This is just not me and my type of body builders. This would be great place for my mom now that I think of it. Very clean and neat.

Who can really afford this? Even though I have done crossfit for years and even coached crossfit in the past in our local community which I explained to him. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM! It does not emobodie the mission or focus of CrossFit and is obviously lacking inclusivity, community, or "fitness for all". I was not even allowed to drop in for payment. Shame. Very sad. Im suprised and actually disturbed by this experince. I do not recommend and upset that this is the crossfit experience offered to our local community

Eventually my wife also came and joined because, not only did Josh show personal interest in us but also in our son who at the time was only two. What has kept us going is the level of coaching Josh provides. He knows who needs that extra push and who needs to be held back a little for their own well being. I have made progress by leaps and bounds in strength and gymnastics. I highly recommend Crossfit Nipomo to those wanting to lose a few pounds, to those wanting to improve their quality of life and those seeking to take their Crossfit proficiency to a higher level.

The positives: - the owner is very nice and accommodating for my unusual request of just a single month membership to keep up my fitness and boxing practice while visiting for a month. - some of the trainers were amazing (others not at all (more on that later). - I do enjoy the no set class times so you can just go whenever you're done with work or need to get to the gym "now" because your motivation may not last. - They seemed to do quite a bit of member events and socials outside of the gym (unsure if that's because it was the holiday season or if this typical year round). - When I had a trainer I liked, it was a pretty good workout and can see why some people enjoy 9Round. The negatives: - the trainer makes ALL the difference. I honestly wish I had explored more of who the other trainers would be during the week vs during the weekends. I started adjusting my work schedule to avoid trainers I didn't like... - If you don't like super loud music in a tiny space, this isn't for you. I'd leave with a headache most days because it was just too much. - This isn't a gym for people who need physical accommodations. Some trainers were better than others, but they definitely didn't enjoy the fact I didn't feel comfortable kicking given surgical metal in my ankle and so it hurt like a MoFo to do any of those moves. You also ALWAYS start in Round One with jump rope... that was brutal. - The class times are really bizarre. They're open in the morning for a bit, close for an hour, and then open again for 90 minutes and then are closed all the way until after work hours. It's weird they don't have a lunch time option given how quick and efficient the workout is. I wish I would have realized that before signing up. - They make you switch your stance all the time (fighter stance to non-dominate stance) and even within the same combo. While I get what they're trying to do (even out the effort on both sides), this lead to me pulling muscles because my form was so off when trying to be SouthPaw vs just staying in my fighter stance. Not to mention it's super confusing to think about it when you're already taxing your system with a hard workout. All in all, I see what people enjoy 9Round and are very loyal to it, but it just wasn't for me. I want more of a mix of weight lifting and cardio and this gym just doesn't offer that type of workout.

Ruben covers both nutrition and fitness in a no none sense matter of fact manner. The menu plan is amazing, I've never eaten so much fantastic food outside of a restaurant since signing up for the program. I never had a weight problem but was concerned about my overall aesthetics. I wanted my 20's body back and right now I'm on the path to getting there. I had marked results in only 30 days. If you want results and are willing to put in the work. My doctor wanted to refer me to a nutritionist but I decided to go out on my own. Through another website and a friend, I discovered Ruben (and others) with Fit To Be In Your Kitchen. Ruben tailored a meal plan and work out to my specific needs. I actually lost some weight and very slowly gained after that. My doctor was very impressed with my progress. I was never hungry and never felt deprived of foods I wanted (because I wasn't). Ruben's approach is not about food elimination to get you to your goal but about portion sizes and eating foods with the macronutrients your body needs when you need it. My workouts were fabulous too! I was lifting weights in the gym and doing cardio up until 2 days before my baby was born. I don't feel like I lost any muscle or conditioning at all. Thanks to Ruben I had a very healthy pregnancy and am continuing those new habits into motherhood.

I found Solid Core on the CrossFIt.com website, the beauty of the CrossFit communityis that "drop-ins" are allowed and encouraged. I have always felt welcomed at the gyms I visit, Solid Core was no different. Coach Erin welcomed me in, I always arrive early to get the paperwork done and look around the facility. It's a standard crossfit gym with all the proper equipment and apparatuses around the gym. The work out started with a quality warm-up complete with static and active stretching and an EMOM (every minute on the minute) of active movements to get the blood flowing. I always appreciate when coaches integrate the movements of the metcon (the actual workout of the day) within the warm-up. The metcon was both challenging and fun, both movements were my weaknesses. Coach Erin encourages the athletes to scale appropriately and encouraged us to scale within the workout if the movements proved to be too difficult. The entire group were warm and welcoming despite it being 5:30 AM, I felt part of the group and really enjoyed the workout and camaraderie. If I lived in the area, this would be my Box! I highly recommend trying out Solid Core either if you are a seasoned crossfitter or thinking about trying crosssfit for the first time!

Many schools provide lessons; 5 Cities provides an elite aquatic foundation. Watching the new ownership evolve this program has been incredible. They've managed to blend high-level technical instruction with a "safety-first" mentality that is unmatched on the Central Coast. The themed classes are brilliant--they keep my kids engaged while secretly building life-saving habits into every drill. The fact that we travel 25 minutes past other options to get here should tell you everything you need to know. My 5-year-old's progress has exceeded every expectation I had as a professional. With an indoor pool for year-round training and a staff that is clearly vetted for both skill and safety, this is the gold standard. Stop looking at other schools. This is the one.

Excellent indoor swimming classes and location! Super friendly and amazing instructors!…read more We wanted to send our toddler to swimming school for a little while now. However, with the weather on the central coast, we didn't want to send him to an outdoor swimming school. I was so excited when I came across an ad on instagram from 5 Cities Swim School. The indoor heated pool was definitely the determination factor for us. The clean facility and amazing instructors sealed the deal! Nick reached out to me quickly almost as soon as I filled out the information online. I was a little disappointed to find out they didn't have the exact day and time for the class that I was hoping to get our kid in. However, I realized after the 1st week, unless you want your kiddo to have the same instructor every week, it actually doesn't matter what class they're enrolled in. You can always mark them absence and easily request a makeup class for the day and time that work for you. With our crazy rotating schedules and our toddler's starting pre-K soon after he started coming here, we pretty much had a different class and instructor every week. Fortunately, all the instructors follow the same class routine, so our toddler still got to learn and progress quickly even tho he has never gone to the same class more than 2 times lol. The instructors to students ratio here is pretty high, which makes us feel at ease knowing our kid would be safe here. Even for the lowest level that requires at least 1 parent/adult to be in the water with the kiddo, the ratio is still only 1 to 6. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you don't live too far from here and want to look for a great swimming school for your child/children, I highly recommend 5 Cities Swim School!
