I am a long time customer but since this place last changed hands I will no longer come here. Very high prices for a run down restaurant with mediocre food. This place is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's an old school restaurant where the food is a bit greasy but home style cooking that's pretty good. We got the chili cheese dogs with fries and the meatloaf sandwich stuffed with mashed potatoes. Both menu items were pretty tasty and the waitress said those were their most popular menu items. The place was a bit grungy but I guess that's what happens when a place is open 24/7. It's worth a try but probably not high on my list of places to come back to. read more

Love this place! Happened to discover it with my partner by chance, but it's a regular stop for us now, even a bit out of the way for us. It's always a calm and friendly atmosphere, with retro decor and mostly older clientele. The seats are a bit worn, but to us, in a cozy way. They have delicious and generous portions of breakfast and easy "American" food for fair prices. Our favorites are the biscuits and gravy (it comes with green onion) and the side salad, which is always very fresh with homemade ranch. read more

Good old fashioned diner with classics like chili dogs, meatloaf, country fried steak, etc. We went in on a Saturday evening and it wasn't busy, so we got good service. We tried the chili dogs and meatloaf sandwich. It's actual chili with meat and beans, not just a sauce, on the dogs. It had a little kick to it. The meatloaf was pretty plain but good, with mashed potatoes on the side and gravy all over everything. All in all, not bad, and they're open 24 hours, so if you're looking for food in the middle of the night, you have another option besides Waffle House! ;) read more

First at Fitzy's Old Fashioned Diner was this April 2022. I was sure the place would present itself as "down home" no bull business. Diner's of this class are more about food and less about presentation. To start, I ordered and ate the Fitzy's fried bologna sandwich with a side of fries. True to form, the meat was thick and well-grilled. The fries were piping hot. My order included a slab of cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and a side of Mayo. Supremely delicious plate of food for lunchtime. The time was 12 noon on a Monday and there was about 1/4 of the house filled with Fitzy's Fans. I will go through life believing Fitzy's Old Fashioned Diner has all the fixin's of a local place that leaves nothing to the imagination. Just damn good food. read more

I love the pancakes so much that I went back and got the same thing. However, the pancakes were not as good. The blueberries were whole, very big in the pancakes not like before where they had been chopped and the flavor just was not there I didn't eat all of the pancake, which is very rare for me, I was very disappointed. Just stopped in to get a pork tender loin sandwich, no longer on menu. No more hotdogs, meatloaf or patty melts., grilled cheese. No more diner food, it is now more of a cafe for a different crowd. Prices are not for this neighborhood. Delaney's diner on Westerville Rd, does offer pork tenderloin sandwich it is the same wonderful size as fitzy's used to serve. Not as good as fitzy's but good. I wish the new owner the best I may try it again another time. But I did not really see any sandwich that I would want to pay $12.99 for. Not into avocados on my sandwich. read more

Not a 5-star establishment. But I wouldn't like it if it were trying to be in this area. I don't want to set a false expectation with you that when you arrive, the stars will align for your dining pleasure. We chose this place because we hate Bob Evans and their generic, flavorless food. All the other places around us are scary or coating their food in grease. The location is over-looked unless you are looking for it. The neighborhood is kinda out of the way unless you are a local to this area as an employee of the brewery, lab, or surrounding offices. It is located in a small strip shopping center housed on the corner next to other shops that are local to the community also partially behind a PNC turned Nail salon kiosk shop in front. The clientele were few when we got there. Due to us being the youngest customers at the time of day we arrived this could be due, in part, to we arrived before the early dinner rush of the elderly who come here for the memories and the food. The ambiance is supposed to be of 50's diner, but is more still clearly converted space from another business that preceded it. The music is 50's era, and they still set up the tables and simple booths in the space as any other small diner. When you walk in the grill is behind the counter on the left and we were told to sit anywhere we liked. We chose the window seat which, if it is a hot sunny day, I don't recommend if your or your dinning partner aren't into feeling like you are still out in the sun. Our fault, though. We always sit near windows. The food was delicious despite the look of this place. The food isn't the best you'll ever have from a diner, but it will be the closest to homemade. My girlfriend, who is the pickiest of eaters, didn't even complain about the eggs. The first thing she noticed was that they made her eggs right. They serve breakfast all day and there is a dinner menu. We went with breakfast because I was craving pancakes after a medical fast. Pancakes aren't really my thing but , as the saying goes, "...the heart wants what the heart wants." This also goes for an empty stomach as well. So, I got the French Toast. When I asked our very pleasant and patient server, decked out in her "Fitz's Diner" branded tee, what she thought was more exciting, she considered it and recommended the French Toast. It was a good choice. French Toast Bacon Home fries Scrambled eggs The French Toast was covered in a moderate dusting of powdered sugar and, I'll be honest, I can't describe much more of it besides it tasted GREAT! I was so hungry it didn't make it through rigorous scrutiny. The bacon and home fries, I did notice, was not covered in grease. Which was a delight to go to a place not covering their food in a layer of grease for flavor! Unlike some other big name restaurants in the area that believe grease is a flavor additive and menu item. The home fries were what I can only assume actual partially flattened sections of real potato cuttings- not frozen prepacked garbage like what you pay extra for and can buy from a store freezer. I will add this: Due to the age of the other customers, and this is not a criticism, I think the diner doesn't heavily season the food, if at all. So that may also be appealing to many, especially those who have experienced the grease and salt flavor assault at places that try to make homemade diner-style food. There is salt at the table but the food arrived pretty much in its natural cooked state. I liked having that choice of to add salt or not to my eggs and potato. I will be back now that I know this place is here and close by. For those who know the area, I will let you know it really looks like the businesses in this area are working hard to improve the area. Ten years ago there was a crappy bar over here that made you not want to park your car after dark. There is now a new Family Dollar, and the Dairy Queen is popular as ever on a hot day. But for sit down food this place will keep you coming back if the customers I saw coming in to order are any indication. I like diners. When I travel, those are sometimes the best places to find. Well I z wanted breakfast food and it was late in the afternoon. My choices were limited. Beechwald diner had just closed and Howdy's was closed so I went with First's as my back up backup plan because it's close to me. Plus I want to support local businesses. This place has never been great on ambiance but it is kinda sad. They have new owners and they are only open until 4 every day. I got in just under 4 and the waitress looked really depressed. I almost left but I stayed. The food was good and inflation has hit everyone so you pay more for everything these days. I just don't know how long they are going to be around to be honest. read more

