National Sports has changed a ton over the years. I still remember when it was essentially a giant…read moreopen warehouse with designated spaces where you could try out your new hockey stick and cages where you could take a few swings with a new bat. It might not have these active places but they still carry a ton of athletic apparel and gear at hugely discounted rates. The store is sectioned off into two main spaces. The first part where you enter holds the checkout area and all of your sporting and outdoor needs. They have stuff for men's, women's, and junior's. The entire middle section of the store is tables and tables of shoes that are separated by size and out of the box. They have a lot of good brands like Nike, Asics, New Balance, and UnderAmour to name a few. Everything is already at a pretty good price but there is a clearance section on the left wall of the store as well. I spotted some nice pieces from The North Face but they were still a bit pricey. The other part of the store is their licensed apparel and goods section for all of the Toronto teams including the Leafs, Jays, Raptors, and TFC. Outside of the normal team wear, there were framed and signed Leafs jerseys, framed Raps home finals tickets (replica), and collectibles like tiny lego Leafs players, and team flags for hanging and cars. This area also had a special kiosk for customizable jerseys here for all of the major sports. I was surprised to see that they had some jerseys and hats for other NFL/NBA/NHL teams and some of the bigger soccer teams as well. I had come looking for some Raptors wear at a lower price. They didn't have any jerseys and some of the shirts looked a little cheaper than what you find online at the official NBA store but I managed to find a nice sweatshirt and a hat that fit my head pretty well. They were having a 20% off sale on lowest ticketed price of a lot of the licensed team merchandise when I was browsing, so I wound up getting both for $50 after tax.

I'm not talking about 1 rack, I'm talking the size of the regular price side of the store. It's overwhelming. This is the place for deals on EVERYTHING. Jackets, shoes, shorts and all things sports. My man and I come here to get clothes to wear on vacation, swimsuits, shorts, tanks, etc all year round at insanely low prices. Sizes can be limited, but you WILL find something. I refuse to get a cart, because I will fill it.

Walked into Sportchek Ajax a week ago and found a winter coat it was on sale (had a green sticker) I walked up to the cashier and paid for it took all of 10 minutes. The cashier was friendly even offering additional discounts like for friends and family or something like that, she handed me a Canadian tire card with points as an extra, tossed the jacket on the table (no bag) and wished me well. No mention of final sale or anything else of importance. I'm walking to my car with my kids she runs outside and hands me a receipt she forgot to give me. I toss it in the car (again no mention of a final sale on sale items). Yesterday, I try on the jacket it's too large (tags are still on it brand new and unworn). I go back to the store today (6 days after buying) to try and get the same exact jacket smaller size. The cashier tells me too bad so sad final sale!??!. She calls the manager by phone (he doesn't bother coming over to the counter so I can explain) and he supports no exchange no refunds. BUT I was NEVER told final sale?? Never! I look at every word on the receipt all it says is SALE??? OTHERWISE, I would have triple-checked everything like fitment of course asI was in a rush and was with my kids! So I walk out of the store a 2nd time now stuck with a jacket that's too big and useless to me. * Update I got a survey emailed to me which I completed appropriately. They said a "VP" would be getting back to me. No such luck. Then I get " we will certainly re-train" the staff at that store (code word for you aint getting nuttin). Retraining of staff will do zero to help me out with my plight. I didn't ask for a refund just a smaller size and you cant even do that? It had been a while since I walked into a sportchek having bought most of my kids and my coats from sporting life and with this experience I will never walk into a Sportchek again in my life. Sportchek is dead to me.

They staff are all very encouraging, positive and passionate about running. My friend's son has size 14 feet and they called around to try to find some in his size.
