We found Park Restaurant on the Netflix show: Feed Phil (filmed in 2019). We focused on ordering their classic sushi with an innovative/interesting preparation that chef Park created: Wow! We ordered a 12 Nigiri chef's choice platter and an 8 roll chef's choice Maki rolls. The sushi had incredible depth, but still nuanced, of flavor created by the chef Antonio Park's additions to the classic sushi. The fish was fresh. The presentation was perfect. Wow wow wow. This place is a must try! Get a reservation as it's quite a small quaint place. We sat at the sushi bar which was so fun. Our server was great and everything we had was fabulous. Drinks were perfectly made and the food was impeccable. Highly recommend anything wagyu - even the filet mignon entree tasted like wagyu it was so soft! Serious melt in your mouth meat. My partner and I weren't extremely hungry, so we only went for a dish of japchae, a dish of chicken teriyaki don, and a side of edamame. To start, the japchae was extremely lacking in flavor and typically has strips of eggs mixed in, but this one did not. The redeeming factor of this dish was that there were many vegetables included. The variety and amount of vegetables included were top-notch. And lastly, japchae isn't normally very wet or dry (it's like a good medium), but this was VERY wet, which was a bit weird. The chicken teriyaki don came with wild grain rice (not white rice). The chicken, itself, seemed to have minimal teriyaki flavoring and sauce. It could have used some more marinating and/or sauce drizzled on top. The one awesome thing about this dish was that it was plated beautifully. The side of edamame was your standard steamed/boiled edamame with a sprinkle of salt. It's a normal and "boring" dish, but very comforting and delicious, nonetheless. read more

My husband and I came here for our one year wedding anniversary and Park did NOT disappoint. Everything was so fresh and delicious and truly unforgettable. If you are a sushi fan, you will appreciate this place. And I'm not talking California/spicy tuna rolls. This is a real authentic sashimi/nigiri experience. Down to the homemade soy sauce and fresh oysters. I don't usually post reviews but this place was the best. A well-oiled machine, everyone working cohesive has a team to deliver one of the best culinary adventures I've had thus far, in Montreal. My first bite of fatty tuna took me back to some of my first sashimi experiences in Busan, South Korea and Tokyo. Love what they've done with the trio of sauces - chimichurri , carrot-onion, and ponzu. Some of my favorites included the hamachi, otoro, and salmon which I typically do not like but pairing it with the carrot-onion sauce was decadent. The uni was creamy, briny, and melted in my mouth. We heard amazing things about this place and Phil R also ate here so decided to eat here. We had lunch here and they have a couple of a la cart options as well as omakase option. Since we wanted to focus on the sushi options we decided to go for nigiri/sashimi dishes as recommended by the manager. We ordered ap bluefin tataki, snow crab maki as well as Asian salad on the side. Bluefin tataki came out first. The slightly tangy creamy sauce complimented the tuna really well with gochujang oil adding a tint of spiciness. It was perfect appetizer for what is to come. Asian salad was freshing. Mixture of thin julienened papaya, cucumber, and carrots and pear in a slightly sweet dressing served with nut mix. It was really good. Next up was thr sashimi moriwase 18 pieces of sashimi (salmon, sea brim, toro, bluefin tuna etc) served with ponzu, ginger carrot, and chimichuri sauces to dip the sashimi. Those 18 pieces were gone in a sec! Super fresh sashimi with 3 dipping sauces were very diff from normal sashimi we have at Japanese places. The cuts were so fresh. 12 pieces of nigiri plus 2 toro nigiri was superb. Everything was perfectly seasoned that we didnt even need soy sauce. Torched salmon and toro were my fav but other nigiris were equally amazing. Sushi rice was so well seasoned too. Last thing we ordered was the blue crab maki. This didnt blow me away only bc it was a bit too wet and bit too saucy or maybe bc we were already full by the time we started eating. Service is amazing. Excellent, inventive food, very good service - points deducted for the restroom situation ("borderline filthy" is a kind way of describing it). We decided on the 7-course tasting menu; it's a terrific experience and a great value. The variety and innovation of the courses was a delight. The one course that was a bit of a letdown was the maki - the roll was too tight (the rice was compressed to the point of fusing, which affects the texture in a negative way), and the flavors were kind of dull. Park (rightfully!) serves the sushi/sashimi without soy sauce on the side - everything comes to the table pre-seasoned, which I love. The maki was the one item