If you are looking for a steam room, big screen t.v., and a country club feel...this is not the place. I am new to lifting weights but they have every machine one could possibly want. It never gets super busy and people don't hog the machines when there are a few people in there. You could play your own play list if you want to hear it out loud. Love that they are 24/7. I had been looking for a gym since I moved here. I tried quite a gyms in my area but I found the best gym to be Central Coast Barbell. This gym gives you an old school bodybuilding feeling. They have all the equipment you need. If you are like myself and powerlift, this gym is also for you. You have a platform for deadlifting, a deadlift bar and a power bar. You have a combo rack for squats and bench press. The community is great and many people are willing to help you or spot you. This gym has some equipment you would rarely find anywhere else (i.e. true squat machine) along with other machines such as a belt squat. The owner Danny is very helpful and welcoming. He has multiple payment options that range from monthly to yearly. The price is more than worth the membership and having 24/7 access to the gym is beyond helpful. This is a hidden gem within the central coast and I highly recommend this gym if your looking for a place to you reach your goals. read more

I went here for about a year and a half. As a woman who was new to lifting heavy, I liked that most of the time it was pretty empty - so rarely was there a wait for weights/machines and with less people = less intimidating for me as a newb. It also has everything you could ever want if you're into powerlifting etc. If you're a woman going here, know that it's 99.9% men. For the year and a half that I went everyone pretty much kept to themselves. But then I had one really creepy encounter and that was all it took for me not to feel safe here anymore. Sometimes it's just you and one other person there and no staff... that was a plus for me for a long time, until it wasn't. I emailed the staff after this situation happened and they just said "that's weird for him to do that, we'll talk to him". That didn't really make me feel any safer honestly, so I sadly canceled my membership. I'f you're a woman and decide to join, I would go with a partner or during the afternoon staff hours. read more

Lots of free weights, open benches, squat racks and deadlifting platform. 24 hour access is such a key thing to have to me. Sweet spot. Everyone there already knows what they're doing and won't be wierd/give you problems. For anyone who's lifts prioritize the big 3, they've got multiple benches and all the squat racks you could need. They have all kinds of dumbbells and machines, but I don't use those as much. Nothing fancy. Not a globo gym. Exactly my style. Per usual I used only dumbbells. Was camping with fam for 5 days at pismo so I got a week pass. You'll get a passcode but everytime I went which was evening there were already people there and roll doors were up. Reminded me of my old CrossFit box. Everyone stuck to them selves. I think I only saw 2 women in total besides myself the whole time I was there which bothers me not at all but thought I'd share in case a woman wants more female presence. If you are staying at oceano dunes (where I stayed) it's right around the corner Only negative is one evening the music was pretty foul. I knew every world lol cause I'm gen whatever listened to limp bizkit when he was doing it all for the nookie. However I'd rather not hear f bombs every other word these days. The members here are definitely some of the most respectful and hardworking individuals. I dropped my wallet while working out and didn't realize it until after hours of leaving. So I contacted Corrine, one of the owners, and she quickly checked the cameras for me and found that someone had found it and asked everyone that was there if they had lost a wallet. It was turned in to the office and I picked it up soon after. Very thankful for the awesome people who workout here. I also love how this gym is open 24/7 hours and memberships are very straightforward without the hassle of dealing with any long-term plan commitments. I got a guest pass in advance. I just contacted the office during 4:30-7pm. They texted me a link to a guest form to fill out. It's a great place to train with old school feel. There are several racks, benches, varieties of different machines, numerous dumbbells, barbells, speciality bars, a deadlift platform, and a SSB. There are also some strongman equipment. I got a day pass here. Just need to contact business ahead of time and they'll text you a link to sign up for day pass. Simple e-form to fill out and pay with a credit card. Do not expect global gym equipment or environment or else you'll be disappointed. This is an old school gym. However, if you're into strength training and compound lifts, CCB has everything you need: barbells, power racks, deadlift platform and plenty of plates. The Gym is perfect for what it is. It doesn't have as many amenities as most commercial gyms do (sauna, showers, etc) but the equipment/environment provided is the best around. With a multitude of bars and plenty of equipment compared to the low volume of people training (most I've seen in there is about 15 at once), this gym is perfect for those looking to bring intensity to their training, After a week here, the community seems to be respectful of one another and the equipment-- displayed by the bars/dumbbells/weights always being racked and cleaned. Great prices, upfront--no sales reps-, open 24/7. This gym isn't going to be for everyone but my brother and I feel as if we stumbled upon a treasure. read more

If you're serious about training with no hassle,distractions, or global gym environment then this is the place. Month to month which was great the sign up was quick. Litrrally filled out a waiver paid my dues and that was it. No up selling or asking for references. My favorite part is the environment. the equipment is old,nothing fancy, good ol raw iron everywhere and it all works. Its 24hrs which is great and is well maintained. I wish I could take this gym home with me to Los Angeles, but when I'm back out here for an extended period of time again. I'll be signing up again. read more

I tried it for a month. It was a great deal. Only $35 for all access, anytime, 24 hours a day. No classes, showers, or fancy frills but lots of cardio machines and free weights. Never crowded. I docked a point for cleanliness. Wish stuff were cleaner but for $35, can't complain too much. I quit after a month not because of anything wrong with the gym. I am just lazy. read more

This is a great gym. The facility is clean, available 24 hours a day (you're given a personal code to open the doors), and everyone here is friendly. Being a girl working out on my own, I don't have to worry about some gym creeper coming up to me and asking "hey girl..you need a spotter??". However, if you need a spot, people are more than willing to help you out, no creeper intentions whatsoever. What's nice about this place is the sense of community. It's usually the same crowd when I go and we all have the same goals. It's a great atmosphere to work out in. Oh..and my favorite part? The weights are ORGANIZED! And they stay organized! This gym is absolutely fantastic. I worked as a trainer at a large 24 Hour Fitness for a couple years in the LA area and I would MUCH rather work out here than at a 24 (or any other commercial gym for that matter). I'm not in the area frequently enough to warrant getting a regular membership, but whenever I am in the area I will absolutely be returning. They have treadmills and a ton of weight lifting equipment to help you get in shape. The owners, Corinne and Jarod, are the nicest people you will ever meet. They keep the place spotless. No one is here to impress anyone else. No one is here to get a date. This is the place to go if you are serious about working out. Once you become a member you get your own key so you can use the gym whenever you want, not during certain business hours. The office is only open from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. but the owners are flexible so if you want to take a tour just give them a call. Also, there are no pesky long term contracts. The one and only gym for me. I've been training here for about 3 years now and I can say this place has changed my life. People come here to train their strength, endurance, and mind. Everyone who already trains at the gym is extremely friendly and willing to lend a hand or give a few tips to newcomers. It's a 24 hour gym so there's no need to worry if you work late nights or early mornings because you can come in anytime. The office hours to sign up are 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM and it only costs 35$ a month to sign up and you can look at their other long term deals. All in all this place is for people willing to make a serious change for themselves whether it be in the strength department or just trying to get fit.
