Since I didn't pay for the entire car seat for her, we are no longer even acquaintances. She knew that she was to be leaving this DT location--- so she made a last "grab" for some free money. My story seems to be a common one to some people. DT has a reputation for not paying their employees well and some employees are using that reputation to their advantage. Trying to not let one bad egg ruin my trips to DT. I love Dollar Tree as a whole. Love the locations I go to in other states. Just haven't had luck in this area. This location is convenient-- near Walmart. I get in and out quick. This one is smaller than others--- but has the basics and that's all I need anymore. No more impulse purchases. It is clean-- but not really anything to "write home about."

What happened to the $100 that he and I agreed on? I left with my items and told them that they practice bad business. This place uses perfect bait and switch tactics, thinking you won't leave without SOME MONEY. But I did. And it wasn't the $25 difference. It was the way they treated me and the way they inferred that I was lying about the original quote that "Dominick" gave me. Oh and - Dominick was not reachable by phone since he was "on the road" and most likely wouldn't answer his phone - yeah rigghhhttttt... Ocean State Job Lot is like a Big Lots or some kind of Overstock/Clearance store. It has everything! From snacks and pet supplies to furniture and reading glasses, just go up and down the aisles to discover all kinds of treasure! I got some tote bags with donut prints for our annual Dash For The Donuts (Unofficial Yelp Event in Honolulu by Ric C., every January 1st). I also got a handcarry rolling luggage for $40. I should have measured the fit at the store. When we got home, I realized that the tote bags were taller than the interior of the luggage. We went back to Ocean State Job Lot and returned it easily because it was within 90 days. Thanks for the friendly, efficient service! This was a fun shopping adventure! I got some things for my friend's house like disinfecting wipes and permanent ink pens. There were so many useful items at reasonable prices! I'm looking forward to returning!

Before we had even finished looking, a man told us that if we weren't buying anything, we needed to leave. We explained that we were planning on buying something, but he kept insisting that we leave because he said he knew we weren't going to purchase anything. Then a woman came over and started raising her voice at us. She told us to get out in a very rude manner and even called us "annoying." The whole situation felt unnecessary because we had not caused any problems and were simply looking at what to buy. The man at the front counter also threatened to call the police if we didn't leave. At one point he said something else, but I couldn't understand him because he had a very heavy accent and few teeth. As we were leaving, I overheard the woman call us "weird people," which made the situation feel even more disrespectful. Later, one of my friends went back inside to calmly ask why we had been treated that way, but instead of explaining, the employees immediately started yelling at him to leave and again threatened to call the police.Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We came in intending to buy snacks, but instead we were treated with suspicion and hostility from the moment we walked in. They are always well stocked and there is no shortage of colorful ribbons, weights and more. Staff is always friendly and helpful and balloon prices are fair. There was a large handwritten sign taped on the shelf stating "6-Pack Envelopes - $1.50", so I grabbed a 6-pack and walked over to check out. There was no price marked on the package and the cashier turned to a supervisor standing nearby, who said without hesitation that it was $6. I quickly mentioned there was a large sign on the shelf that indicated the price was $1.50 for a 6-pack. The supervisor loudly accused me of lying to her and trying to steal from the store, then said the sign on the shelf wasn't right. When I suggested she take down the sign, she said she wasn't allowed to do that and instructed the cashier to charge me $1.50 for the item.
