Big Blue Fin

What we would be fishing that day how to rig up. And how fast we need to get a jig in the water after they're spotted. It was extremely helpful to be able to hear every word the captain was saying. I landed a large bonito on the bow because I knew I had to act fast. Hearing every word the Captain says makes during the whole trip made a huge difference. Another thing I noticed that upon boarding the restroom smelled lemony fresh. I've been on clean boats and not so clean boats but never lemon fresh! There was also upbeat music playing as we fished and it definitely made for a fun party-ish environment. Last but not least, Yellowtails on the half day! That alone would have made the trip excellent but the cleanliness, atmosphere and audio system made the trip even more enjoyable. I caught a small size one, but there were others on the boat who caught very nice ones. Bait was plentiful today. Thank you everyone on The City of Long Beach for an excellent trip.

Review for City of LB boat…read more The crew are horrible. They are way more concern about fishing than helping out. Honestly the worse charter fishing boat I have been on as for as being friendly and making me feel welcomed. Including the Captian they are all rude and very disrespectful, almost to the point where it might seem they are prejudice. Their attitude is if you dont like my rules then get off my boat and their rules are I do what I want and your nothing to me. I been to most of the locals charters fishing boat and never felt so awkward being on a fishing trip.

Obon's beginners luck won jackpot for big yellowtail. Deckhands Eric and Bryan (Cook?) provided excellent service, quickly assisting everyone even before being asked, I noted them scouting the desk to see where they could help. We never made it to Catalina Island but had fun fishing the Oil Rigs catching yellowtail, skipjack, bonita and such. Last trip about a week ago bait was very scarce. I guess they found them but they were were huge sardines (smaller ones may have been more effective as we kept retrieving chewed up bait fish) that died fast, guessing no curing time. Obon and I both lost a couple of yellows after lengthy battles. Tip: any weaknesses in your game, will be exposed in monster yellowtail battles, make sure your knots are tight! All in all, it was a great day out on the water and I want to thank the El Patron crew for making it happen.

I have gone onto many, many, many fishing trips in my life however this time was the first time I took my grandsons. The (El Capitan) the boat including the captain and his crew were absolutely rude, not organized, not helpful. we departed at 5am to Catalina Island and came back at 5pm to the Long Beach Port. Nobody on the Boat but one person, caught any fish, the captain set anchor in one spot in the front part of the island and didn't move all day, this isn't what we paid for, they are supposed to accommodate and move around if fish aren't available - they have the proper technology to provide us the experience. Very disappointed, won't be using them again.

The Driveway off of 7th Street is easy to miss, as the sign is small. I've been fishing the Ocean and Freshwater for many years. I started fly fishing about two years ago, but only gone two trips. Well, I thought I was fly fishing just fine and catching fish during my yearly backpacking trips in the Eastern Sierras. A co-worker had taken beginner's casting lessons and had recommended for me to take the classes to improve on my casting. I had visited the facility on the night during a club competition. I saw the fun and camaraderie the fly casters were having. I located the beginners casting class in Long Beach Casting Club's website. The club is the home to many local Master Fly Casting and FFF Certified Fly Casting Instructors. On premises are a casting pond and the club house. Stadium style lights are usually on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings. Class starts with lecture and videos inside the club house, then they are divided into four groups and each group has several instructors to help students with their casting for the evening at the casting pond. The classes run about five weeks, and each week they teach a different cast. Classes start 7pm sharp, so if you are late, you will miss the 15 minutes of lecture and videos. Each week, you will have the same group of instructors who will help you with your casting and any questions you may have. The first night they go over with suggestions on proper equipments, Fly Rod, Fly Reel, Fly Line, Fly Line Backing and Tapered Leader. Class suggest that you have your own equipment, 9ft 5/6wt balance outfit as I brought my lightweight 7.5ft 3wt outfit that I use for my backpacking trips. If you need assistance in assembling the rod, reel, and/or fly line, the instructors will help you, just bring them in at least 30-40 minutes before the class starts. They teach the proper rod grip, Pick up and Lay Down, False Cast, Roll Cast, Shooting Line, Off Shoulder Casts and Line Mending. I thought I knew how to cast a fly line, but I was amazed how much I improved after each class. Anyone can attend these classes, men and women, if you have a desire to learn. I am happy that I had taken the classes at Long Beach Casting Club. I now have more confidence to tackle the Eastern Sierras, Lakes, streams and maybe Bone fish on a fly during my next vacation. The Long Beach Casting club also has rod building, fly tying, on-the-water outings and intermediate fly casting classes. If you are a seasoned caster, but need any help, stop by as previously mentioned, they have instructor or advanced students that can help.
