I don't know where to start....,but this business shouldn't be serving people at all. Every time I go there there's always a problem, 1. Refusing to provide an automized receipts. 2. 30 minutes to an hour wait time 3.Ignorant, useless passive aggressive receptionists. Last time I visited there was on April for my sinus CT scan, the technician was 45 minutes late, I asked the receptionist if they are aware that I'm here and informed that I have to go to another appointment in SLO soon, she said it's gonna take few more minutes or if I would like to reschedule? I was the only person in the waiting area... Today I had my ENT doctor appointment and unfortunately this appointment wasn't productive at all because of "the five cities imaging" my doctor said the technician couldn't provide any specific details about my scan in a written report (measurements) etc...and the images weren't available to view, so the doctor asked me if I could go there and ask for a CD because (she tried to call them several times but it goes straight to voicemail) so she can view them and schedule me for a procedure ( it was urgent) we live in 2026... how hard it supposed to be to look at the pictures?... I understand everyone can make a mistake but refusing to fix them or help a patient is outrageous, especially when the insurance payed $700 and my portion was $300. So for a $1000 I can't even have an access to the stuff I payed for!!! This passive aggressive little Spanish female receptionist was useless but made sure to talk to me with a smile telling me there's nothing she can do about it. I left but when i got home i realized it's a dead end and I need to do something and advocate for myself.. came back and asked for a supervisor and got a reply "it's not going to help"? A guy receptionist tried to send me a links that were useless probably just like the one they sent to my doctor ,he suggested I should tell my dr to check her computer for malfunction??? eventually some lady came out to inform me there's nothing they can do about it other than I have to contact "medical records" to request the images of my sinus! They are unreachable over the phone, nor never respond to a voicemail we leave! Canceling appointments and then blaming you for not calling back to reschedule, meanwhile they have "wrong contact" information in my file and "texting to me to inform me of cancellation " I never got! I filed complaint to my insurance about this business and I hope others like me will do the same.. this is a small community and words can go around... so incompetent and unprofessional! read more

Office does not reach out when orders are faxed. Calling office after confirming orders are successfully faxed always results in same answer, we don't have your doctors orders. Let me start if by saying I have had probably a dozen+ MRI's of a half dozen body parts, with multiple spinal MRI scans over the last decade with last 3 scans being about 2 years ago. I use to get 5 Star service, literally severing was perfect, every time. Now they are rude and unhelpful on the phone, have lost or simply decided not bother with scan scheduling. Over one year of my doctor sending MRI request as 5-cities imaging is (or should I say was) their preferred imaging facility for patients. My doctors office can confirm order were sent even showing me fax received status of orders sent, and 5-cities will say they did not receive my doctors orders. Short of driving 20 minutes to the imaging center with hard copy of the order for a disabled patient that does not drive, they will not talk to me on the phone. "We cannot without a current doctors orders" yet their recording while on hold says they text you to set up appointment after doctors orders are received, if you received text please schedule via the text link (and imply do not talk to us or waist our time). The new ownership of 5-cities (which also now own Selma Carlson) by Adventist Health has turned all the Radiology Associates locations means the only other in SLO county is San Luis Diagnostic owned by the other SLO county hospitals. While I am insured by two different coverage of which both have been readily accepted in the past all I think is they looking at who is paying for the MRI and just tossing the doctors orders if they don't want to do it. So much for being a loyal long term customer. Also just a FYI, just because Radiology associates is a preferred provider by my top tier employer insurance does not mean a radiologist that reviews your imaging will also be a preferred provider. Just went through giant unexpected bill from one of their other locations a few months ago. Adventist Health (AH) owns Radiology Associates (RA). Radiology Associates includes: * Digital Medical Imaging (Santa Maria) * 5-Cities Imaging (Pismo Beach) * Selma Carlson (SLO) * Templeton Imaging So disappointing we have a choice of only the Adventist Health or Dignity Health owned MRI imaging in the Central Coast. Not so long ago all were privately owned by 3 companies that were not our area hospitals. I am now left with a single choice, given the 4-5 week wait to get a an appointment at the non AH/RA can only assume I am not the only being affectively locked out of receiving care from RA including 5-Cities Imaging. Amazing how a change in ownership can take a business from 5 star service to 1 star. A disappointing change. read more

