Are you like me - needing to seriously improve your fitness/health level, but unable to follow an at-home exercise program long enough to see any positive results? If so, I recommend trying Fitness Together in Central Georgetown (FT), because they've been instrumental in helping me make notable progress towards achieving my fitness goals. FT provides outstanding personal trainers and nutritional consultation in a private setting. Initially, I tried-out FT using a coupon for 3 personal training sessions. After just two, 45-minute sessions, I felt noticeably better/energized, and signed-up for additional sessions. FT assessed my baseline fitness level and then developed a plan specifically for my fitness goals. FT's competent personal trainers (shout-outs to Roya, Kristina, Enrico, Ryan, and especially Kelly, my primary fitness sensei!), always ensure I'm using the proper form for each exercise routine to gain the maximize benefit and avoid injuries. They also monitor my progress each session, perform an assessment every 6-weeks, and then modify/focus my fitness program accordingly. Before going to FT, I had a genuine aversion to physical exercise, but knew exercise is inherently needed for physical fitness. FT's combination of knowledgeable, personable personal-trainers and client-specific fitness and nutrition plans have proven to be beneficial for me. Full Disclosure: While I do leave each session sweaty and a little bit sore, it's well worth it, because the plan FT developed for me is producing both visible and measurable results. Furthermore, the countless excuses I often used to avoid exercising have been erased by the incremental successes which motivate me to continue pursuing my fitness goals. In other words, for me, 97% of the fitness battle is knowing what physical exercises to do, and then actually doing them. The positive results I have achieved since joining FT have created an inertia motivating me to continue working-out at FT twice a week. I can honestly say that 97% of my fitness level improvement is attributable solely to FT's professional trainers, because without their guidance, attention to injury prevention, and occasional "you can do it" nudge, I would have given up long ago. read more

I came to Fitness Together after recovering from a neck injury I suffered at the hands of a personal trainer in Rockville. I was nervous to get back to working out with a new trainer but I can honestly say it is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Thanks to Stacy I not only have achieved results I did not think were possible, but more importantly I have the confidence and awareness I need to work out without fear of injury. Stacy is patient, deeply knowledgeable yet able to instruct anyone at any level, and genuinely gifted at the art of making bodies look good. She has an eye for form and has developed a method that all of her trainers use because it works. Bottom line--I would recommend Fitness Together Central Georgetown to anyone. For those who want a little bit more detail about the space and staff: When I walked in the door I was immediately impressed by the clean and comfortable atmosphere. It is hands down the cleanest gym I have even been to. The layout of the space creates a welcome sense of privacy and each station is fully equipped so there is no waiting for equipment. The bathrooms are private--no locker rooms--which is a very nice touch. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. They keep their clients motivated and it's plain to see that they want to see us succeed. They are responsive and dedicated to the highest level of customer service. There are a lot of reasons I can come up with to put off working out. I have found recently that there are fewer and fewer ones that I actually use and I think that has a lot to do with Kelly, Stacy, Ryan, Roya and Kristina. My main trainer is Kelly. And Kelly is AWESOME!! She varies my workouts and makes sure that every session brings something new. She has give me a variety of ways to amp up my training. When I went to add more sessions over the summer, Kelly suggested trying yoga with Ryan. And because I trust her implicitly I said sure and in came Ryan to my training. It's been a wonderful addition to the weights and boxing. Stacy, well, Stacy is there to guide, reassure, support, and laugh. Yes, one on one training comes with a price tag, but it is a very manageable one. And it is an investment. But more than anything else, I want to share that I came to the studio after a deeply significant loss and the one thing that I truly appreciated was that the staff were there to take care of my whole being. Whether I walked in angry or sad, or happy or proud they supported me when I was down and celebrated with me when I was up. It's because of this that I find it harder and harder to come up with a reason to put off my workouts. And dare I say it....I actually look forward to them! Highly highly recommend!!! read more

Like everyone else who has reviewed, I can't say enough good things about my Fitness Together experience - I'm so grateful for this gym. I initially found Fitness Together after spending about six months in physical therapy for my back. I had seen a bunch of different doctors - no one was able to help. My goal in signing up for Fitness Together was simply to be able to exercise without pain - I hadn't been able to do anything for the longest time, and I felt terrible. Off the bat, my experience was great. I mostly worked with Candace - she was phenomenal and super patient in walking me through all of the exercises. Whenever I told her that something hurt, she'd work through adjustments with me until we found a way for me to do the exercise in a way that felt comfortable. Over the course of my 24 sessions, I built up so much muscle that my back pain actually started to go away overall - it was incredible. All of this was happening leading up to my wedding, and a huge added bonus was the change in my body - I felt amazing on my wedding day (and didn't have back pain!). Stacy was great at checking in along the way to make sure that everything was going well. Fitness Together was a big monetary investment for me, but it was worth every penny. I am a 78 year old woman who joined FT 10 months ago. 20 months ago I had had hip replacement surgery and then a complication that kept me using a walker for 6 weeks. This past March I went on a trip to Patagonia. It's a trip I had wanted to go on for several years but never felt in good enough shape. The first day I asked the tour leader what level of hikes he thought I should do. He suggested I try the easy one first and see how I do. Well I didn't do the easy one and after that first hike he and the rest of the group were calling me "the mountain goat" and asked me what I did to keep in such good shape. This week I went to my internist for my annual physical and he took me off my low dose of blood pressure medication saying my exercising was working better than medication. After being a client for three years, the FTCG team has helped me totally repair and strengthen both my body and mind after a very serious illness. I have never experienced professionals with such extensive knowledge about rebuilding and strengthening the body, even given other health-related issues and vulnerabilities (my muscles were totally atrophied for two years!) Stacy Adams and her amazing staff at Fitness Together - Central Georgetown are the best in the DC Area! For those that think that they cannot afford One on One Personal Training this is simply not true and the results are amazing! I competed in the Mrs. DC America Pageant in 2014 and while I looked good then since I have been working with Stacy and her staff I have noticed a huge difference that took me from Good to WOW! This place is awesome. If you're looking for personalized training, then this is the place for you. They do one on one as well as small group training (4 people or less). They will customize a training for you, even if you are having any problems (lower back, etc.), which is really helpful in making me want to continue working out. The place is small, but they make good use of it. They do have a nice shower and changing area. They also offer complimentary water, fruit and towels. The trainers are great as well. If you like an intimate training studio where everybody knows your name, then this is the place for you. read more

They have incredible knowledge about not only personal physical fitness, but overall health issues which impact your ability to exercise and achieve fitness goals. Fitness Together in Georgetown has worked with me and others to achieve fitness goals, and I cannot imagine working out elsewhere. This was amazing as we talked about foods that work for me and how the right foods work with my weight training/cardio! Fitness Together is a fantastic gym! The trainers are so knowledgeable and friendly. They also have a unique interval training machine called VASPER, which is unlike any workout machine I've ever used. It combines a cooling compression mechanism during a high intensity workout.
