My fiancé and I ordered flowers to be delivered to my mom on Mother's Day. I completely forgot to tell my mom to be home to accept the delivery, and so she wasn't home when it arrived. The delivery person very kindly called me. I was worried about him leaving it at the door, so he brought it back to the shop and my dad picked up the flowers later that day. It worked out perfectly. I really appreciate their flexibility and communication, rather than just leaving the flowers somewhere where they could be taken. The flowers themselves are absolutely beautiful. A really didn't think florists like this still existed, but as usual, Oak Park continues to surprise me. This is a splendid floral boutique that specializes in small and large arrangements, prom/wedding flowers, or just a couple or daisies for your partner. I stopped in to just get a bunch of poms, and left with a staggeringly beautiful and customized arrangement (that was balanced with sweet-swelling eucalyptus). And it only cost $25, but looks like a work of art. Will be coming back again and again. Stop buying flowers at the grocery store! read more

Garland has been my go to florist for years and has never disappointed us. Until today. What was to be a little nicer than usual bouquet for our anniversary for $100 (with tax and delivery to be fair, $75 to start) ended up being an adorable 9 x 12 arrangement not the 16 x 16 arrangement advertised. A good rule of thumb is when you advertise 16 x 16, make it slightly bigger and exceed your repeat customer's expectations. Not the end of the world. Just flowers. $100 should result in something more than "awww, it's adorable!" I was hoping for "wow! It's gorgeous." Update: I left a message after they had closed that I was disappointed. Got a return call from the owner the next day and a new and improved bouquet on our doorstep. This is why I shop locally. read more

We used Garland Flowers for my son's wedding May 19,2012. Therese was very easy to work with and met with us as needed. Since we weren't quite sure what we wanted, she took the time to show us photos from other weddings. We picked a few we liked and she immediately walked around her shop and created a "sample" bouquet. My future daughter-in-law worked to Therese, discussing flowers and colors she liked, using the bouquet as inspiration. We then discussed the budget - and believe me our budget was very small. But with all that, we were done. Not sure exactly what we were getting, we still felt confident Therese would give us something spectacular. On the day of the wedding, Nato and all, our flowers were delived at the scheduled time. When we opened the box and saw the bouquets we were "WOWED". She totally got what the bride wanted. What a gem hidden just south of the oak park avenue and south blvd intersection. Just picked up a boutonnière and matching blooms my daughter's hair for homecoming. Ordered in person on Thursday with such a charming and helpful lady. Treated me like I was a personal friend. When we picked up today, Saturday, we asked if they could make the matching flowers for her hair and they said absolutely no problem. Very pretty and just perfect for the dance. I was really disappointed, with the delivery and the customer service. I placed an order on Friday for a Saturday delivery. The flowers were delivered on Tuesday. There was a specific reason I wanted the flowers delivered on Saturday -- I was told that a delivery attempt was made, but no one was home. Fair enough. But, the logical follow-up would have been to call me and let me know there was a delay & then give me an option of having the flowers delivered without a signature. Buyer beware. There is a counter person who listens to your ideas takes notes agrees to the floral design and selected flowers. When you return to pick up arrangement the florist has not honored the agreement, flowers are missing and when asked to have the agreed flowers installed, the florist has the nerve to ask if the budget has increase- never mind they had already collected payment at the time the order was made. There are limited choices for a florist in Oak Park but this is one that should be avoided unless you welcome bait and switch. The owner did apologize for the staff's behavior which is notable but for the money you might want a more consumer friendly choice. read more

Huge disappointment! For $30, I got 2 sleeves of tulips, a vase and treated BADLY! I noticed the "OPEN" sign on the store front and rather than going to Jewel for flowers to take to a patient at Oak Park Hospital, I stopped in there. I assumed I would walk out with a presentable floral arrangement to take to the hospital. What I got was 2 sleeves of tulips and an empty glass vase. Water, initially, was not included! I got some water in the vase when I said "am I supposed to fill the vase in the hospital bathroom?" to which the not so nice lady replied "good idea". Reluctantly and with attitude, she put water in the vase but there, on the counter, I arranged the tulips in the vase. Never offered me a card or a ribbon a pair of scissors to trim the tulips or even thanked me for my purchase. The arrangement looked pitiful. HORRIBLE! Never, ever, again! read more