I have been using this company for the past 10 years and my insurance has never changed . I always pay my deductible and have the remind the front desk person to collect my 50 dollar deductable . My issue is that every time I have used this company for a MRI , I always receive a text saying I own them money or a bill in the mail for my deductible. They have a big issue with the billing department not on the same page as the person who is accepting the payment . This has become a issue having to get on the phone and call and wait to speak someone and have them say oh yea you did pay. We are sorry our billing department in Indiana has alot of issues . Well maybe just maybe you should find a company that know how to do their job. I think Its time to find a different company to take any MRI's I might need . read more

I love this facility! As a brain cancer survivor- I was so happy to see such a talented team of radiologists working on my MRI. They are one of the only places on the central coast that I've heard of having a neuro radiologist. Also- their medical records team is on top of it. They are very responsive, went out of their way to help me, followed up promptly. Brenda in particular stood out as being an A++ player. She was so kind, prompt, had great follow up- she is an amazing team member. The front desk was very thoughtful & considerate. I was on crutches & she went out of her way to ask someone to open the door for me. I had a wonderful experience... this place will be my go to for imaging. And to add a cherry on top- they have one of the NEWEST MRI machines on the coast! SO AWESOME! Thank you for taking such good care of me. read more

I've been a patient for over 20 years and recently the implemented a new phone system. DO NOT GO HERE, Drive to Santa Maria, do what ever it takes, but it is NOT WORTH YOUR TIME to try to schedule an appointment. They say they will text you a link to schedule, they do not. They txt you a phone number and the outgoing message tells you to use the link in the text (that they didn't send) then the options are for billing, medical records or if you stay on the line for 1 a minute and 42 seconds you are told to press 4 for "something else" ... well "something else" still isn't the people who schedule your appointment, you they will take your info and then tell you they have to transfer you. They transferred me and 10 minutes later I was still on hold ... YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR SYSTEM ... IT'S BROKEN AND SUCKS!!! read more

This organization badly needs customer care training. The present level of care demonstrates that each employee decides for themselves how important customer care is. In turn, that indicates that management believes that the technical aspects of the business are important, but that the customer care aspects are unimportant. Is anyone reading these reviews? I would be embarrassed to have this number of bad reviews. They are easily remedied. There are consulting firms that specialize in this area. Let me guess that there are no customer care policies and procedures. More importantly, there is no customer care training. I needed a shoulder MRI with contrast. My appointment was at 10:15 and I was seeing the doctor by 10:25. The Doctor injected contrast with no issue. After a brief 10-minute wait, I was ushered into the MRI section. My MRI technician was great. He explained what he was doing, set me up, and started the procedure. The technician check with me during the procedure which lowered my anxiety. The time in the chamber was only around 15-20 minutes. The total time for the entire procedure was around 45 minutes. Overall, I give it a very good rating. read more

I had a terrible experience at five cities imaging. The technician never did anything but yell KEEP YOUR ARM STILL.. he never spoke a kind word!. His name was Kyle and he just about killed me. In fact he never looked at me. He kept wrapping me arm with elastic bands (I still have bruises) he would poke an area then try another. Finally he poked the vein in wrist moved the needle around and blood splattered. He then pored a liquid that burned so bad I yelled him to STOP. He replied ok we are done. Instead of helping me I came off the table almost losing my balance. Fortunately the door stopped me from falling. By the way I am 85 years old and should receive some respect. The nurse followed me to the car to say she was sorry. As a result I would not go to this imaging place ever again. I hope this does not happen to another elderly person. read more

