We went on August 18th. There were maybe 3 keeper fish caught and they barely met the limit. The boat mainly caught yellow tuna. I saw no grouper or snapper. The guide asked if I wanted my picture made with a six inch long fish. They wanted a 20 dollar tip each for 2 hands. They got ten. They mainly were concerned with us staying in the heat so they could sell us water. A complete waste of time. charter a boat ride to sight see you'll have more fun. read more

Back again a year later! We loved this charter last year and booked again this year - unfortunately it was cancelled on our day where we had booked stern seats (womp womp). So...we rescheduled for two days later on the day before we left for a morning charter - this was quite a bit different than last year because the weather has been unpredictable here as of late, meaning that it took the captain an hour or so to try and find a good spot to anchor in rough seas during the first part of the trip. She kept trying and found places where many of us were catching fish. Towards the end, she announced that the trip would be extended to make up for lost time if all passengers would allow, but unfortunately some had to head back to shore (we were very saddened by this, as were were stoked to stay longer and fish more!) The crew were great - Emily, Andy - all very helpful and they fillet your fish so nicely at the end trip for you. A nice way to spend your morning and the bring your fillets to a nice lunch spot (our fave is now White Tarpon) read more

We went out with Captain Ken on a private light tackle fishing charter with our 3 boys, ages 11, 8, and 6. Taking 3 "little" kids out for a 6 hour charter at sunrise is not for the faint of heart, but he was absolutely what we all needed; laid back, knowledgeable, funny, and a blast to be with. My husband learned about how fun it is to catch mackerel, and the kids learned how fun it is to catch all kinds of fish that we don't have in the Great Lakes. Go go go! So we booked this trip while visiting Key West. The weather was great though extremely hot. The Captain put us on some fish and the entire boat was pulling YellowTails up as quick as you could drop your bait. The Mangrove Snappers were also active. To be such a hot day, water 90+degrees, we stayed busy. The crew were phenomenal and very approachable with personalities. The galley was stocked, air conditioned and the squirt guns were out. Had a great outing with Captain Ken. There were four of us - three adults and one 10-year old, part of a 14-person group on vacation from Englewood, FL. We fishermen were assigned the duty to catch enough fish to feed the entire group for dinner. Captain Ken was up to the task. He was captain and crew and chief bottle-washer all in one. He did a super job of putting us on fish, telling us where to fish and the specific tactics to catch them, and at the same time, keeping young Gavin engaged and feeling involved (truth be told, he caught more fish than the rest of us combined). Cutting bait, rigging lines, helping to land fish, and taking pictures were also included - quite a lot on his plate, right? At the end of the day, we had plenty of yellowtail, snapper and grouper to feed our party of 14, and enough to send home with Captain Ken to feed his family. Guides can be expensive. But when you've invested hundreds (if not a few thousand) in a Florida vacation, you can pinch pennies and still be able to tell people you went fishing, or you can pay for a good guide and have an absolutely great time fishing (and catching!) and have the pictures to show for it. Not only did Brett (the worker) say my Real ID was fake barely looking at it, he decided to cause a scene and keep threatening to snap my ID and others on the boat. He provided cheap alcohol and a crappy experience for the price. Don't waste your money to be bothered by someone who clearly doesn't know how to check an ID as well as someone who is no fun and ruins the vibe. $80 per person is ridiculous for sitting on the ground, bad alcohol, and a rude worker. I would rather spend my $80 on buying them a scanner for IDs to prevent them from ruining others times. I know look young but I am legal and you would know that if you had an id scanner read more

The whole crew was fantastic. All were friendly and very personable. The captain did a great job finding locations where we could catch fish. We ended up with 7 keepers and a lot we had to throw back. We had a wonderful day and made a lot of lasting memories. We have followed FishMonster on Facebook for years. When we planned our trip this was my husband's request to charter with. We walked the marina the day before our split charter and met Marlin. A super guy. Bodie and Brandon were on the Reel Deal with us and they were awesome! For 2 people the split charter was the way to go as it was much more affordable than chartering a whole boat. The second trip with them was on the FishMonster Max with Luke, Max and Andy. It was a little crowded but again we had an awesome time. Luke and Max were so accommodating working with my husband rigging up lines per my husband's request to try to hook something big. If we come back to Key West we will definitely be booking with them again. Also, if you are just walking through A&B Marina, you can buy a cup of fish from FishMonster to feed the tarpons. If you are lucky you'll see large bull sharks too! read more

