I heard of Kelly through a friend and originally started with privates post partum. Kelly tailored our workouts to my specific needs while keeping my interest in a much "slower" workout than I was used to. I was shocked how quickly results came from a workout that didn't leave me absolutely drained the rest of the day. I knew I was hooked on Barre Roots. I truly feel more stable on my feet with all the core strength I now have; my entire body is leaner and more toned. I am now pregnant again and continuing group classes- Kelly still makes sure to check in with me as my body is changing and I am adapting. Most of the people there cane over to say hello and introduce themselves. Even though they were running a strongman class, we could still access other equipment and do our own thing. Definitely recommend this place if you are deciding to try out crossfit for the first time. I came from a conventional gym program, got pregnant, and then tried crossfit and have been hooked since day 1. I will never go back to strictly isolation-only lifting. I find that my crossfit training has made everyday activities that require any sort of lifting, strength, or endurance - seamless. The coaches are super helpful/patient and KNOWLEDGABLE.. They make everyday different, challenging, and fun. Highly recommend for ALL levels of fitness.. Not sure what the negative reviews are about.. I have never experienced any separation between "elite" and beginners at this gym. When I came into the box for the first time, I was 70lb overweight from my not-so-fit pregnancy and was definitely not my usual "fit-self". Despite my situation, the coaches and members that I had classes with everyday were always friendly, engaging, and encouraging... I am stronger everyday and am so thankful for those who have pushed me to be better everyday at this gym.

And we're so glad we did…read more The owner Donnie and all the coaches were outgoing, friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable...and yes, in great shape themselves! And the members there were also a welcoming and kind bunch. I was amazed at how many of them quickly learned my name and offered encouragement to me throughout our workouts together. I've been a fan of CrossFit for a long time, having done the workouts at various times on my own at home. But this was my first time being an a CrossFit gym/box. It can be intimidating to step into a place like this (because let's face it, CrossFit is intense and physically demanding), but any apprehension I had was quickly relieved by the warm smiles from Donnie, the coaches, and all the regulars at Ionic. Ionic members are a wide range of ages and levels of fitness. If you have a nagging injury or a movement that is difficult to master, the coaches will offer you a modified movement to use in your workout. For me, there were a handful of movements during the one week that were above my pay grade, and Donnie and the other coaches were quick to offer me ideas for alternate exercises. And they also coached me up on practicing the difficult movements (snatches, double-unders, etc.). I loved the app they use (Wodify) for registering for classes, reviewing what movements will be involved in the workout, and also tracking my results (and the leaderboard for each workout segment). All in all, I cannot speak highly enough about this gym!

I've dropped in on three different visits to Bonita to visit my parents and every time I'm welcomed back. Despite having been at crossfit for about 6 years I still really struggle with overhead lifts. Donnie, Sue, Marcela, and the other coaches didn't hesitate to offer guidance and encouragement. If I lived in the area, I'd be a member, but alas I'm only a visitor! Thank you, Ionic community.. I'll be back. :)

You will FEEL your hard work right away, and will SEE it shortly after. This isn't just for your body, but your mind too! You can feel the studio energy as soon as you walk in. I love that it's bright and airy, clean, and community-driven. Often times there are small business pop ups on Saturdays! Every instructor has their own vibe, definitely try them all to find your faves. Such a positive and encouraging environment. Studio sells grip socks, merch and waters. Can park in one of the spots out front, street parking, or one of the lots just a short walk away. Their app makes it easy to book, and there are often specials for those who are new and want to check out a couple classes.

I really enjoyed how different Fuego was, compared to Solidcore and Lagree and how creative some of the movements were. I also really liked how big the platform and carriage are, making some of the moves much more accessible and pain/discomfort free. It should be noted that this is more high-intensity and is not like contemporary/Stott. I would also prefer more hands-on instruction and form correction throughout the class. I would go back if I were to come to the area again and would recommend to anyone familiar with Solidcore/Lagree!
