This was our first visit to Forte in Tuscaloosa, and I really wanted it to be love at first bite. The restaurant itself sets the mood perfectly -- clean, stylish, and with a bar area that practically waves you in for a drink before you can say "just water for me." The outdoor seating is a gem, especially on these cool October evenings when the humidity finally gives us a break. Dinner started off strong with a Caesar salad that hit all the right notes -- crisp, fresh, and flavorful. The croutons, though? Let's just say they could double as home defense. Then came my Mushroom Cream Pasta, rich and delicious in flavor, but the noodles were a bit too enthusiastic about staying firm -- more "al dente" than I ordered. My wife's Pan-Seared Salmon fared better -- flaky, well-seasoned, and politely reminding my pasta who's boss. The staff, to their credit, were wonderful -- friendly, attentive, and even comped my dish (which I insisted wasn't necessary). Despite tonight's hiccup, I'll be back. Start with the Forte Sunday! Had I known about that deliciousness I would have done that. The focaccia tapenade is an olive lovers dream, the salmon was cooked perfectly. I substituted the broccolini which was crisp and flavorful and the couscous was delicate and balanced all the flavors. Our server was knowledgeable but the manager stood out! We have been wanting to try Forte for awhile being out of town, and finally got the chance. Everything from the reservation process to getting the check was flawless. Their staff went above and beyond to take care of our party. Faith was our waitress; she was on the spot even though we were late and had somewhere to be after, she made sure it was a seamless timely process even for our group of 10. I love this hotel. It is an amazing atmosphere. Everything is so well decorated and so clean. The service is always on point. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food for breakfast was delicious. My only discouragement was paying four dollars for a cup of coffee when it was free and located at the bar for guest. Visiting Tuscaloosa for the first time, date night and birthday celebrations continue ...this was our 1st night dinner at our hotel. Service was great very attentive and accommodating when we asked to split the duck confit and the peppercorn steak. We were originally going to have their dry aged steaks but the refrigerators are not in house yet. Food was delicious, started with the escargot it was very good with the whole grain grits. All the other appz coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, wish I tried the French onion soup -maybe next time For the entree we ordered the duck confit - I just had to twist my boyfriend's arm to wait for it. And he was so glad we did. We had the peppercorn steak too... had to have some steak from this steak house! The meat was delicious but yes I know it's peppercorn but it was a lot of peppercorn... too much for me. For dessert everything is made in house and all desserts served with homemade ice cream. This place has gone down significantly. Went for work/Univeristy dinner last night and what a disgrace and lack of quality/flavor. The three of us ordered three unique entrees (seafood/shrimp, meatballs, and chicken) and not a single person liked or even finished their meals halfway. The shrimp pasta was drowning in butter, lacked flavor, or even salt. A disgrace in the name of "French inspired cuisine." Chipotle/Macdonald would be a better option. I think we are going to cross this place off of locations where we take our guests and out of state/city friends. Take them somewhere else. read more

Well we made reservations because the restaurant looked so nice and was adjacent to A very nice Hotel , but the old saying is true "don't judge a book by its cover" first the water that's served at the table is awful it has a metal taste to it (filter needed) and next we had two appetizers (best part of the meal ) one was the homemade bread and the other was a ball of rice fried with some spices in it , both were "ok" . Now for the star of the show ! the chicken Parmesan covered with cheese on a bed of noodles, the noodles were tough and overcooked and dry , the chicken was a joke , very thick and so overcooked I could hardly cut it , I forced to cut a small piece and chewed the one bite for what seemed like an hour, as I was chewing it I looked at my friends plate and her's was burnt as well . Ok at this point I'm not happy , at $30 bucks an order I was puzzled that no one ever thought about cutting a chicken breast in half and thinning it out with a meat mallet , then cooking it till done obviously, it's just a thick piece of chicken left in a deep fat fryer for 10 min too long and covered with sauce and cheese and put in an oven to-melt the cheese placed on bed of the most dried out noodles I've ever had , So I'm to believe that this fancy ass restaurant doesn't have anyone in the kitchen that knows basic cooking methods, and it's really not the fault of this poor guy who put this plate in the window , it's the management that failed to train him and really didn't know and or didn't give a damn . So when the very nice waitress came back and asked us how was everything I simply told her the two orders of chicken parmesan was visibly burnt ,the Caesar salad was bland and tasteless flank