I went in there today to purchase some dumbbell's and the store manager, Ken M. was quick to stop what he was doing & to get out of his seat to greet me and help me with my purchase. It's because of people like him that I'm willing to wait until his store opens instead of going to a big box store like Dick's that was already open and just 2 miles away. I do believe in supporting smaller businesses and often, the lesser known ones, until they give me a reason not to. Stop here first!!!! I went to the Fitness Factory Store on Elston Ave to compare treadmill prices to Dick's Sporting Goods and was greeted by Ken (Store Mgr) and Julian (Sales Rep). Both were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the myriad options available in the store. I had done a bit of research on a Sole treadmill but had some hesitancy about the warranty on that brand, based upon reviews. Ken engaged me in polite and intelligent conversation about my expected and planned use, price range, space, etc. But, after he discussed the warranty on the Spirit brand compared to Sole, for example, I was sold! Ken outlined the details on delivery and setup and the expected date of arrival. I left the store feeling confident I'd made the correct choice. As previously discussed with Ken, the delivery team arrived on the delivery date/time as promised. Delivery and setup were completed by Rob and Josh. They were very, very professional and provided some of the best WHITE GLOVE Service I've seen in a longtime!!! They were cognizant of my floors and carefully navigated around corners and hallways to provide the perfect installment. They cleaned up all debris and trained me on proper use and maintenance of the machine. I've had several great transactions here. I bought my gym floor here, they had several great options, I landed 4x4' interlocking pieces, I'm very pleased with them. This is going to be a weird review. I took to my trusty Yelp search bar this last weekend with "used gym equipment". Fitness Factory was the closest place to me that popped up. My husband and I have upgraded to a home with a basement (read no downstairs neighbors) and we are free to jump around without annoying anyone - meaning a home gym is in the works. I am in the market for a squat rack, cable machine, various kettlebells, dumbbells and perhaps a bar or two, TRX and treadmill. I know that gyms tend to upgrade certain items and there are certified used gym equipment suppliers for home gyms like what I have. This place, was not used equipment. This is top dollar, commercial gym equipment. Awesome service, great product with a lot of options, it just wasn't what I was in the market for. The man we spoke to was very nice and if my budget (and basement ceiling) permitted, I would have walked out with thousands of dollars worth of weights. We've been shopping here for a few years, ever since they were at their old Elston location. Before we moved into our house, most of my trips were for small things like resistance bands and hand weights. Now that we have a basement, we decided to turn part of it into a workout space. We have low ceilings, so we couldn't buy our cage from them, but picked up weight plates, a bench, dumbbells and bars. Ken helped us pick everything and was very nice. Recently, we visited their new space to pick up a Bosu ball; it's probably been over a year since our last visit, but Ken remembered us. I use our equipment pretty regularly and have been happy with the quality. When we decide to pick up additional gym equipment, this is our first stop. read more

What prompted the clerk to say that was my remark that I would appreciate a bit more courtesy because that same clerk courted me for being too close to him, however, it was he who moved towards me as I was standing in place looking at the monitor that he turned in my direction to look at a product. He should have said something like: "I am going to take my place against the counter now, please step away to avoid close contact. By the way I wore a mask, too. I placed an order on May 1st for rubber flooring for my weight room at the Chicago location. Michael told me that it would take approx 1 - 2 weeks for the product to arrive for pick up. Two weeks later Michael tells me that it will now take 6 weeks total. I decide to patiently wait as I got them on sale. When the six week mark arrives Michael tells me that it will take another 10 days. So today I called Michael having waited almost 8 weeks total and he is telling me the same thing that he emailed his boss, he emailed and called the warehouse, and he doesn't know where it is. He told me I can go ahead and drive to the Forest Park location but there is no guarantee that the product will be there. I asked for a refund. I should have just ordered this from Rogue Fitness as it would have been here a month and a half ago with free shipping. I won't be returning to Fitness Factory. read more

