Glad I got a membership with this gym! After 2 long months of long gym hoping. I've tried many gyms in the charlotte area and this is by far one of the best ones. Lots of parking available, the gym smells clean when you enter. Professionals at the desk welcome you when you enter. The gym has these nice color combinations on the walls I'm really digging it. Keeps you up with all these beautiful bright colors on the walls. I notice the pictures don't do justice when you see them online, it's when you're here you get to see how big and spacious this gym really is. I honestly just got my membership haven't fully walked around the gym. The machines i wanted to use were at the front so I kind of just went to them. I liked how they had multiple machines of the same ones so no one has to wait to use em, that's one thing I think many gyms lack. U have to wait around and fish for a machines to use and be on the look out no one takes your spot. I liked how the machines were lined across and a perfect amount of space in between the machines. I went for biceps and triceps and a few other machines and I honestly had an amazing time. I also notice they have a basketball court that's really nice indoors court love it. Next time I'll go I'll go further down and see what else they have. So far so good will highly recommend this gym to anyone one new on the area like myself. The membership was at a good price for the quality and equipment this gym offers. Really happy and satisfied on the choice I made signing up here. Hello, let first start by say that this review is not indicative of the Fitness Connection Gym and programming. The physical gym and staff are a 5 Star cast! My issue is with the property management where the gym is located. The property owner and management need to be held accountable for the poor conditions such as potholes in the parking lot. Trash, poorly maintained landscaping and homeless encampments. On the Farm Pond Lane entry at the FC sign is a homeless encampment beside the sign. This is a poor reflection on the tenant's when the property manager is not doing its part to make the area pleasant and inviting. The Albemarle Road area has been classified as a corridor of opportunity which entitles business owners with opportunities to make positive upgrades in their property, such as façade improvements. These are grants that businesses can apply for to make capital improvements. These property management should consider this type of opportunity. The members that patronize FC deserve better. Please put pressure on the management to improve the surroundings. read more

Overall the gym is okay, but the hours are unlike most gyms which is matter of fact and not opinion. I was sent two emails where I was asked to complete a survey, after the second email I finally completed the survey expressing how I felt the hours could be better. (It would be important to add that is was the only thing I mentioned that could use improvement because I understood that the other issues can be staff related.) I received a follow up email at almost 10 PM, stating not to poorly rate the store over something they cannot control as the hours are company controlled. As the consumer, if I'm asked how the gym could improve what is the point of the survey if you're going to email me back with a condescending tone about my experience? I found the staff to be interesting for their own different reasons but this was definitely weird and to some it can be perceived as unprofessional. read more

Cons: you can't bring a guest anytime like some other gyms. They don't have a family plan. I had to pay for my son to get a membership (he's 14) just so he can play basketball while I workout. Pros: Convenient location for me. Womens only workout area with treadmills in a theatre room. read more

So I came here since I wanted to try out another "Fitness Connection" and compare it to the other locations. I actually really like this gym (specifically this location). The lighting is bright which I think gives you a bit more energy and the place is pretty big. There is a cycle room, basketball court, kids room and a woman's section. The gym is spacious enough to maintain social distancing and there is someone frequently cleaning the gym throughout the day. The machines are very well maintained and they have a separate exercise room outside of the weights (in the basketball court and additional machines near the locker room). There is plenty of parking outside, TVs on throughout the gym if your a sports buff and also sports/protein drinks for great prices if you don't have one on you. The only reason why I gave this gym a 4 instead of a 5 is because I noticed that other gyms had the "green section" and ropes where you could do the battle ropes as a workout or push and pull the weights down the lane. This gym doesn't have that however it is in a convenient location, it's not too crowded, the staff is friendly (major plus) and it's clean. I just want to give a COVID review. My first experience going to the gym since COVID started was last week and I opted to come to this gym. They require that everyone wear a face mask while inside. That means even when you are on a treadmill or on the stair stepper you have to have a mask on. This is taking some getting use to for me! Additionally they do an amazing job of keeping this place clean. I have visited at several times in the day, from 5am-6pm. Each time I am there I see staff cleaning. They also have increased the amount of cleaning sprays and tissue for patrons to use. They are asking all patrons to clean equipment before using it and when you are done using it. This gym has set the standard for me. I wish I could stay in Charlotte just so I can work out at this gym. read more

Please enforce rules around children in the women's area. Your women's weight section has had multiple children playing around which is clearly dangerous and distracting to other paying members. This is a gym for adults not a Chuckee Cheese. I am talking about your 6320 Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212 location. These kids are clearly not of age and should be in the kids area or not coming to the gym at ALL. Please also enforce rules and install vent covers in your women's sauna. Members are pouring fragrances into the heater system which is causing your company money and frustrating members who have been unable to use these amenities because of the selfishness of others. The staff is cordial. I like all of them. They actually need to stop being so nice and allowing people ruining the quality of the gym. read more

