Every time I enter a Lebanese store in Dearborn, I am reminded why I don't shop at Arab-owned businesses in this town. Mind you, I believe this place is owned by Iraqis but damn it if they don't do the same crap as the Lebanese - men all standing around the register shooting the breeze and the owner/manager doesn't even pause for eye contact as he takes your money. I expect some respect, that comes in the form of eye contact and "hello or thank you" while I spend my money in your shop so be civil and tell your family/buddies to 'hang on while you cash out your customer'. I don't want to feel like i'm bothering you to shop in your store. No thank you. In chain stores, people lose their jobs for this type of behaviour. So while my first visit's rating was a 5 star (for the available products and their quality), I have to drop down to 1 star for customer service.

The two gentlemen working the cash register were nice and informative. I plan to go back to pick up some gifts for anniversary and Father's Day presents. Although I like the selection, I thought some of the items that got my attention were a little pricey.

I would not have got it since I was t sure it would work out. I even requested store credit and the associate then underlined my receipt that it's a final sale. I discovered this place after I got off work…read more I wanted to get some baked goods at the Panaderia next door, but alas, they were sold out, I mean not even a stale cookie was left. The option of waiting 2 hours for more baked goods was completely out of the question since I had another mile to go before I got back home, and I was hungrier than 3 bears. I decided to hit the panaderia in the morning like normal people do. So I went next door to La Carreta and found a wonderful little shop filled with goodies from Mexico and the US. Everything from a wooden tortilla press for 39.99, to a pack of coconut candy for a mere 2 bucks. They don't have tortillas, but they do carry everything else including a wide variety of hot sauces, which are a little higher than what you would find down the block at Prince Valley. The more exotic candies for sale were tamarind candy in several different forms, and my favorite, watermelon candy with chili pepper filling. I'm not brave enough to try either one, but I am sure that someone somewhere likes that sort of thing. They have all the things a normal store should have plus a wide variety of dried peppers and beans in bulk, plus a small assortment of fresh produce, like roma tomatoes, and peaches. I will be adding this to my list of go to places. With Telway across the street, its a hands down win-win. CASH ONLY
