I will start by saying its worth trying. Good group workout, not a what you would think of a boot camp, it's better. I like the trainer Chris and his assistance. He remembers names and everything about his members. He also keeps things positive which makes it less of a boot camp. No shaming from him or the trainers. Just a few members in the morning are annoying but easily ignored and not enough to actually even bring it up. Afternoons are cramped but It doesn't effect my workout. The kids dance/cheer classes are fun to watch anyways. I mostly go mornings where there's space, but it appears those classes are filling up. I like the bouncy floors for my bad knees, back, and feet. I was on bed rest during my pregnancy and gained a lot of weight. I've actually lost weight and my strength has improved. Chris also can help with nutrition if you ask which is what really helped with me losing weight. I started in January and was doing fine. I started to get help with my nutrition a few weeks ago from Chris and lost 6 pounds in about two weeks and still losing. The equipment is good. You don't need to be too coordinated to do the workouts. Its sort of a crossfit light/ calisthenics like workout. They do help with technique but they can only do so much with a class format. So having an idea on how to move your body with weights is helpful. You only get what you put in since there isn't someone yelling at you. You need to motivate yourself not to be a slacker. Good thing is majority of people positively motivate with the encouragement of the trainers. You do get a few annoying people who can't differentiate between positive or negative motivation and don't leaving the training to the trainers. Chris though is very tactful in handling those people. You have the few people in the circle jerk peanut gallery that's avoidable, it's entertaining to watch those people to say the least. I closed my gym membership to go full time here after my groupon expired. It's a steep price but I prefer group workouts and they are good people. Paying that price also forces me to go and i do get a better overall workout then on my own. I think it's worth trying out. read more

I had an amazing experience with FFL. I attended FFL for about 7 months, losing a total of 36 pounds. It's been over a year later and I've kept 32 pounds of that weight off. When I first started attending the work our classes, I did not have a solid diet or exercise routine. And during my time with this organization, I learned exercise routines I can do on my mat at home everyday. And I learned an effective diet to follow. They gave me all of the tools I need for a more healthy lifestyle, and for that I am grateful. Also, James is an awesome person and a wonderful trainer. I bought a bunch of Groupon deals and guess what, Fit for Life Solutions was my favorite place amongst 4 other places I had tried out. Chris is great! He is passionate about helping you lose weight and will keep an eye out for you to ensure you are doing each exercise correctly. After my Groupon ended, I signed up to be a member by prepaying for 3 months and have a goal of losing 20 lbs before my next birthday in July. In 6 weeks that I have been there, people have noticed I have lost a lot of inches, my size 10 jeans is now baggy, I have lost 2% body fat, and I am well on my way to become a healthy self again! The only thing I dont like about Fit for Life Solutions is that they do not have classes 7 days a week. I wish Roy would consider adding Fri/Saturday to the schedule, because I actually miss the classes during those days! read more

Chris is an awesome instructor! My husband and I just finished week four and we both love our new fitness routine. We've been runners for the past three years but were looking for something to help build strength. About the facility: The gym is shared with dance and cheer squads but they are not there for morning classes. I read a review about competing for space, those must have been evening classes. The floors are squishy which is good for me since I am a klutz and have fallen a few times (haven't seen anyone else fall though...). There are no machines, just wide open space and free weights. One wall is like a garage door and is always open for fresh air. It was a little tricky to find the first day since its in a non descriptive industrial park with no signs. About the format: There are four morning classes 515, 6, 7, and 8. There are evening classes as well. We attend the 6 am and its a great group. Class includes a 10 min warmup (three laps around the gym, jumping jacks, high knees, butt kickers, stretching and some sort of upper body exercise) then Chris demonstrates the 7-8 stations of the day. Sometimes the focus is on a particular muscle group (leg day!), and sometimes it's a whole body work out. Each station is one minute and we do the circuit three times. Stations use free weights, kettle bells, smash balls, and your own body weight. Usually he throws in cardio bursts between circuits and during the last circuit will lead the entire class in an explosive exercise between stations. About the instructor: Chris learns all of our names and makes a point to interact with everyone. I'm usually uncomfortable in group workout sessions, but he makes everyone feel like they belong. Knows how to push us. This class is tough, but designed so any fitness level can participate. I have gotten much stronger since starting and look forward to continued progress. Chris always says "you gotta hustle for the muscle" and you'll do just that here! Always work up a sweat, always feel proud, and always look forward to coming back. I agree as well that the facility does not have showers and would be difficult to go back and forth to take a shower and get ready for work. The facility is also smelly and trainers did not even ask if anyone was new. Just did not appeal to my needs. May work for others. read more

I have been with Fit for Life in Mountain View since the day they opened about four years ago and have never wanted to go anywhere else. The program is composed of a circuit blending weight training, cardio, and creativity kept at both high intensity and high mutual encouragement by both the trainers and the participants. The new venue is great! The TRX set-up along the north wall adds a whole new level of core strengthening exercises to the array that comes with hand weights, kettle bells and smash balls. Most importantly, the people involved are caring, encouraging and attentive. I have seen new folks come in shyly, tentatively, and find a home where they make huge life changes, more than just pounds and sizes lost- changes in lifestyle and in self-image. I am so grateful for Fit for Life! It is so welcoming and comfortable, so many great people that become your support system! The work outs were great! I went from not working out at all weighing 221 lbs to wanting to do double days ! After my third week I was craving to go and super happy with every bit of sweat that came from my hard work! I started coming here in October 2018 after injuring myself by overdoing it at another gym. James and Kat create a very welcoming, fun atmosphere. People of all ages and all fitness levels come here to improve their fitness, which is inspiring to me. James consistently provides options for each exercise, based on your fitness level. I am challenged and encouraged, but never pushed to the point to injury. Even when I have been gone for a few weeks for vacation, James will come over and check in, which is nice to be missed. An extra added bonus of this location: the commercial French bakery in the same strip mall; you can smell but you cannot purchase! :) This is a great place to come and exercise, whether you are in great shape or trying to get there! read more