My wife and I went to the Fitness Factory store at 2599 North Elson today and had a great experience. Ken Maxie was the salesperson and he was super knowledgeable about the various types of equipment that would serve our needs. Ken has been doing this job for many years and even knew our ancient Stairmaster 4000 PT machine we were replacing which we bought in the early 1990s. In addition to be incredibly knowledgeable on fitness issues and machines, he was very friendly without being pushy. We bought a piece of equipment that exactly fits our needs - and it was on sale for a great value. As we were checking out we got into a conversation with another salesperson, Julian Headly on some additional fitness topics, as well as the fact that he went to my rival high school. He was also very knowledgeable and friendly. The two of them made for an informative, enjoyable, successful (in finding the right equipment), and low stress experience. I was searching for a smaller recumbent exercise bike to put in my family room, I didn't want to spend a lot on it either as it's going to be used for some short term rehab for a family member that can't use the treadmill that we have in our exercise room in the basement. The most important thing here was the size as I already have a larger one that I want to get rid of. I looked online, also went to Sports Authority, and Dick's, everything was either too large or the smaller units were of poor quality and cheaply made. I remembered this place from driving by when I lived in Bucktown, so I stopped in. I wasn't expecting much, but I was in the area and thought what the hell, I'm here. I did get there late in the day so it couldn't be too much before closing. I got a quick friendly greeting, and was shown a couple of options for my very specific request. One did fit the bill, and it was on sale they were getting rid of the model, so the price was down from 500+ to 250. I was given the choice of a brand new one in the box, however I chose the one on the floor to avoid having to assemble it at home. The three words I hate the most is, "some assembly required" I don't need another thing to do. The bike is basic, but solid and portable, they loaded it up in the back of my SUV and off I went. When I got home it was easy to unload, fits very well in the family room and isn't the first thing you see when you enter the room. It is exactly what I was looking for and at a price that I can live with. Ironically, it works very well too, I thought that I'd be keeping it only temporarily, but since it works so well I'll put it in the exercise room when the time comes. I would recommend anyone to take a look here if shopping for equipment, they have a wide range from basic to pro, and it was a no hassle experience. read more

Very solid prices and selection, very weak customer service. I went in and bought a spin bike from them 3 weeks ago. When I purchased it I was told that it was at their suburban warehouse and that I would have to wait 3 days until Wednesday, or 10 days until the next Wednesday. Well, that Wednesday has passed and they still don't have it. I was told that the truck was full and that they have to wait another week. Another week? This is after I have called them twice and have had to wait for them to call be back for an answer. Good luck getting someone to fulfill the order for you. read more

Went here to prospect weight plates. Came out shortly after very satisfied. You will want to note that Fitness Factory is a Body Solid dealer, and most (perhaps all) of their stuff is Body Solid brand. You won't find Ivanko or York stuff here. That said, I was find with that -- Body Solid is a very decent manufacturer, in my opinion better than CAP or TKO. You may think that brand does not matter for heavy objects, but they definitely do -- the cheaper brands are known to offer weights that are slightly inaccurate. The plates I bought here were significantly cheaper than options I was considering on the Internet. I will also go the store again just for the pleasure of speaking with Charles. Incredibly polite and patient guy who will humor any of your questions and provide some pleasant conversation, to boot. This time, for once, don't buy off the Internet. read more

My transaction with Fitness Factory via Amazon was HORRIFIC. I placed the order on May 6th. On May 8th, I received an email from Amazon saying that the seller had shipped the order and that it would arrive between May 13th and May 16th. On May 20th, I contacted the seller. They told me they had sent me an email to confirm my shipping details and were waiting on my response to ship the product and that it would be another 7-12 days before I received it. I checked my spam folder, trash, every crevice of my email and I swear on my children's' lives that they did not contact me. Moreover, I didn't receive a phone call or contact via any other communication method either. I would love to know why they didn't try to make more attempts to contact me. To make matters worse, their customer service agent was completely non-apologetic and didn't seem to care one bit about my poor experience. He blamed everything on me because "[I] didn't receive the email", however in actuality, THEY never sent it. No offer was made to compensate me for the inconvenience or provide expedited shipping to get it to me quicker. They couldn't have cared less. So, I asked for a refund and they obliged. Don't waste your time with these guys. read more

I had a really good experience here. While I'm not a gym "newbie", I've never purchased my own equipment before. I've always just gone to the gym and used the equipment on hand. However, I recently hired a personal trainer to come to my home and he suggested that I buy a few basics for our workout (a mat and some dumbbells). The man there (the owner) was very knowledgeable and helped me with everything. It's a cool place. They have a great selection. When I'm done with my training sessions and on my own, I will go back to purchase additional equipment so I can keep challenging myself while doing my own routines! read more

I usually go to the Chicago location. Lenny the old manger was awesome when he was there! The warranty they offer isn't what they stand by. Spin bikes I have bought for years are suppose to have 3yr warranty on parts. The pedals are super cheap that they go bad in 2months. When you call them for a replacement. They give you a hard time! Last time I called in they send me 1 pedal. They always send a pair until the most recent. Slam balls are okay even though they don't really last to "slam" them. The wall balls, came egg shaped. I asked about the shape and said they will round out. At least a year later they remained egg shaped and they leak sand from inside. This is odd! Now I'm selective on what I buy here because some stuff is so generically made. Like the benches I bought previously that rather not touch details. I try to support this brick and mortar place because I support local. Online is much more convenient but this place needs to stand by their products and warranties better and/or better Quality Management. Doesn't matter if it's made in China or Pakistan. I have spent Tens of Thousands of dollars and at least they should recognize it without a monotonous corporate response. read more