that I considered asking for a side of soy sauce for. The nigiri course, by contrast, was a revelation. Such well-prepared sushi, perfectly seasoned to highlight the freshness of the fish and the tenderness of the rice. I was looking forward trying this place, and what a better occasion for my partner's birthday. When making the reservation it asked me if it was for an special occasion and I wrote it was for a birthday. When we arrived it took a bit of time to get welcomed but I understand it gets busy. When I said I had the reservation the hostess turned and looked around and said is this table okay? Not that I was expecting much but if this place is that popular I would've expected at least a little reserved note on the table or something it was more like a casual place and he was checking what tables were empty to give me. Why did I even put down 35$ per person to reserve a place where It clearly seems like an average restaurant that you can just walk-in. We got seated down like sardines in the middle of two tables were we could just hear their whole conversation of both tables, almost even share the food at this point. Service was quick and food was good but nothing extraordinary. Now, I'm not expecting a cake or a show or even a free dessert when I mention in my reservation that I'm celebrating someone's birthday. However the fact that it wasn't even awknoledge that it was someone's birthday at all really disappointed me, not even a hey happy birthday...honestly average for what they charge and for the hype of this place. The Comedy of Errors: A Dining Disaster at Park Sushi, Montreal Today, I had the distinct displeasure of experiencing what can only be described as the culinary equivalent of a tragicomedy. It was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience in my 60 years on this planet. If this review prevents even one person from enduring the subpar food and service we received today at Park Sushi, then I consider my job done. Like many of you, I was excited to dine here. I'd read the glowing reviews, seen the TV features, and anticipated a memorable meal. We walked into a nearly empty dining room, yet despite having made a reservation over a month in advance, the gentleman at the door tried to seat us at a table immediately next to the door and across from the host stand. Peering into the vast emptiness of the restaurant, I politely asked if we could be seated somewhere else, anywhere. The gentleman consulted his computer screen and, after what felt like an eternity, allowed us to move. Throughout our agonizing stay, not one of the other window-facing booths were occupied. I can only assume that the other would-be diners had the foresight to cancel their reservations. Our server, a pleasant but clearly untrained young woman, had to consult her notepad to remember the one special dish the chef had prepared: carrot soup with cumin. She described it as "a carrot soup with a spice." Thank you, Captain Obvious. We inquired about the sakes and were met with a vacant stare and a description as detailed as "good." It seemed she was more familiar with the bloated prices on the sake list than the actual sakes themselves. The menu at Park Sushi is reminiscent of that scene in the 1992 film, My Cousin Vinny, when Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei go to the local restaurant and try to order a meal. The whole menu only has 3 things written on it: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu at Park is no different. Gone were the beloved staples of finer Japanese dining. Instead, we were offered a bare-bones selection of sashimi, maki, and a few other non-descript choices. When I asked our waitress for specifics about the ingredients, I was met with a blank stare. Apparently, I'm the only person in the world who gets excited about knowing what's in their food. At this point, I seriously considered walking out and cutting my losses. It would have saved me a $300 lesson. Our kimchee gyoza were passable - a bit too much dough for the minuscule filling, but edible. Then came the vegetable tempura, a nightmare in batter. The oyster mushroom was so tough that neither human teeth nor the cutlery provided could cut through it. The broccoli pieces were too large to fit into anyone's mouth, and the batter was raw inside. Delightful. Our busboy seemed to be in a perpetual state of indecision, staring at our empty mocktail glass and gyoza plate for ten minutes before mustering the courage to clear them. Finally, our server and the gentleman who seated us arrived with our Park Maki and sashimi. The gentleman managed to spill half the sauce on the floor but still served it to us. Perhaps he was trying to save us from the chef's habit of drowning the fish in sauce. The maki was flavorless and mediocre at best, and the sashimi's taste was obliterated by the excessive sauce. Despite my better judgment, I ordered the octopus. Big