They were all very knowledgeable and they fostered an encouraging and positive team environment tailored to all fitness levels. Every day was different so that kept the classes really interesting and time just flew by even though the workouts were tough! Cardio, weights, mobility - all in a fun and effective format. The gym goers each morning were also great to work out with, everyone was so positive and putting in their best effort even though it was 5am. I can't wait to return to Portland and attend again. The space was very clean, organized and had all the equipment you could want. I noticed a couple people were having personal training in the back half of the gym while the class was going on, so that looked like a great option too. Easy to park and there are cubbies to put your belonging in next to the workout space. I felt so welcome and already part of a team even though I was just a visitor there.

I had never done a circuit style workout before, so I was a bit nervous to go my first day. Upon arrival I was greeted with happy faces and lots of high fives! I was hooked. IMMEDIATELY you can feel the presence of the community and you can tell that everybody truly enjoys their time. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will meet you at your experience level. Never picked up a weight before? Perfect. They got you. Or maybe you have 20 years gym experience. Perfect. They will push you to reach the next level. Emily, Hayden, Sydney, Natalie, and Chelsea made my time especially special there. Never did I expect to make so many friends and be apart of such a strong community in just 6 months. I cannot emphasize enough how truly special this place is. Thank you, thank you, thank you Burn Beaverton! It would only be right if I ended this review with two claps on two! 12

That worked for a week now all of a sudden when I login the App says my membership doesn't exist even though I've paid for it!! What is going on? I've sent emails and voicemails and waiting for a call back, they should have customer service hours on the weekend. The app has some glitchy problems that don't seem to be addressed in a timely manner. I depend on these workouts and can't access them right now. Hopefully they will get it fixed soon. Terrible app!!!

I've never been a gym-goer of my own free will and…read moregenerally will make any excuse not to go - like I have a headache (even if I don't, but because I have the skills to to lie to myself and believe it, this works for me) or 7-11 is having a sale on Snickers or I don't have gas in the car and don't have time to stop and get gas even if class doesn't start for 3 hours. You get the point. Anyway, Urban Recess is the lone exception in my long list of work out failures. I actually look forward to going. There are a few things that make a difference to me and might make a difference to you, too: 1. It's a class just for women, which means there's no perceived competition or judgement or worrying about how red, sweaty, and generally unglamourous I look, because the women there don't care. Ages and fitness levels vary, so there's no reason to assume that you can't go and have a good time and get results if you're not a 20 year old cross-fit/marathon veteran. 2. It's a welcoming environment. I'm shy and can be intimidated pretty easily, so even after just 5 classes, I feel like I'm one of the "veterans", even though I still wobble around on the little balanacing disc thing and sometimes just lay on my mat and moan because I'm so out of shape. 3. It's fun! Yep, it's true. For 60 minutes you move from station to station and do specific movements/activities. It goes super fast, it's fun (how can you not love posing like Burt Reynold on the cover of Playgirl in his glory days and using weights to mimic being a flasher - don't ask me why, but these are two of my favorites). It's also a great workout, which is probably the most important part. So, short story, Karin the trainer is awesome. The class is fun. The girls are welcoming. Go try it!

So far I have improved my cardiovascular health, increased muscle/core strength and lost 15 lbs! Karin takes the time to help out the newbies and pushes us to be our best without injuring ourselves. I like the balance between a class and members that support you and keep you committed and having a personal trainer who will correct your moves and show you how to do the exercises correctly to avoid injury and get the most out of your moves. Plus the fitness tips during our cool down are great! Give it a try. $15 for drop in. $10 per class if you pay for the month. If you're looking for one on one training she does that too but you wont get that for $15 an hour with any personal trainer!

I needed someone to walk me through how to get the most out of the gym, to give me the confidence to pursue fitness on my own, and to keep me coming back every week. So far I've worked with both Khino and Nataliia who have enthusiastically given me everything I've wanted and more. They don't take a one-size-fits-all approach, and they understand my goals and what's important to me so that we can focus on that every session. I have always felt that I could ask them anything without feeling stupid or like I don't "belong" there. They are clearly experts at what they do but are very kind and welcoming to newbies like me. I end every session feeling tired but accomplished at having completed the workouts they designed for me. I can't recommend PPT strongly enough!