steak dish was awful as well so four of us left this beautiful restaurant feeling sorry for the owner for hiring a completely incompetent chef or kitchen manager To allow this shit to be served . A well ran " fancy ass" restaurant should have a person checking every dish before it goes out for service for quality and obviously burnt to hell and back chicken . So disappointed in this restaurant. We ate there a year ago and everything was superb. Last night two of us got the steak frites. The steak appeared to be baked/microwaved etc. When a steak comes off the grill it's juicy, smoking and just incredible. A year ago-this is what we were served. Last night-it was not fresh, over salted and I think it was reheated. The pasta was subpar and not fresh. Thank god-the wine was still great. This place will be slammed for the next 3 months but they have to keep the consistency up in off season. Forté used to be an amazing restaurant, I'm sad to say that's no longer the case. For what the prices are, it's not worth it. The food took over an hour to come out, was too spiced [and I like spicey--but I mean it was so peppered my nose stopped up], and they were out of key ingredients for some of the meals and cocktails. Wow! What a fantastic addition to T-Town for upscale dining with great service, attention to detail and a great dining experience! The steak tartare was delicious! The truffle bucatini was so flavorful yet not overly filling. The burger was mouth watering. Our table had 3 different steaks and were thoroughly enjoyed! The desserts of banana rum cake, chocolate cake & apple tart were all decadent! The chef checked in with our table of 8 to make sure we were fully happy with our meals. I made reservations for brunch and it did not disappoint. The space is gorgeous and all of the staff were extremely attentive. I ordered the mushroom tart and it was fantastic, full of flavor, and very filling. Overall, we had a great experience here and can't wait for the rooftop bar to open. 2nd time coming here and i once again was not disappointed! This is my go to place for a nice celebration. I ordered the steak which was called "Filet Robert" and it was cooked exactly how I wanted it. The sauce was great on top too. It paired well. The popovers which were called "gougeres" were very light and tasteful with the dip it came with. The espresso martini was made perfectly. I like a little baileys in it because I'm not a big coffee girl. The dessert we ordered was the rum cake. It had carmelized banana which was delicious and the cake was so moist. To be fair, this restaurant is new but we had friends from out of town who wanted to dine here. We were seated at 6:00 pm and we each ordered a drink as well as a cheese board to share. We waited 40 minutes for our drinks. The bar was short staffed and the bartender was making drinks for those in the bar as well as those having dinner.The cheese board arrived earlier than the drinks but no plates accompanied the appetizer - the server picked up all our wine glasses without asking if we were going to order wine. We ordered our dinner and some wine and had to ask for our wine glasses to be returned for our wine. The food took quite a while but all of it was very delicious. The noise in this restaurant was so deafening that it was difficult to communicate with each other. My ears were still ringing 3 days later. At the end of this very posh restaurant is a giant tv screen. This is not a sports bar. We arrived at 6 and did not leave until 9:45 due to very slow service. I noticed a manager standing around looking at people but he never lended a hand to any of the servers. This restaurant is expensive and is supposed to be upscale but it's unlikely that we'll return. If a restaurant is not running at full capacity due to being brand new they should limit the guests. The customer has to pay full price whether or not the restaurant at full speed. read more

As others have stated, wait times for food are way too long, service is slow and inattentive, and the food is average and usually served cold. I had a wonderful time at Forté! It has an exciting atmosphere and it is absolutely gorgeous. The drinks are strong and the bartenders are courteous! My wife and I came for a date night. I ordered the salmon and she ordered the rabbit. When they originally brought my salmon one of the sauces was completely dried onto the plate to the point I couldn't scrape it off. It was like they had fixed the plate and then placed it under a heat lamp. The salmon was extremely overcooked and dry because of this. When I asked them fix the plate they took it back and replaced it but left the same salmon. The flavor of the sauce was good but it didn't make up for the dry salmon. The only saving grace was that they comped the salmon dish. My wife enjoyed her dish. The rabbit was good and she really enjoyed the turnips in the dish. We visited Forte to celebrate a birthday. It was 81 degrees (we sat next to the thermostat). The server was great but that was the only thing that was. I'm quite certain the chef was yelling at staff. My food- while tasty- was somehow cold despite the extreme heat. My ticket was 96 dollars. We were a large party so i didn't pay much attention to my ticket at the time. Later i started thinking about my order and realized i was overcharged by 26 dollars.
