    A. Must. Great breakfast food in a vintage dive just outside of Bryant Denny Stadium. Bedecked with Alabama memorabilia, lined with game signed balls, and game day cubs, Rama Jama's serves up classic no frills breakfast that is delicious. I highly recommend the ham! Despite the long line, it moves fast and food comes out quicker. A++ Tuscaloosa establishment

It's a cult classic in Alabama lure. It's a great burger joint next to the Stadium and right off campus. Packed on game day with a line out the door, A great lunch spot during the week when passing thru or visiting the U of A. Parking can be challenging on busy days. While you wait one can take a gander at all the old media memorabilia and Alabama Football!

There for breakfast. The chicken biscuit was very good. Grits were very good. The prices were very good. All good. The $16 2-for-1 bottles of mimosa all day (including breakfast) is over the top. They are the heart of the Crimson Tide experience. When in Tuscaloosa it is worth the trip located right outside Bryant-Denny Stadium. May not be recommended on game day.

Sorry, but I wasn't impressed at all. The Hamburger was dry, the bun was dry and the fries were over fried. I know it was a game day, but with lines out the door from morning to sundown, I expected it to be fantastic. Maybe just an off day.

In the shadow of Bryant-denny Stadium sits this dinner. There is so much random Alabama memorabilia in here. Some of my favorites include a barstool from Joe Namath's restaurant, Nico Johnson's pads, and an orange and white flag, that should never be seen in Tuscaloosa, flying from a crane while renovating the stadium. It is always packed on Gameday but on a Tuesday, there was hardly anyone here. I had a burger with chili, crinkle cut fries, and Reese's milkshake. The milkshake was the star of the meal. It is made from real ice cream and I had them make it with chocolate. If I ever come back, that is what I am getting. The burger was a good ole fashioned burger. The buns were toasted and buttery. The patty was hand-made and fresh. The chili had a BBQ base to it. The fries were your average crinkle cut. Unfortunately, they serve that abomination known as Gold Peak Sweet Tea and not freshly brewed. This is a place to visit for the milkshake and the burger was pretty good. It was also pretty cheap. But the highlight of Rama Jama's is the random Alabama memorabilia everywhere. Definitely a place to visit if you are a Bama fan.

Worst ever place .. during game day.. stay away. Waste of time and money .. came for breakfast but got a burger .. expected bad but this hell.

This place is always wonderful and a very cool place if you are into sports memorabilia involving Alabama football. The food is always wonderful and comes out quickly with fantastic service! You can't beat the prices and getting to chat with the owner he might even show off his natty rings.

    Nice Bama vibe!

Tough to rate, the ambiance and the University of Alabama history was cool at this restaurant. The food was good and they specialize in breakfast and mimosas. Would love to come here when they weren't busy as the wait was close to 2 hours to wait in line and then get our food.

Incredible! Stopped by Tuscaloosa to see the stadium and had to stop here! The cheeseburgers were delicious! Definitely have to get everything on it! Glad we stopped in!!

But spring break week flipped the script in the best way possible. Tonight, my wife and I met up with some good friends for a pre-retirement dinner, and with the college crowd scattered to the beaches, downtown felt like it belonged to us "seasoned locals" again. No lines, no crowds--just a quick call ahead and we were seated within minutes. That alone felt like a win. We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. It came out hot and packed with flavor, carrying just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overwhelming the dish. Exactly how I like it. My wife stuck with a proven winner: the shrimp & grits. She's had it before, and once again, it delivered. Consistency matters, and this dish continues to hit the mark every time. Now, not everything was quite as smooth. Our waitress wasn't exactly channeling that warm Southern hospitality you hope for. Let's just say she wasn't "Miss Dolly" serving smiles with a side of charm. The service leaned a bit on the impatient side--subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints that our time at the table was up, including clearing drinks before we were even finished. At one point I joked about going to the restroom but worried I might come back to find my chair gone. Still, when the food is this good, it carries the experience. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to spring break timing, the food was as strong as ever, and the company made it even better. As for the service... maybe she was just ready for her own spring break reunion. Happens to the best of us. Final takeaway: Go for the food--it's consistently excellent. And if you can catch a quieter night like this one, even better.

Sorry don't mean to be a downer but wasn't good at all. The mashed and gravy a big nope. The potatoes weren't all that good. It was like eating a plat of spackle. And the gravy was horrendous. Made bad potato's worse. The meatloaf was ok. Kind of like cafeteria meatloaf. I did eat it but wasn't thrilled. Again not a fan of that bacon so ditched that after one bite. Spring mix is the wrong choice in lettuce as well. It turns into mush with the tomato. Nothing memorable. 3 - The Yardhouse, awkward. It was hard to eat with large chicken "cubes" and lots of white bbq sauce. Either keeping the chicken whole or using a shredded chicken would be better. 4 - Fries. 1 order would have been plenty to share among 3 people. They were the best part of the meal and came with a fry sauce. Another strike is that they don't brew their own tea. It's been a few years since my last visit, but back when I worked closer to downtown, this place was a weekly (sometimes twice-a-week) lunch ritual. Man, this spot is awesome for lunch! Now, if you try to come on a weekend--good luck. The place is packed to the gills, and the folks lined up outside aren't there for the turnip greens, if you catch my draft, I mean drift. They're here for the other "festivities"... the bar. But let's talk food. Whether you're circling your favorite meat and three combo or grabbing something off their regular menu, you can't go wrong. Their meat and three is like stepping straight into Granny's kitchen on a cool October Sunday afternoon. I went with the country fried steak, Caesar salad, fried okra, turnip greens, and--because I'm not a quitter--a helping of blackberry cobbler. Every bite was fantastic. My wife went with the fried catfish, paired with black-eyed peas, fried okra, and of course, the same irresistible blackberry cobbler to top it off. Her meal was every bit as delicious as mine (not that I didn't try to sneak a bite or two for quality assurance purposes). The background music today was a dose of pop, with Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am setting a nice, mellow vibe--pretty fitting for a lunch date with my wife. Soft and pleasant... though, if I'm being honest, I'd trade Ingrid for a little Metallica or any one of those glorious 80s hair bands in a heartbeat. Nothing says "meat and three" like a little Pour Some Sugar on Me, right? These days, a meal I used to enjoy weekly has become a rare treat, but today's visit reminded me why I loved it so much. The outdoor seating is perfect for a crisp fall or breezy spring day, TVs are plastered all around so you won't miss your favorite team (Roll Tide, of course), and there's even a pool table if you're feeling like hustling a game or two. The lunch staff is fast and friendly, and if you haven't experienced this Tuscaloosa gem, do yourself a favor and step inside for their lunch menu. Just maybe leave the late-night crowd to the younger folks--they've got more energy (and stronger eardrums) for that scene than I do!