Love it! Never the same workout, and every minute that you're there, you have instructions on what you need to do. No downtime, no conversations. And James is great, very positive, and stays engaged with the group throughout the 50 minutes. It's always amusing when when he starts singing. Just turn off your mind and do what you have to do. I absolutely loved the boot camp workouts. There were always a new workout every day and they always kept you on your toes. You never were bored when you were there. James "aka" Hitch always kept pushing you to be a better self. Always had modifications if I couldn't do a exercise and had ways to make a exercise harder if you needed more of a challenge. I did the 6 week challenge of losing 20 lbs and doing the workout. Was a bit disappointed with the support I received during the challenge. Was told at orientation that someone would be always be checking in with you to make sure that you are eating right and not once did anyone check to see how I was doing. When I was struggling with not losing weight, I couldn't get any help from the trainer or from the person who runs it, Roy. It was nice to have a support group on facebook, some of the challengers who have done several challenges are so amazing and helpful. I did lose the 20 lbs and they are true to their words about the refund if you do it. I would of continued my membership if they had a east bay location. Unfortunately, it was very hard on my family for me to workout that far away. If you are ready, to kick your own butt into no excuses, eat exactly what they want you to do, and do the workouts, you will be totally proud at how you look after 6 weeks. Loved the gym and the trainers and really enjoyed going for the three years I was a member. However, when I had to cancel my membership, the owner was really slimy and charged me for three months after I cancelled because I "didn't send a cancellation email". I didn't know I had to send one and tried to compromise asking if I could just be charged one month for my honest mistake ($100) instead of 3 months ($300) like I was charged. I explained that Im a teacher and was out of the country so I didn't notice I was still being charged, and I contacted him to let him know the day I came back and saw I was still being charged. He was not polite and was unwilling to compromise. So I basically got a $300 fine for cancelling in person rather than sending an email. Watch out for that Roy! I've heard other complaints of people getting their challenge deposits back, this gym is really expensive so just be careful. read more

Like another reviewer has mentioned" Do it at your own risk". You may end up injuring yourself badly if you don't maintain proper form while doing some of the drills. The instructors don't pay attention to improper from ( I noticed several people doing weights incorrectly ) and are either chatting amongst themselves or checking their phone. Sometimes, there is no stretching after the rigorous work out. Also, there is no nutrition guide & body assessment done when you start, unlike what is claimed in the groupon. read more

Fit for life never returns phone calls. Bummer, tried an amazon local deal and followed directions to call and set up an appointment. They never answer their phone and don't return calls. I even drove out to their address listed, there's no sign, no advertising and they were closed at 9:00 in the morning. To be fair, this wasn't a Mtn. View number, but a general 1 800 number. The Mtn. Fit for life, and my wife Katherine, have been the best things to ever happen in my life! I have been overweight my entire life and for years I wanted to lose weight but never knew how to start. I hated gyms because I would walk the treadmill for 30min then be clueless of what to do next, and just go home thinking...well, I fit a workout in, I'm done. Last December I weighed my heaviest, 252lbs, and was told by my wife that she heard of FFL and she would like for both of us to join. Of course I agreed thinking, well after our upcoming vacation to the Philippines she will forget all about it. Nope, right after the trip we were sitting and listening to Roys eye opening and inspiring orientation and something clicked and next thing we were doing was signing right up. FFL is awesome, hands down, for those who complain about it are not there for the right reasons and have not put in 100% effort into their workouts. I'm just finishing my 2nd 20lb challenge and last weighed in at 206lbs. Since I started I have not had a Gout flare up, blood pressure has gone down, I dropped pants and shirt sizes, my confidence rose, I'm more active and more aware of what I eat. I've inspired friends and family and most of all my wife. She always worried about my health and when my cousin passed away at the age of 27 from a stroke, my health was always on the back of her mind. Now she sees my changes and we have common ground and support for a new lifestyle change. The trainers James, Amera, Brooke, and Eric are great! They adjust exercises for individuals and give great advice for any dieting or exercise needs. They will always be there to help you out. When I first joined with the groupon, it was amazing. Instructors were engaging, helped with adjustments and form, gave great advice and the classes were fun. So I joined and continued with a monthly membership. About 9 months later, the instructors began sleeping in their office, gathering in the office and basically leaving an "assistant" to watch us, not even talking to members but rather staring at their phones the entire time. I immediately began to lose motivation. It just wasn't fun, engaging, motivating or even safe at times. I can remember multiple times when there was no instructor even on the floor with us, either they were in the office or around the corner on their phone. Situations arose where I was unable to go and I tried to cancel but was told I could just freeze the account to keep my rate. Ok, fine. Well we ended up moving completely away from any Fit For Life, like a few hours away, and the account freeze ended while we were moving. I completely forgot (because I was in the middle of a move) and emailed them a few days after asking for the money back. After about 10 days of emailing, I got the final answer of no on my refund. Gave me a 1-month credit that I will never be able to use. Joy! Didn't even offer me a partial refund. Apparently FFL is hard up and $97 would make or break them. Do the right thing and accommodate a customer when it was an honest mistake. That $97 might be chump change to some, but to us it is a huge deal. $97 was affordable a few months ago but circumstances change with jobs, relationships and family situations and $97 now makes a world of difference.