The reviews regarding customer service are completely accurate. My first experience was bringing my 2 yr old here for imaging and I should've known then when they were cold with a 2 yr old. I scheduled my appointment a week in advance and when scheduling we discussed amount due at time of service. I spoke with supervisor, Nicole, who gave me one price and confirmed we were keeping appt with that out of pocket cost. Upon arrival at appt, the front desk employee, was cold and robotic. Zero eye contact, zero interest in service and clearly overwhelmed when people started coming into lobby. Once I got checked in and went to pay, I informed her the price that Nicole gave me. She referenced her notes and said that Nicole never said that, put me on the phone with someone named Dani who was horrendous to deal with. Dani basically said that I was lying and was quite condescending in saying that Nicole would never said that amount. Nicole was very nice during our conversation although reported different things while the front desk employee and Dani were very callous and cold. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like this in medical facility. People in healthcare should have a certain desire to care and carry compassion but I did not experience that here, in the least. If needed, will certainly wait the extra time to go somewhere else next time. read more

I have never been treated so rudely than I was on this Thursday morning. The technician who helped me get ready for a PET scan must have been running late for something. He went through his memorized instructions and when I asked a question he acted intimidated. When he left the room I asked him to cover me with the folded blanket he threw on my knees and he just kept walking out. After the scan he helped me up stated "you're all done" and walked away. I asked him if they called my ride and he just kept going. I'm 80 years old and have stage 4 lung cancer and feel I deserve more respect than this person gave me. Never thought to review a place for an MRI but they were so nice I decided to take the time. My doc referred this office for my MRI. I was told someone would call me within a week. To my surprise, the radiologist called me the next day to schedule and said they spoke to my doctor and insurance, and I was cleared for my MRI. They got me an appt within 2 weeks, and told me my payment amount and what to expect, when to arrive, etc. Day of, I arrived at 5:45am for my 6am appt and the front desk person was already open and had chairs set out front. Two simple and quick forms, and I was in the machine right at 6. The tech was very personable as well, went over the form, etc. I even got to stay in my own clothes. During the MRI, the tech spoke to me a few times letting me know what was going on and about how much time was left. Anyway, super easy and pleasant experience overall which is nice when you're in pain (or when it's super early). read more

I had a much better experience this morning than I've had in the past. The people who scheduled the appointment were very nice, as were the people who checked me in. Everything was much more organized and, most notably, they weren't stacking patients up like firewood in the waiting rooms, like in the past. I waited less than 5 minutes and the imaging went as well as one can expect. The employees all seemed genuinely friendly and relaxed compared to the snarling bears of the past. They've either gotten better employees or they're treating them better. A well-run business does produce happier people and DMI seems to have gotten it's act together. I have to say the same thing about Digital Medical Imaging in Pismo Beach, which is where I was at last week. Very pleasant experience overall! I do have one bit of feedback: while I waited, a technician asked a woman, right in front of us and nice and loud, "Are you wearing a bra? Because you're going to have to take that off." Most of the people waiting there have thoughts of cancer rolling around in their heads. They're feeling vulnerable and nervous. Every last bit of respect and dignity they receive is invaluable. I know I was scared shitless about the CT scan I was about to have. And a woman sitting near me was quietly weeping while her husband comforted her. So please don't be talking about our procedures, our medical conditions, or about us having to remove our underclothes while we're in front of strangers. Thank you. Both DMI and Five Cities are part of "Radiology Associates," which is owned by Pueblo Radiology Medical Group. This is all very confusing! I would recommend for cleanliness and speed of getting an appointment, but give a thumbs down for customer service. The Receptionist was on the phone when I arrived. When she got off the phone she did not acknowledge me or three others who came in behind me. I asked for a mask and she said she would be with me in a few minutes. I stood there for ten minutes while she typed on the computer. She then hands me a mask, asked for my name and said that will be X amount of dollars. Very impersonal. Get ushered out to another waiting room and the Tech brings me in for my scan and doesn't acknowledge me or anything just tells me to lay down rattles off a few questions and the scan starts. I felt like I was being helped by robots. Would not recommend if you want any level of customer service. read more

