Table set up

Pooh and I were craving sushi and we were looking for an "all you can eat" and BYOB, and found this place. The sushi was great: it was fresh, very tasty and well prepared. The menu, on the other hand, was confusing. The wording on some dishes was misleading; for example, "chicken wings" one would think more than one wing but no there was just one so what does the other person eat? Secondly, tempura shrimp, again one on the plate. Also they forgot one of our orders The service was fast; we never waited more then 2 minutes for our food. We would definitely go back

If you are looking for nice sushi, fast serving and great service, you will definitely get the first two at Fisshu. Typically, when I go to a Sushi restaurant, I do not expect excellent service, so that I do not get disappointed. However, when the restaurant is on Ste-Catherine, right in the centre of the buzz, then I expect that higher standard. Service, related to attentiveness and greeting, unfortunately, is not the greatest, but not unpleasant. This is a buffet restaurant that I made a reservation for three, on a Saturday evening at 6pm. Inside is relatively classy, moderate noise level where you can have a descent conversation. It is a BYOB- and I did bring my own bottle of wine. Who said you cannot have red wine with sushi? We were immediately provided with a tablet to place our orders and 2 clean empty glass of wine, as we sat down. Food serving was lightning fast. There is sushi and then there is sushi. I am delightfully impressed with the quality and freshness of all the dishes we ordered, with no exceptions. Food presentation was excellent. Sushi torched right at our table. We served our own wine from start to finish. While I do not keep tab of what I ordered, I have a very good memory of what was on my order list and can reasonably confirm that there were not any "voluntary" back order cancellations. The portion size is more than descent and one has to read properly to see the "unit of measure", some being served as 1-piece, others as 6-pieces. If you are inclined to order more beef, pork, chicken menu, you might find the menu not to support that many selections, however, for fish and seafood dishes, there is enough choice that I was satisfied with. There was no eye judgement whether we ordered too much or too little. Will I be back? Most certainly, I will.

I feel the need to write a review because my boyfriend and I had a really good experience despite the poor reviews here and on other sites. All-you-can-eat sushi is something we do a lot; We've eaten amazing AYCE in many different cities around North America so we have a lot to compare Fisshu to. We really enjoyed the sushi and service at Fisshu. The fish was fresh and tasty, and you don't have to worry that the rolls will come with mostly rice. We didn't try any of the non-sushi dishes, but had just about every sushi roll on the menu. We couldn't help stuffing our faces with such delicious food! The sushi comes in small quantities (usually 1 or 4) so it's easy to get exactly the right amount and not over-order. If you're still hungry, order more: there's no limit to how many rounds you order! My favorite rolls they have are the Vegas Roll and the Natsumi Roll. My only complaint about Fisshu is that they have a limited Maki Roll menu. What they do have though, is great. The service was fast! We were given a tablet at our table to order from at any time. We would throw a bunch of items into the "cart" and once we clicked "order" the food came out just shortly after. Literally as soon as we finished a dish, someone would swoop in and grab it off the table so we had space for our next dishes. I couldn't believe how efficient they were even though the restaurant was busy on a Saturday afternoon. In summary Pros: yummy food, fresh fish, no limits, quick service Con: small maki roll selection

There are a lot of restaurants in Montreal like Fisshu and for me this is a fine iteration. Extra star because it is BYO so the price is relatively lower because we'd probably be ordering Sake otherwise. They also give you a bucket for your wine if you being white which is nice. The sushi is not out of this world, but it's fresh, tasty and they don't overstuff it with rice. We order a lot of sashimi and maki normally. Tempura is solid and there's a beef teriyaki skewer dish that's quite good. Mostly I come to a place like this because my hunger for sushi is far greater than my willingness to pay for the quantity I want and it hits the spot every time. Weekend nights it gets pretty busy. There are always tons of large groups. We normally go last minute so we never have a reservation but a group of two people is easier to squeeze in. It's a pretty loud restaurant because of the aforementioned large groups, but not so loud you're shouting the whole time (drunk people at the larger tables might be.) Despite being crowded the food never takes long though and the servers are always nice.

They've hiked up the price to 28.99$ for the dinner menu. I did eat to my hearts content but 29$ is too much for a sushi buffet. The service was really fast. I was impressed because they kept bringing out plate after plate in so little time. It's like they already had what we wanted prepared. They also were really swift at clearing the table once you were done with it so you never had any clutter of plates. It's a nice restaurant. I like the decor and they have my favourite painting on the wall as you enter (The Great Wave off Kanagawa) The sushi itself was really good. I thought their flavours were on point, their avocado fresh, and their salmon was tasty. Their Philadelphia rolls (cream cheese, cucumber, smoked salmon) had lots of cheese which is rare at AYCE sushi bars. I wish it was avocado instead of cucumber but they tasted great either way. They were my favourite of the night. My boyfriend really liked the Fisshu rolls. He said they were flavourful. I ordered their fried tofu and a vegetarian pizza as well and I thought they were really great. A bit too much spicy mayo on the pizza but you can scrape that off. I usually don't order the sushi pizzas but this one I made an exception because it comes packed with avocado! The fried tofu is just so delightfully fluffy and it tastes slightly of soy sauce which I like because it wasn't overwhelming. It was just enough to give it a kick. Their chicken wings are nice and sweet. I only got one but if I had more stomach capacity I definitely would've ordered more. They were crispy and warm. For some reason they charge you if you bring in wine/beer which is not ideal but I guess they have to. I don't drink alcohol but my boyfriend brought one beer. It's cool that you get to bring in your own alcohol but since you have to pay its kinda bleh. I loved the food but given the price you can find other sushi buffets that give the same satisfaction.