mistake. For $55, we were served the tiny shriveled ends of an octopus tentacle, drowned in an overpowering gochujang sauce, accompanied by a sea of romesco sauce, three tiny slices of leeks, and a few scattered potatoes. It was a masterclass in how not to cook. By this point, I wanted to run out the door - perhaps this is why the host initially sat us so close to it. But the comedy of dysfunction continued. I reminded our server that we no longer wanted the miso soup we had ordered an hour ago, which she had forgotten. The busboy, in his final act of clumsiness, managed to drop utensils all over our banquette and onto my wife's purse. I cannot stress enough how thoroughly this restaurant missed the mark on every conceivable level. I'm sure it was good at one time, but those days are long gone. It felt like they were purposefully trying to fleece us by having untrained staff serve inedible food at exorbitant prices. Save your money. Go to a grocery store or even a gas station and buy the sushi there - it will be better, I assure you. read more

I had the sushi platter and it was just fantastic! So many fresh and raw sashimis and we also got the omakase to split. So delicious! Also the chocolate dessert was the best ever - so glad I tried it. Like legit I have been dreaming about that dessert since and it is made by their bakery team fresh. I was not surprised to see such a high quality of fish and such beautiful presentation coming from a restaurant with an amazing reputation. The food is elevated and the price definitely matches the quality of the food. Although it was on the more expensive side, we thought that it was worth trying the testing menu which gave us a chance to try a bit of everything. we were not disappointed. I would say that the prices are high, no doubt about that but like I said, the fish is high quality. You can tell by the colour and smell. I am embarrassed that didn't write down names, but we were are Park from 6pm - 8pm on 8/2/23. Our server was a delightful young woman who was fluent in at least French and English. We opted for the Premium sushi platter, which did not disappoint. I wish I could make all the fish, but I know it had 4 types of tuna, flying fish, scallop, salmon, caviar, and 6 oysters. I give it 4 stars because while very fresh and delicious, it's very expensive. It's a generous portion of sushi for 2. I enjoyed all sashimi except the white fish with the silver skin (felt like a 'cheaper' cut). I also enjoyed the nigiris. However, the makis were underwhelming. Antonio Park is a celebrity and has some mad Instagram game. This is one of his many many MANY establishments here in Montreal (I've also been to Kampai). I really like this place and have been here for both in person dining (brunch) and take out (due to Covid). Because of COVID, he's doing take out and delivery (depending on where you live for delivery). In person dining: excellent service. They are super friendly! If you're reserving, they call you in advance to confirm and they are generally super hospitable. Take out: we did take out during New Year's Eve for their special event so it was a bit busy but they still got our order to us efficiently (and everything was fresh and tasty!) The restaurant itself is beautiful and very airy. It would be nice to go back in the restaurant in person soon. The fish and seafood are always fresh and feel great to eat. I've seen some of the videos he's on and it's impressive how he tries to use every part of the fish. It's great in terms of sustainability. Their holiday/ New Year's Eve meal was also an amazing deal as it was essentially the Plateau pour 2 with additional appetizers, a delightful pasta dish and dessert. For my visits to Canada there has been a curse where a day before I return to the states the restaurant I ate at are terrible. After reading the reviews about Park I was hoping for this curse to break and to start a new streak where the restaurant I eat the day before returning to the states are great. Unfortunately Park continues the terrible streak... My party was seated quickly but our waitress was over energetic and constantly pestered us despite telling her "we will call you when we are ready to order." We ordered the gyoza (extremely salty), Lunch Maki (ok), random sashimi (the fish is fresh but their distributer sucks) and japchae with beef (terrible...salty, oily, a disgrace). This Westmount Asian Fusion is the perfect hybrid of a neighborhood place and a foodie's delight. I made a reservation weeks in advance for 2 at the bar. When I arrived I was disappointed because we were seated at the high countertop which housed the liquor and espresso machine rather than the sushi bar. Apparently it is better to call and specify to make sure. This is especially important because we sat on the corner of the counter and the servers were consistently bumping into us as they served and scurried around. Not exactly