My dad's always taken me here growing up as it's right across the street from my neighborhood. Their food's very affordable and they serve big hearty portions. Great for any time of day. Lately I went there paying for my own meal, my boyfriend and I agreeing that their drink prices are rather high, a glass of soda being upwards to 3 dollars, a 2 liter of the same drink being 2 bucks at the store a 3 minute walk away. These prices not being listed on the menu will leave you a bit puzzled looking at the check for a second. If you are a "DIVE" seeker, this should be your very first stop. Walked in and was greeted by a voice from who knows where, "TAKE A SEAT WHEREVER YOU WANT". This place appears to be stuck in time for maybe 25 years or more. The tables need and appear to have needed refinished maybe 5 years ago. The booth cushions and back need to either have the covers replaced or at least replace the duct tape that is holding them together. All my wife could say was, "I HAVE BEEN THERE". But the food definitely does not belong in this environment. The food I had was perfect. I found this place on yelp and I give it a solid 5 stars. Rachel was my server and was very friendly and attentive and even offered me a coffee to go when I was finished. I had the works omelet with home fries and wheat toast. The omelet was excellent with fresh ingredients and was huge! The home fries were cooked perfectly to my liking without me even having to ask and the wheat toast was not over toasted. Everything came out perfect and hot. Oh and the coffee was excellent two. This is really bumming me out!!! This is from a message I sent to a friend a few minutes ago, he and I have been loyal Fitzy's customers for a couple decades! Wow, remind me to never go to dinner at Fitzy's again. I ask for a plain old ordinary cheeseburger with onion rings and coleslaw. So, no coleslaw, so I asked for applesauce. So I get a cheeseburger with fries. Told her I ordered onion rings. She takes the plate, comes back with the burger, which is now lukewarm, no pickles, no onions, no lettuce or tomato. The cheese has melted and now it's dried out. The burger is equally dry and full of gristle. The onion rings were fresh and hot, all SIX of them. Add in a rootbeer, total, $18.12 !!! There are few diners in Columbus. Nancy's is way better than this, but this place will do if you want a place that's reliably open. The decor is nostalgic. Lots of pictures of Marilyn Monroe. The menu is fun to read, and definitely straightforward. I walked in and was hungry for chicken fried steak, and was disappointed to not find it. I went with an omelette. It was good, but I make a better one for myself. The home fries were perfect though. Our waitress was great and my son loved his pancakes. Boyfriend and I each ordered pancakes, home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon for me and sausage steak for him, and small sausage gravy for boyfriend.. Son ordered the steak omelet with home fries. We all loved our food. The bacon was tasty and the pancakes were addictive and I could not stop eating them! Son had orange juice and boyfriend and I had coffee which was really good also. For all that our breakfast was around $45. Coffee was $2.09 which was a little higher in price and orange juice was $3 per serving. We will be back because best part is....they are open 24/7! A group of my friends would twist my arm into going here for a few months weekly, and it never got better. This place is the poster child for dives - seriously! In a strip mall, loaded with regulars hunched over their fave dish, tables with names carved in them and seriously torn up seating - it's a dive! But the food is reasonably priced and not too bad. Didn't like the hash that much (my dish by which I judge all diners) it was too salty but the french toast was some kinda tasty with a hint of cinnamon and they cooked my bacon the way I like it, cooked not still looking semi-raw. Fitzy's offers up a solid breakfast experience, with the added 24 hour convenience. It has all of the charm of a lived-in, 50s style diner (i.e. booths with well worn cushions, checker board floors, and Marilyn and Elvis looking at you from nearly every inch of the walls). Service is always friendly, but sometimes spotty on attentiveness. Preparing your breakfast basics isn't rocket science. There are only so many ways to scramble an egg and toast bread. While Fitzy's potatoes are pretty good, they do not serve the shredded hash browns that I so love *sigh* - an automatic one star deduction. They do serve up manhole cover sized pancakes (and they've named them accordingly). I've had five star experiences at Fitzy's, but I've also had two star experiences. The difference? Well, it's all in the daily special. Since traditional breakfast foods are mundane and easy to prepare, you really have to wow me with an interesting menu, or at least a special that is out of the norm. I've been to Fitzy's when the special was an amazing, ginormous breakfast burrito with some awesome chorizo. I've also been to Fitzy's when the special was forgettable (hey, if I remembered what it was, I would've said so). Fitzy's menu consists of your diner basics. They're all made very well, but don't add up to an amazing culinary experience - for that, you'll need to hit it on a very good special day, which are few and far between.
