I ordered us a side of yuca fries ($4) with guasacaca sauce ($0.50) for an appetizer. Yuca fries are pretty filling - we received 4 pieces in our order. My bf ordered a custom Venezuelan Bowl with chorizo sausage ($16) while I had the Caracas Sampler ($15). The sampler included two mini arepas (I got minis of the pabellon and the rumbera arepas - both meat heavy types), two tequenos, and two cachapas, corn cakes topped with a soft, melted Venezuelan white cheese. Surprisingly, my favorite of the trio were the tequenos, basically fried mozzarella sticks wrapped in what tasted like Pillsbury croissant dough! Yummy yummy! Five stars all around for our great waiter, great food, and great prices! Our total bill after tax and tip was a little over $45. I didn't see a credit card fee on the bill, just fyi. If you crave ethnic food in the South Bend area, absolutely come here! Or if you crave instant diabetes, get a crazy milkshake! We saw quite a few people ordering those during our visit here. The cold cheese seemed odd in a hot sandwich and it wasn't that good. The chorizo was not actual chorizo. Personally I really dislike over easy eggs...so that arepa was barely nibbled. So overall just disappointing. Frankly, making mistakes like this is a choice and not a good one.