ideal. But that was the only miss... the service is attentive and each course is described with such enthusiasm and detail that it's impossible not to acknowledge the passion with which the servers do their job. Really wonderful. The ambience is cool... they seem to love 80s American music which was piped in through the audio system. The beauty of doing the prix fixe tasting is that each person can order a different number of courses. So I ordered the 5 course and my husband had the 7 course option. They coordinate them in perfect sync and I got to taste my husbands other dishes. Gabriel was a terrific server. The kitchen dishes were fantastic and the sashimi, nigiri and rolls were art on a plate. Of course they tasted just as good as they looked. We are sushi snobs and have been to many top notch sushi places around the world. This one certainly measures up. Even the dessert was super creative and a lovely way to close the meal. The place looked romantic and expensive. However, there's no room for your parkas since they crowd the space with tables. It's hard to get around, especially for waiters. We got lucky and got the last 2 seats along the bar for a Saturday night at 5:35 pm. We were told ahead that we could stay only til 7 pm. The open kitchen was near us to see and observe the chef and all the cooks in the kitchen. I saw my dish ready to go too!! The washroom was large and clean. The service was wonderful and the waiter knew what he was talking about. Appetizer - butternut squash soup (Jap style). I loved every spoon of it. Would have loved it hotter, in temperature. Park bowl - is their version of a Korean bibimbap for $19. The sauce was not overpowering which was great. The Muti-grain rice is healthy which I like. And all the veggies that I got was wonderful. The tofu was hot and soft. Downside, I didn't know that food modification cost $5!!!!! I asked for a well done egg!! And usually a bibimbap does not come with a hard boiled egg. I've had it pan-fried. So that was a disappointment that cost me $5. I know it's not much, but at least tell me. (Waiter already told me that the tofu might cost me an extra $5.) At least the food was hot from beginning to end. My partner had a sushi roll. Presentation is spectacular. Taste wise- he said he had it better, especially in Richmond Hill Ontario. I've ordered 3 dishes for delivery: *Nigiri set (12 Pcs) *Sashimi set (18 Pcs) *Park Maki (8 Pcs) The delivery time estimation was on the dot (80 minutes vs estimated 90 minutes) and the delivery guy called me moments before arriving, just as was indicated during the online order placement. (The restaurant does its own deliveries). The meal itself was a different story... The Nigiri looked and tasted like they have been sitting prepared for a while, and were garnished just moments before being packed away and sent out. The Sashimi pieces were thin, and half of them felt like they were recently defrosted and still soaked with water. The best part of the whole meal ended up being the Park Maki... which I used to cover up the flavour and the experience of the Sashimi and the Nigiri. I'm sorry, but the price that is being charged for the fish and the provided quality is simply unacceptable. Was hoping to make this restaurant one of my frequent sushi locations, but after this experience, that is something that is definitely not happening. This place is controversial, regulars love it and some new customers hate it. I visit Park every few months and my suggestion is to keep an open mind and do NOT compare it to your favorite sushi place , other Omakase, Sushi in New York, Hong Kong, or Tokyo . This is not a 10 seat restaurant where the sushi master places each nigiri on your plate and you can exchange banter with the Itamae . It is sushi at Restaurant Park in Montreal which is unique. It is a medium-sized fine dining restaurant that serves fusion sushi based on Antonio Park's life experience (He is Korean but grew up in Argentina, Brazil Paraguay and lived in Vancouver when he first arrived to Canada. Antonio worked in Tokyo, Osaka, New York, and Toronto. This may explain his fusion influence on his food (they add Montreal steak spice sometimes which is not my favorite ) I ordered the omakase and got the upgrade. It was expensive but worth it. Look at the online take-out menu during business hours in advance so you know how to budget. It can take 2-3.5 hours especially when it is busy so be patient. This is not fast food. They also do delivery, either way make sure to select from the right menu, lunch or supper and order at the right time to make sure they'll be available! The menu is more limited than usual but still plenty to chose from. We have the seaweed salad to start. It's unlike one I had before as it was mixed with lettuce and came with a sesame type of sauce, different but very good and fresh. Portion was large and enough of both lettuce and salad to