Play It Again Sports buys and sells gently used sports items was the draw for my family. we've probably shopped there about 40 times in the past 10 years on the type that I want to inform and give the full picture out of the 40 times we shop there I would say 37 of those times we left satisfied and found what we needed but th two terrible experiences with Play It Again Sports had nothing to do with thestaff of the store the cleanliness of the store or the ability an inventory of the store the terrible experiences one I was shopping there alone. I was the only customer in the store and the owner and one employee when I walked into the door the owner was verbally assaulting the female employee. I didn't hear what was being said exactly but, what I did see was the female employee could not have been over High School in age and she was in tears the owner of the store was speaking disgusting words to her and when I left I felt very uncomfortable and felt sad for the employee I never shopped there without my husband again the second two should never be said and my second bad experience was yesterday when my family was in the parking lot before we went in the store we saw homeless gentleman sitting under the one tree in the blazing hot parking lot he was picking up trash that was around him he was not verbally interacting with patrons he was simply sitting alone he was wearing pretty much Rags as a shirt holding a rosary and saying his prayers he looked defeated he was not smoking cigarettes or drinking like usual homeless people do he also was holding a sign but his sign did not say the typical homeless need money his sign only said one word "help" He was not on playing against Sports property the only connection he had to the store was when you walked out the front door if you have eyes you couldn't miss him it's hard to miss a gentleman wearing rags in this 100° Heat he was the only one sitting down he looked defeated and as we left the owner was walking out the door and the owner made sure he told the gentleman he didn't like having to walk out of the store and his eyes having to look at him the owner said it's not a good look to have you near my store I was blown away it wasn't like the homeless guy was bothering Play It Again Sports is patrons or littering out front of his door or drinking smoking cigarettes the homeless guy was picking up trash sitting alone saying his prayers and holding a sign that just said "help" at 10 years of shopping in the store even though most of my experiences were positive .It's sad that the owner is the common denominator of my two bad experiences.Usually you would see its the staff or the cleanliness or lack of inventory makes the experience negative. I do hate that I'll have to drive an hour across the water from Newport News to go to a different Sporting Store but I can't in my right mind give my money to an owner of a company that feels that he is so Superior to every human that he can't even stand having to look at someone less fortunate than himself I would hope that anyone that does read this whole post ask himself you could be that homeless guy and can you imagine when it's 100° outside and you already feel defeated someone to come out and tell you that you're bothering him because he has to look at you.

The cost for range balls is a little more expensive than I would like but that doesn't stop me from going. They do offer a membership that makes it more worth it. Matts are in decent shape. I wish they would add more targets to dial in distances. I've got multiple lessons from Brooks Ward and he's a great guy. He adjusts to your play level and is easy to talk to. I was shooting mid to low 80s pretty consistently before meeting with him and now I am into the high 70's low 80's after a few months of adjusting to changes. Our lessons were more focused on swing mechanics and specific shot types. The 6 hole course is a great time if you only have a half hour or if you are teaching someone new to the game.

Rolling hills and obstructed views make this course more challenging than it looks. The greens are fast as a NASCAR track, so beware of that. Try to stay on the fairway, because the rough can easily swallow your ball and is somewhat difficult to chip out of. Overall, great time! Quick six holes to finish up a work day! Great for the short game (no driver needed here). I never took anything less than an 8 iron out of my bag! Highly recommend!