I can't say enough good things about this facility and their staff. I was greeted with friendly smiles upon walking into the reception area. My information was processed quickly and thoroughly. I'm not sure how to spell the name of the kind staff member that helped me though her name is pronounced 'Yesey". I'm sure I got that all wrong, spelling wise. She was very professional, friendly, thorough and most importantly, kind and compassionate. There was a bit of a wait time and my current physical state prohibits me from sitting for extended periods of time. The staff was aware of this and kindly suggested I schedule an appt later this morning. I did so and I was in and out within 15 minutes. No wait time at all. The radiology technician was very friendly and spoke with me about the details of my situation. She made sure to take all images necessary based on my specific needs. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Tried to inject contrast into my arms 5 times. Every time DONNA failed..... leaving my left arm w multiple giant bruises and lumps of failed injected contrast IN MY ARM. Luckily I was in the mri machine or else I would have made it a point to have this pathetic excuse of a employee stop. Creating a all day burning sensation, luckily now my arm is just one giant horrific bruise. As a person who's had MRIs every year for 9 years I've never once had an experience as negative as this. Recently messed up my shoulder and needed a mri. My dr wanted this location saying their mri machine is stronger. Check in was quick and friendly. The procedure of contrast into my shoulder was pretty painless (until later but that's not their fault) and the mri is an mri lol. The techs are all friendly and professional. read more

Mistake after mistake- Proceed with Caution My husband had to have a PET scan and a CT scan here. To do that the patient has ONE IV put in. Then one test is done after the other. The 1st mistake was the technician forgot that and took it out after first test, and then had to poke him again in the other arm to start another one. That one got all black & blue and evidently wasn't done well by the look of things. The 2nd mistake was they were supposed to make copies of everything on a disk so that we have a copy and can show any doctor necessary. We traveled all the way to UCLA to show head & neck surgeon and on the PET scan was only BELOW HIS WAIST! The written report was not received as well even though they clearly had the fax number and contact doctors name and phone number.The 3rd mistake was their ability to correct the situation. When bringing the bad disk copying to their attention they then made a new disk and promised to send it overnight next day delivery. That failed as well, because they weren't aware of when fedex picks up in their area.H E L L O ? Don't you think knowing how important it was to get the disk there they would of checked that?The 4th mistake was when they billed the wrong insurance location. When I called about this they indicated they didn't have a copy of my insurance card which we clearly given to the front office staff the day of his tests! My advice would be choose another place ... and if you can't for whatever reason GET COPIES OF EVERYTHING. DISKS! WRITTEN REPORTS!. Have them dbl check that the disk is showing what it is suppose to show BEFORE you leave the facility! read more

This morning I had an HSG at the Pismo Office and the procedure could not have gone any better. When calling to make the appointment, the staff took their time and answered all my questions. When I arrived this morning, the receptionist was very nice and professional and I only had to wait a few minutes. Both nurses that helped with the procedure were great and put me at ease. I was pretty nervous, but they helped me relax and made me laugh. Dr. Duberg performed the procedure and he was amazing! He explained everything before and during and was very gentle. I'd highly recommend him! read more

Wow, where to start. Mind you I've already called and asked for a return call to share my experience and of course they never called me back. Patients are not at all important to these people. I was supposed to get sedation for my procedure. Due to the fact THEY didn't have me come in early enough I was unable To get it. The tech John R ( I know his Full name ) treated me absolutely awful. He bullied/ forced me into to doing it with no sedation even though I was sobbing and panic stricken. He spoke to me like a robot and it was very obvious he couldn't have cared less the panic and trauma I was dealing with. People are sick when they go here and scared and we need people who actually give a crap to be working in these jobs. I can't imagine I would ever set foot in this office again. Had an xray ordered and was suggested by my doctor to use 5-cities Medical Imaging. Was also told I didn't need an appointment. When I arrived I stood for several minutes directly in front of the window where I was ignored by the receptionist for several minutes while she finished her computer work. These ladies need a talk to about how to properly greet a customer. Their attitude was not a friendly one at all and was borderline rude. I was told I needed an appointment for this procedure and when I told her that my understanding that they took walk ins she said they do but were very busy and that they could not get me in for 6 days. I also asked if I could get this procedure done at the same time as another procedure already scheduled at a sooner date. No was the answer. I just can't recommend this place based on the treatment I got at the front desk. At another time I had an MRI done and had a panic attack from the heat that was generated during my test and kept calling out for help. The person doing the test had left the room where they are supposed to stay in and observe the patient from. That was a terrible experience and now I am terrified of having MRI's or CT scans and require sedation before these test. Just stay away from this place. There are other places that do the same testing. read more

