I really didn't know my way around a gym or how to use the machines. I didn't do strength training or work on flexibility, mobility, and balance. But about 15 years ago I started getting injured and have now had multiple orthopedic surgeries for injuries and have also struggled with carpel tunnel syndrome. Over time I simply got out of shape. I worked with 7 different physical therapists and 3 other trainers before meeting Rich. Rich has been incredible. First, he is very knowledgeable and explains things well. I had way more to learn than I realized -which was also humbling, especially in a serious gym surrounded by mostly much younger people. When I started back at the gym, I was literally so weak that I had trouble getting up off the ground. I was afraid of getting injured and requiring more surgeries. I couldn't answer his questions ("Where did you feel that? In your glutes or your quads?") But he has always been very patient and kind. He has believed I was capable of progress and had more confidence in me than I had in myself. He stresses form and I've learned a great deal from him - things about my body that I wish I'd learned decades ago. I trust him to be sure the workouts are balanced - on both sides of my body as well as the complementary muscle groups. He's taught me about how to bear the load with my muscles instead of my joints and my posture has improved significantly. I'm stronger than I've been in 20 years at least, and I'm doing things I never thought I'd be able to do. Rich designs workouts for me 3x/week and I continue to improve. He has become one of the most important people in my life -because the old adage really is true: Use it or lose it. I'm at the age where I see people begin to get limited in what they are able to do. I'm working out for health and fitness now - and to position myself for the next 10-20-30 years. I'm very grateful for him and to him, and recommend him without reservation.

He always varies the routine and focuses on functional exercises, with lots of core and balance. But the exercises aren't just random as he is very knowledgeable and explains the why of certain exercises whenever we ask. He has a great approach, very personable and also always keeping an eye on our postures and making sure we're doing the exercises properly. I appreciate how he pushes us to always try to go a little harder, but is always mindful of our limits so we don't get injured. Within two months we already saw visible results in our bodies and also our resistance and strength. He is also always on time and never missed a session (and we train at 7am!). The only time we had to skip a session he got in touch with us way ahead of time and promptly rescheduled it. We're pretty happy with him as our trainer and will continue working with him this year for sure!

Navid was my fitness instructor over 6 months, and he is the BEST trainer I've ever worked with…read more First, he has natural talent as a teacher. There was never any judgment, no matter where a trainee was in his/her fitness level. He helped me focus on individual improvement overtime (and I improved at least 3 times my baseline!). He also helped me learn good form so that I wouldn't hurt myself. This piece about good form is easier said than done. Not every trainer is able to acutely notice and clearly communicate what needs to be corrected. Second, he always had a clear lesson plan prepared. There were tough days that really pushed me to my limits. And the subsequent day would be a nice balance focusing on different muscle groups. Third, he is clearly knowledgable about healthy living in general. He's able to provide nutrition advice to supplement the workouts. Navid is an awesome trainer -- encouraging and focused -- and I highly recommended him as a trainer. (I've recommended his class/gym to friends.) The course I took with him was all about full body workouts using functional exercises (i.e., no equipment). I use those techniques in my independent workouts nowadays, and it's great feeling comfortable enough to design and do intense workouts on my own.