fit in each bite. We then ordered the selection of nigiri, maki and sashimi (22 pieces) and the maki snow crab (8 pieces). They were all delicious and you can tell it is made with great quality fish but I would have to say that the makis were my favourite! They each had a little kick to them and had so much flavour. The snow crab had some lemon zest in them which really made such a different and brought them to a whole other level! Ratio of fish to rice was perfect, I mean you are paying for it so I would hope so... We also had the toro sashimi, from what we understood this is supposed to be a very "elite" cut of the fish which is more fatty. You can tell just by looking at the marbling on the fish it's going to be good. Soak it a little extra long in the soya sauce really helps bring out its flavours. So this review is based on take out. Chef Park is offering takeout and delivery during the "suggested" confinement due to covid-19. I've eaten here once a few years back for my birthday and remember loving this place a lot! So... I decided to drive an hour to pickup my lunch and drive an hour back to eat it. Ok. I did eat most the nigiri before driving back but that's just because it looked so good and because after the first one, I just had to have three more. We came here to try because of the good reviews but after getting all the terrible food here, we think the restaurant just paid for the reviews. We started with the worst gyoza ever!!!! The chef must have lost the ability to taste after getting Covid? The gyoza weirdly came with lots of unnecessary sauce and the sauce was extremely sour thanks to the vinegar. Next, the maki was technically kimbap and nigiri which were fine. And then the Japchae with beef was horrible!!! Please taste before serving, chef !!! The beef was crazily salty . Even the Japchae was salty too but less than the beef. Japchae is my fav and I've tried it at multiple restaurants in San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and this one tasted the worst and much smaller but higher price! Amazing. Hands down the best sushi I have tasted yet. No lie. Went there for dinner on a Friday evening in May and was not disappointed. Can't you tell by now I was very satisfied? Let me tell you more. After hyping it for many months now, I finally got to taste it. At first, I was scared that all the hype that I have built over the months will end up disappointing me. I was not let down. OK, time to stop talking about my hype and delve into the actual food and experience. Located in Westmount, this restaurant serves, you guessed it, sushi, among other things of course. The decor was nice and cozy. The staff was also welcoming and knowledgeable about their menu. As for the menu, they offer different plates and dishes, which also includes tasting menus - one more "table d'hote" style and another one which is a sushi tasting menu. We went for the latter. The tasting platter comes with about 25 pieces per person, which is sufficient to be full but not sick from the amount. It includes different pieces like various kinds of sashimi, nigiri and maki. The sashimi were really good, with great texture for every kind of fish. The nigiris were also great, but what was really really good were the makis. They were so tasty, with great mix of flavors in your mouth. To be noted, the sashimis were also accompanied by different sauces, which were all good. Overall, this was a great experience, albeit expensive. For a guy who is used to crappy AYCE sushi, I am not sure if I can get back after tasting such high standard food. Recommended 100%! read more

I love it. I've heard about this place for a while now. Always wanted to try it but the location is never convenient for me. Finally I did and I love it. The restaurant decor is cute and cozy; Semi formal (I felt a bit underdress with my casual clothes). We came here right after they open for dinner. Luckily we did cause 30 mins after, it was almost full. Service: Top-notch. Waiters are very nice and professional. Always filling our water. They gave us an extra spoon because we ordered a bimbinbap to share and my sister was just eating the rice with the spoon. He felt bad that I have to scoop the rice the bowl to my plate. Then the waiter provided us with different plates and said they are for us to avoid mixing the bimbinbap flavor and ruin the sushi flavor. So cute! Food: We ordered the sashimi bowl, 6 pieces nigiri and a bimbinbap for two people. I think it's enough as we weren't as hungry. The some sashimi were so good! Few were meh but it's okay. They are Instagram worth!! But I think maybe they should use something between the fish and ice cause each time I pick up a slice of fish, there's some ice stuck to it. The nigiri is good but I think we need 12 pieces for 2 people so we can each try all the nigiri. The biimbinbap was okay, nothing wow. I would come back again next time!!! read more