I joined this gym at the Northlake location but regularly attend the University one because it's closer to my home. While I love the University location and the benefits kids club, women's workout area that's private (well worth it ) this gym franchise has the Worst customer service support online. I had an issue with my payment method and I needed to update online so I went into the app to manage my account and kept getting this error message each time. So I then proceeded to call their customer service line. The system said I was number 1 in que, and after close to 45 min of waiting , I got off. Called again next day number 9 in que, so you know I wasn't waiting . Then I submitted messages through the app to get Tech Support and of course no one responded. Then I called the gym and got voicemail of management. The crazy part is that, they were quick to call me when my payment didn't go through but when i needed to update payment method, no one was available. I really like the facility at University and it has motivated me to really remain consistent with my work out routine. The rates are decent and I love the kids club for my kids. But with the poor customer service and the teachers not showing up on time to teach fitness classes, has truly put a bad taste in my mouth with this franchise. read more

Joined to play basketball which is a cool area to play but the floors for the basketball court are tremendously slippery even after someone broke their leg. The floor is horrible! Plus they shutdown an hour early before closing. read more

The new staff really doesn't seem to care, they show up late to open on weekdays & do not pick up any of the equipment that is left laying around. I know it is our responsibility to put the weights back but some people don't. The previous staff was so good & used to walk around, and make sure the gym was clean & weights got restocked & held people accountable when they didn't. The new staff just sits on the counter tops and chit chats to each other, I don't ever see them walk around & take care of the gym. I also haven't seen the dumbbells completely wracked in so long & its really upsetting that they are letting this FC get lazy read more

The staff here is unhelpful. Long story short: I got a membership here and decided to cancel it the same day. The staff member who helped me ensured me that it was taken care. I walk in two days later to check on the status and upon talking to the manager, learned that no change had been made to my account. It was still active. After explaining my situation to them and telling them that it should have been canceled, they encouraged me to call online and get it fixed. Well guess what? The online corporate number redirects you to the store, which sends me exactly to the same person that told me to call. Staff is entirely unhelpful and they make getting out of a membership impossible. Now I'm stuck paying $72 ($22 monthly fee + $50 annual fee) for a months worth of gym membership that I had no intention of paying thanks to someone that didn't do their job correctly. PS: If you want qualify gym service, go to Dowd YMCA. The staff is actually helpful and their facilities are way better. No staff that doesn't do their job correctly, and no one that tells you to call a number to get you out of their hair but actually helps you. After adjusting yearly cost between both gyms, it's only a $20 difference for so much more. read more

I've been a member of many gyms. The atmosphere here is just right for me. I like the variety of pop music they play and the music level is just right. I like to sneak in workouts while still answering my work phone and the background music I'm the gym does not interfere. The temperature is also perfect and the lighting and decor. I do wish they had a few more clocks around so I can keep track of time... because obviously you can get carried away because it's so much fun and you never have to wait for a machine even with covid distancing! The staff are very down to earth and friendly - of course there are a few youngins working there but hey... we all have to start somewhere... managers are quick to jump in for any out of the box questions... like when I asked them to cut my lock because I locked my key inside. ‍ And... yea. Cleaning is a way of life there. Which I like to see anyway... not just for Covid! I would like to see a bigger floor workout space - or at least us being able to use the class studio space for stretching or rolling in between classes. Is there a spot to stretch before I go home and freeze up? Maybe I haven't found it yet. read more

They used to enforce the mask mandate, now they don't. There's signs on the door when you enter but once you get inside probably 60% of the people inside don't have a mask on. This is really upsetting to see, especially from a standpoint of a nurse. This is the type of thing that's going to cause businesses to completely close again. The gym itself isn't bad. Hands down the worst gym I have ever been too. Dead cockroaches on the floor and in the shower. Had an individual brandishing a gun in the bathroom and no one was at the front desk to tell. Individuals using heavy profanity and management doing nothing about it. Canceled my membership and the manager didn't offer any solution to any of the problems. Stay away. read more

i have been trying for 5 hours to cancel a training appt due to a medical issue and will be unable to keep his appt. every time i call it states i am 18 in the que. this is unacceptable to me, poor customer service. so to cancel this appt i am going to have to get in my car and drive to the gymn because no one will answer the phone! read more

This one just opened close to home, my 1st time at this location and just happen to try zumba with Keesha. This was the best class I've taken. She was great, high energy, great personality and she did a great set! I will definitely be a regular for her class. The new location looks great also. read more