FIRST OF ALL if it's your first time, under order (order less than you think you'll need/want) for your first round, because you will be required to pay for any pieces you don't eat! Second of all, I didn't even mind the extra 8$ CDN we had to pay for the maki pieces we didn't eat, because everything was so delicious. This is a BYOB place so stop and get a cold bottle of pinot grigio to complement your sushi. The service was pretty good and the sushi (and tempura and soup and salad) were awesome!

Fisshu, the sushi all you can eat that replaced K2 bistro after it closed down. Fisshu offers a great variety of sashimis, sushis, grilled meats, tempuras and even wok. However, some of their grilled items tastes Frozen like they just had a duet with Elsa. The grilled short ribs were more greese than the fat I gained eating it. The ambiance felt way too romantic with the dim light and candle on the table cuz you know how important it is to take those perfect pictures for instagram. Fried items are more overcooked than a well done steak. The only acceptable item was the roll similar to K2 roll but still more forgetable than your ex. Waitress was nice and helpfull. I missed k2 bistro.

The place inside is very nice! The food is good and fast. The service you feel like they are rushing, but its kind of the place vibes. El lugar por dentro es muy lindo! La comida estuvo bien y rápida. El servicio te hace sentir que te apuran, pero es parte de la vibra del lugar.

That is the "tartare" yes the cracker with 1.1 gram of shrimp. The rest of the plate dont even go there fam. SAD

Look this is lacking quality so so much please dont serve food like this is atrocious

Whaaaaa?!!! Sushi on Pringles. I'm officially sold on this place.

Come here hungry, leave full Nice little place with an all you can eat special for about 27 CAD. Was this the best sushi that I have consumed? No, but it was pretty close. The entire menu in this place is part of the all you can eat special, not just rolls and sushi. The restaurant was not too crowded, for a Saturday night, my friend and I arrived 1-1.5 hours before closing and there were a few tables available. The service was pretty efficient and the waiters were pretty nice. Note, order only what you can eat because they will charge you for any food left over, which I think is a fair rule. I will admit that I was a little drunk while I was there, so I can not really remember what did I like the best. However, I did like the saxophonist (with a digital band) playing jazz. When I come back to Montreal, I will revisit but I need to bring someone with me. I do not want to be THAT guy eating all you can eat sushi alone ;)

sashimi galore

Fairly decent lunchtime AYCE sushi place. One of the highlights is the fact that they serve sashimi during lunchtime, which earns them the extra star. Otherwise, everything else is very average, from their sushi to their side dishes. Like any AYCE sushi places, this place is likely ran by Cantonese people, which explains the availability of plates such as General Tao Chicken. This place does not particularly stand out from other places, except the fact that they serve sashimi during lunchtime. Then again, beware to not abuse from it to the point that they taste like paste in your mouth. Other things that I think are worth mentioning: clean washroom, nice decor, and average service (from what you would expect from an AYCE place: the occasionally missed order because you ordered too much).

Nancy H.

One of the only ayce sushi places in montreal that still does sashimi for lunch, so it's definitely going to be a repeat for me. They're located in a nice location and open for both lunch and dinner. We went for lunchtime and the place was fairly empty on a weekday. Service was good, though it was a bit annoying to use the little paper slips for ordering (I've gotten used to the handy electronic tablets). The sashimi was good quality for ayce and sliced decently thick without being cumbersome. The rolls, well, some were good but some I would not order again. There was a rather odd fancy roll that was deep fried and had wonton crisps(?) on it which I felt didn't add much and it was also not very crisp. The salmon rose was pretty sad and i wouldn't recommend the spicy gunkan sushis either as they add way too much mayo. I really do love the cold mashed potato salad though, and most of the dishes we ordered were pretty good. My friend was rather disappointed that they didn't have french fries though (she loves her fries). But overall I had a very good meal here and it's hard to beat unlimited sashimi for 25 and tax...I hope they keep this feature on the menu as that's really what makes them stand out from the competition.

1X salmon rose (yes, one slice of salmon makes a rose!) and 1x salmon nigiri

We showed up at 5:30 without a reservation and I wasn't sure we'd be able to snag a table. And honestly, if we had gotten there 15 minutes later, we probably would have had a long wait. So far, so good. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar and there was a vibration coming through the floor that was loud and a bit unpleasant. The prices were a little high which was a little off putting. But, we saw a couple of options - like a sushi boat - on their website ... but it turns out that is only for takeout, which is just weird. Service was slow and the wait staff disappeared at times. Normally, these things would have me deducting stars. But can I just say that the food was so darn good that I can overlook all of it. It was absolutely outstanding. Vegan sushi rich with umami. I really appreciate the ease of booking and how I didn't have to think about what people were going to order. One hiccup was that I had indicated ahead of time that one of the guests had a seafood allergy, which I understand can be difficult for Japanese restaurant. I had expected them to tailor the $70 menu to her, however, they let us know that it was gonna be difficult and instead asked her to pick from the à la carte menu. She had no problem with this, but I felt bad and didn't want her to think that I had an indicated ahead of time of her dietary restriction. Overall, the meal was good. It was a little bit slow to start coming out. I think our total dining time was over two hours which was fine because we were celebrating something but for the first 30 minutes I feel like no food came out. A little bit on the salty side, but I enjoyed every dish. For the price point I think it was perfect. I would recommend this for a group dinner again. The high top tables weren't the most comfortable for such a large group as we were essentially split in two, but for a group of 6-8 it would be perfect!

I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard.
