Great experience here as I wasn't 100% informative on what type of roof top to get but the great folks here made sure to be helpful to point me in the right direction. What also helped was showing me how to install the box on top of my Acura RDX. BTW, I ended up with a Thule XT XL roof box! I will recommend this business to other who may be looking to add these type of accessories to their car!

The employee I spoke with was generally pretty helpful, and wasn't unfriendly, though didn't seem quite as confident as I would have liked when I'm talking with a salesperson for (to me) high priced items. I knew exactly which rack I wanted for my e-bike, so that part was easy. But I also need a hitch/receiver installed in which to attach the rack. He at first thought that I was going to need a hitch that was ~$300 more than what I expected because he hadn't looked at the full range of options needed for my vehicle and the rack I wanted to purchase. Luckily, when he was showing them to me, he looked again and checked all the options and found the less expensive version (I don't a fancy hitch!). I also was a little surprised that I had to pay for the entire purchase up front (the item I have is backordered, which I actually knew and told him it almost certainly would be)--that's because when I called a couple months ago to inquire about getting the installation I thought I was told that a deposit would be necessary with the balance due at arrival/installation. But it's ok, I paid the full amount... but then got a call a few minutes later (I wasn't yet out of the parking lot) that they couldn't do the hitch installation because it required a different sort of electrical installation than they're prepared to do there. So they ended up voiding the transaction since I'd paid for the hitch and rack together. I did stop in a third time (again, just had gotten into the car) to ask precisely what I need to have with the hitch installation. Since I now have to do the hitch installation independently, I wanted to make sure I relay exactly the correct information so there's no nasty surprises if I choose to re-place my order here for the rack itself. Although I will be looking around to see if there's somewhere that might be able to do all of it together, it's more likely I will end up going here to purchase a rack and have it installed, and although I'm disappointed the whole thing can't be done here I would recommend it to others.

Used Rack Attack 2 years ago just to acquire a fat cat 6 and was a smooth process. Used Rack Attack yesterday to have them install a whole Yakima set up on my BMW 5 series. Turned out GREAT! The staff is really awesome, friendly, and know exactly what they are doing. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

Purchased a Thule Force XT L and rack rails for 2016 Ford Explorer. After the sale but before the install, I was alerted to the fact the the unit was out of stock, but they would honor the deal and sell me the Force XT XL for the same price. Install was about a week after sale and took ~2 hours. Just used the cargo case to drive from Evanston to the SouthEast with 5 people + dog and it worked excellently. Easy to use, and great durability. Glad I worked with Rack Attack vs installing myself as the staff there showed my how to easily install and remove the case and rails. Super easy!

Great experience, shout out to sales guy Giovanni who was so helpful and nice to chat with plus he did a super install/tutorial for a Yakima basket on our Kia Telluride. Great customer service 10/10 would recommend!

Absolutely amazing experience with Jacob at Rack Attack. He was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I purchased a Thule Motion XT XL Cargo Box, Wingbar Evo, and Raised Rail Evo. Though it is far from home, I will definitely return here for anything else I need!

Will and Kohl are super knowledgeable, patient and helpful in what can be a confusing process if you get sucked into the reddit vortex of hitch tongue weights and "best" bike racks. In addition, next level with communication over phone and email. I bought a hitch, platform bike rack, roof rails and rooftop bike carrier through them and the install job was top notch on all of it. Better prices than big box and better install jobs than places like Uhaul. Super happy with everything and I know based on the communication that they will stand by the products or help with the manufacturers if there's ever an issue. Good luck to them as they ramp up this new location.

Great in store service. Had an older Thule rack. Team was great in updating with new locks and missing parts.

I got a number of responses and a lot of them were things I didn't even think I would need but found extremely useful. I haven't done a half marathon in almost 10 years and I forgot how important it was to properly fuel myself for endurance runs. These days nutrition and electrolyte tabs aren't cutting it for me anymore. I don't want to hit a wall once I start hitting the 8-10 mile marker so energy gels have been helping me push through with ease and REI has plenty of them. They mostly carry the GU brand and HoneyStinger. I've been trying out flavors and found a couple that I like. REI despite their items being on the pricier side have great selection and quality gear. I was able to get everything I needed in prep for race day. I didn't encounter any issues with staff. It felt more like, "We'll leave you alone unless you need something." I'm totally fine with that. It's an upscale comprehensive sporting goods store with a good amount of items in stock. I was actually impressed with the women's shoe selection. They had more HOKAs in stock compared to Road Runner Sports in Wilmette. I know I could've easily gotten HOKAs online but I'm the type (especially when it comes to apparel and shoes) to want to test items out in person for fit. Had I known they had better availability with more colors in stock, I would've bought my shoes here. REI is granola and you'll need to bring your own bag to shop. They are officially bagless and no longer provide single-use shopping bags at checkout. Parking is easy since it's nestled within a strip mall. I was able to get a spot in front with no issues.

This place is huge and they have a massive inventory of all things sports related. It's nice that you can still walk into a place and touch and feel the merchandise you might be interested in. On this visit, it was to look for a youth softball mitt that I will be gifting to one of the grand-darlings. The last time I was in a DICK's, it was to buy a White Sox cap and it was a couple years back when they were doing a wee bit better than they are this year! The pricing here does generally seem a bit elevated but that comes with the brick-and mortar business and the privilege of inspecting what you're buying. Who remembers Sportsmart, or Sports Authority, or further back Herman's? They're all gone now, and I think DICK's is it these days for sporting goods. I'm glad they are still at it for us.

Returns with the receipt or the app are very quick. There's usually always someone available on the floor that is willing to assist. Sometimes you can find a good deal in store and lately there have been better deals on shoes (Hokas, Nikes) then I've seen in other stores. I wanted to give a special shout out to the 'heavy lifting' crew that helped me with moving a ping pong table. They attempted to place it in my van every which way in the freezing cold, which was unfortunately too small. I came back the following day and a couple of the guys did remember me quickly brought out the table, and they were very friendly and extremely helpful.

The repair team at Erik's managed to find the tiny piece of glass that made me 30 minutes late for work embedded in my back tire's inner tube. They replace it, filled up my tires and I swear my bike rides better than it did before. A totally clean, professional job--hopefully I never need to come in for a flat tire again, but if YOU need one, Erik's is the place! Now my one...kinda tiny but not tiny gripe is that Erik's has absolutely no bike racks outside. It feels a little unfathomable that a bike (and skate etc) shop doesn't have any bike racks? I've come to Erik's on my bike before to get some accessories and I recall very well how flabbergasted I was. You might think those red bicycle sculptures right outside are bike racks. If they are, they are terribly constructed. You cannot roll your bike up to the "racks", you have to lift it up the concrete steps. If there are cars parked in front of them, this becomes way more difficult. The gaps in the sculpture aren't intuitive for looping locks through. So, no, I don't consider these bike racks. Erik's is a wonderful, wonderful bike and board and accessory shop--please put just a regular old bike rack in the lot!
