I've been wanting to go to Jazz Brunch but I guess today wasn't the day!! And sad to say will be the last day We came to Five, was seated real quickly in the back where the kids study.. I immediately got irritated people came in after us and was not seated back there. I even heard a family standing in the door way next to us talk about it was going to be a 30 to 45 minute wait for them even though it was several tables behind us. Sad to say this visit felt very discriminating & I don't have to go to no place I'm not welcomed..

Great new menu item! Not sure if it's just seasonal or here to stay but it's delicious!

The flank steak here is surprisingly tender and packed with flavor. The chimichurri sauce on top adds a fresh and tangy contrast. The roasted sweet potatoes on the side are a nice change from the usual fries. Everything came together beautifully.

When you roll through Tuscaloosa make sure you hit FIVE BAR... Name comes from only 5 entree items on the menu whether it be brunch or dinner. Nice cocktail list, exceptional service in a laid back clean relaxed environment. We dropped in for brunch I started with a cup of fresh coffee and the beignets... entree was the grilled shrimp and grits, which have the right amount of ghost peppers and goat cheese! Highly recommended!

Easy-peasy ordering with such a limited menu.

Five Bar. I get it. There are just 5 entrees each night for dinner and it also has a beautiful historic bar. It's spacious and wide open inside the historic building. The bartender, Matt, was on point in keeping our adult beverages full. There is an incredible collection of hand painted pop-type art paintings on every wall. The food was very good and prepared in a small kitchen. The wait service did a good job taking care of us as the place got increasingly busy on a Saturday night.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to go because of the "limited" menu of 5 entrees BUT definitely happy we went!! Our server was polite and attentive! The music was straight off our own playlist! Definitely recommend!

Have been here a few times. The food is always good and so is the vibe. Tonight our waitress was great and very attentive. Their menu is small but what they do have is very good. I definitely recommend this place.

Come on who doesn't love chicken and waffles? Especially when the chicken is crispy and well seasoned and the waffle is fluffy and served with pecans on top. Certainly I loved it. It is a bar making the Bloody Mary bar, included pickled okra, a nice touch.

Good dinner! Had brunch here twice and not as impressive. Had breakfast burrito- would have loved a nice kick to this but pretty bland!

Scrambled eggs with o ions, red potatoes coneca sausage, bacon, on top of house mayonnaise, topped with fried oysters and jalapeño. Perfectly pouched eggs on top of a fluffy biscuit smothered with sausage gravy. Tasty! Try something new and you will be pleasantly surprised! If you're visiting university of Alabama this is a must stop for breakfast. The servers are nice and knowledgeable of the food . The inside has an upstairs and downstairs. Roll tide! It was busy this morning, as it was a Sunday, but we were seated quickly and waited on promptly. This is a massive location. A lot of seats and a lot of people working. Food was good. Highlight was the homemade jam which was so spectacular I wanted to dunk everything in it. Breakfast plate was good. I didn't get my eggs as ordered (asked for sunny side up and got scrambled) and I tried the smoked sausage, which is a meat option, but it wasn't very good quality sausage and possibly over smoked? I usually like smoked sausage and this wasn't it. Benny was very good and the biscuit was spectacular which, in Alabama, is an important thing. Will be back again, and will definitely think of taking visiting guests for breakfast here. A good addition to the lineup.

After 15 mins- we were told ANOTHER 10 mins... meanwhile, waiting the last 10 mins there were 4 tables sitting empty by the front where we were standing.. The blond girl at the front was very robotic, no smile, no greeting, seemed annoyed to be there. You couldn't hear her calling the party's names. Not the person you want as the first representative of your establishment. When she finally called us and brought us to the table, asked "how many in your party?" How can you not know? You JUST PAGED US! It's on the iPad in your hand! We said 5, she gave us 3 menus... seriously? The server was awesome and cheerful. The food was amazing. But again ... customer service. 2 plates came out, 5 mins later 2 more plates, 5 mins later the last plate. Why is our food not coming out all together? We ask for the check and get it promptly, but it took another 10 mins for her to come pick it up... Lots of room for improvement for the customer service end of it, and even though the food was absolutely delicious, it wasn't enough to outshine the poor initial impression with the lack of hostess skills and wait time.

But even though there is a lot of parking, there is also a lot of people, so snag a space if you see it and walk a few extra steps, if you can. There was a short wait when we arrived that was approximately 15 minutes. We opted to sit at a table outside. It was a sunny day, but could have been a bit warmer to enjoy outside more. The outside seating has a great view of a river, which is nice. Our serve was Alana and she was extraordinary! She was attentive, has great recommendations, is very witty and funny and has fantastic people skills! Looking around at the other table she was serving, they were equally as happy with her service. I ordered a southern scramble and a side of lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. Those pancakes stole the show. Everything tasted great but I didn't put much of a dent in the scramble as it is a good size portion and the pancakes deterred me from eating more! Lol! Overall wonderful experience and I would come back again!

We were able to order right away and sit down. They were out of a couple of items we wanted, but that was no big deal. The atmosphere was a dive restaurant with Crimson Tide memorabilia galore. The food came out very quickly. The food was standard. There was no "wow factor" about it. It didn't taste bad, but it just seemed basic. The hash browns could have been crispier, but they seemed as if they were cooked on a surface that wasn't quite hot enough. You may be asking yourself, hey dude, why the 4 stars? Well, here is why. You cannot beat the price for the amount of food you can get here. The Crimson Tide memorabilia here can't be matched. It covers all sports! It is also right outside the stadium. If you are a Crimson Tide fan, then this is a do not miss for you!

Still, we were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait. We waited about 35 minutes before seating. Make it make sense. That said, the restaurant sits right along the Black Warrior River, which offers a really pleasant view, especially from the patio. On a cool spring day like today, it's hard to beat outdoor seating here. Tuscaloosa is buzzing with football fans for the annual A-Day spring game, which adds to the energy around town. My better half ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the steak fajita bowl, minus the sunny-side-up egg. Even at my age, I can't do the runny yolk situation, I always ask for my eggs over hard. With that change, I'll say the fajita bowl jumped up to one of my top breakfast/brunch go-to dishes in town. Yes, I know it's technically brunch, but it was before 11 a.m., so I'm calling it breakfast. The shrimp and grits were solid, though the tails were still on the shrimp, which meant a bit of extra peeling at the table, my wife wasn't a fan of that part, but she still finished the dish and enjoyed it overall. Only minor gripe on the food side: ice seems to be a rare commodity here, I'd love a few more cubes in the water. But overall, the food was very good, the patio seating is absolutely the way to go, and the river view is fantastic.