Me and my wife booked a half day bottom fishing trip on 8/30/2024. Took way to long to get out there(eating up time) and once we got out there, we where told we would have to move to shallower waters because it was a little rough.!! What.!! 2 ft. Rollers are not rough . I knew right then we were not going to catch any big fish because deep water produces bigger fish. Thats what exactly happened ,no big fish at all.! 11 inch fish is all we and everyone else caught . There a SHAM.!!!. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.!!.200.00 boat ride,never again.! Awesome trip on the Fishmonster Light!!! Captain Eric was a one man show who expertly managed the boat, his guests, and a very successful 6 hour trip. Eric did all the set up, work, and clean up. The boat is laid out well for this type of trip. The only protection offered I'd the top over the helm. Eric had plenty of bottled water on ice. We both drifted and anchored. We had a fantastic time and landed a large cobia, a mahi, and a mutton snapper. We definitely recommend this trip for a more personal experience. read more

Had the time of my life today out with Captain Eric, Nick, and Pelican! This company, from the first phone call with Barbie, had been nothing but helpful and willingness to answer any and all questions. Myself and 2 other anglers went out today and did a 3/4 day deep sea trip. The weather was a perfect 85 degrees and sunny. We started out at 7am and headed out 18 miles off shore to approximately 500-800 feet of water. (May have been even deeper) Captain Eric knew where to go and how to follow the birds to find the fish that's for sure. He got his binos out and took us right to them. Almost right off the rip we brought in 8 Mahi and another 2 small fish that we had to throw back in due to being out of season. Unfortunately that is all we caught but I am OK with that. Of course we wanted to catch a monster fish that would take an hour to reel in but that didn't happen, maybe next time around! Once we got back to the dock, Pelican filleted all of our fish, which he did very well. This guy filleted them so good that you could see through the carcasses, not like the guy that was filleting next to him where he left a ton of meat of the bones and threw it to the fish at the dock. We took what we could eat and gave the rest back to them. A&B Marina restaurant is going to cook up the fish anyway that we choose for $17 a person which includes sides. Overall my experience with Fishmonster Charters was amazing and more than what I expected. If you are looking for a well knowledgeable company that will do everything in their power to get you fish, look no further than here. Thank you Eric, Nick, Pel, and Barbie for everything. What a GREAT fishing charter! I have never fished in the ocean before this trip. The staff took their time to make sure we were all set up, gave us suggestions, changed locations if fish weeny biting, and made sure all guests were feeling OK since it was a little rocky on the water. I would suggest to bring your own breakfast or eat ahead of time if you are not into eating snacks for breakfast . They had a nice selection of snacks, drinks, etc. though for later in the day. The crew also will fillet your fish after the trip and the White Tarpon (right on the dock) will cook it up for you. We were leaving the next day so asked if they could donate the fish somewhere and they said they do that (great to know :). read more

We did two excursions, both with "Chase". The first trip (snorkeling) our daughter got a little sea sick and he picked up on it and took us to an area that was a lot calmer. Found two playful dolphins and allowed us time to interact and take videos. The second trip was a light tackle trip for four hours. He took us to a spot and right from the jump were catching nice sized fish for first timers. Great experience from the owners, the booking agent and Chase the Captain!!! If your a fisherman this is not the charter for you. Disclaimer: we didn't catch fish but that's not the reason for a bad review. I fish a ton and get it, some days you don't catch fish. It was really just the attitude and complete lack of effort, i.e. we went back on the troll and the mate drops back the same washed out torn up ballyhoo we trolled with for 4 hours, fished a shallow reef and they only set up 2 rods for 5 guys. Every charter I've ever been on where we didn't catch fish the captain and mate hustled hard to get one fish in the boat for the charter, or at least showed they were trying and cared. This one, they were totally not concerned about the fact we hadn't caught a fish. It was like they set the spread, trolled until the time was up, and headed in. Also the mate had no interest in having a conversation, every question about the fishery and approach was met with one word answers. Just felt like they mailed it in for the whole charter. read more