The VA sent me here last year for first a CT Scan then a couple of weeks later for a MRI. All was well and the VA quickly paid for all of it. Now less than a year later once again VA is sending me there this time for a Barium Swallow. I told them VA is paying for it again And paperwork was coming. I've made 3 or 4 attempts to make an appointment and now a week later I'm still waiting. They are stalling seeing me and I think they are horrible. My health is in jeopardy and they are totally disrespecting me as a decorated veteran and a paying customer. My doc faxed everything they need and they are still stalling giving me an appointment. I told them VA will pay just like they did twice last year but that means nothing to them like I'm lying . They have no respect for this veteran! Maybe all veterans from their attitude! read more

Overall good experience and prices are fair with my insurance, but... The wait this time was ridiculous. I was told to arrive at 730 and was not fully received until 830. When I asked for a disk, she made me wait a half hour and gave me an unpleasant look when I checked on it after 30 mins to let her know I do have to get to work. The men were both courteous and nice, though I was not warned the machine moves during the procedure. Finally, I recommend the hospital invest in disposable or washable slippers. I waited for 30 mins in my socks on the cold, dirty floor. That's disgusting! No telling what kind of microbes we're picking up on our socks. Just about every encounter was disappointing. 1. I called to schedule an appointment and I was told I could not without the order from the doctor (who was the one who told me to schedule the appointment). When I asked if they will call me to schedule once they receive the order, or do I need to call back to schedule. They said they would call me once the order was received. NOPE! *Two weeks later, still no call, so I had to call back to schedule. 2. I get there, and I understand the whole Covid thing, but there was ZERO customer service or treatment as a human, just process you through - very COLD. 3. The worst was the x-ray tech. She was so rude. I didn't fit into her little box where she could just process me through. She ASSUMED I was in there for pain and just kept asking me things she could check off her boxes and right down. I told her I had no pain but I have an imbalance and the doc wants to see if he can see anything and why. She keeps asking where's the pain, then later asks, "which side is worse?" So I ask, "worse how?", and she YELLS at me, "we are talking about the pain - that's why your here. I need to write something down." I reiterated there is no pain and try to explain further to her again. We get through it and she is still asking questions, so I try to explain and she could care less. She just wanted to know what she needed to know to process me through and get me out of there, and because I didn't fit into her little box to process easily and quickly, she was extremely RUDE with ZERO BED SIDE MANNER. Sorry I disturbed your day as a cash payer and brought you business. I hope to never go there again as it was such a bad experience. I will choose a different imaging place next time. The facility and technical staff are fine, their billing department stinks - hence this negative review. I've had two CT's there and had major problems with extremely untimely resolution to billing problems. 1) I was billed, and promptly paid for a CT scan - however, they took over 8 months after getting paid by the insurance company to reimburse me over $300!!! After contacting them over a period of months, I finally got fully reimbursed. (This was about 1 year after services were rendered). Also, I talked with the owner of the company to complain. Evidently, that complaint didn't resolve the problems because; 2) They just billed me for additional costs on a CT that took place in 12/2011!!! Yes, 2011. The insurance payout to them was in 8/2012, but they didn't even bill me until 6/2013!!! Why does it take 10 months to send out a bill? I refused to pay due to the extremely tardy billing, and to their credit, they wrote off the bill (the amount owed was less than $25). I will never go back to them - the technical work was fine - but, they've proven they can't even handle simple billing and accounting. If you go to them, I would be very wary of their accounting practices and examine all your charges. I'd even consider about a year after your procedure, calling them to see if you are owed money or if you owe them and they haven't billed you. This company needs to get a new billing firm . PS I assume that my original negative Yelp review on the $300 they kept for over 8 months got taken down. This review should validate my original review since I've had two billing related problems with them - I hope they can't squash this negative review. read more

I am always seen at DMI in Santa Maria. The staff is excellent, from scheduling and check in it's always easy and made conveniently to fit my schedule. The technologists and Dr's have always completely explained any procedure I've had done. I would recommend this facility without reservation. read more
