That consisted of mayonnaise, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, onions, and mustard. As usual, it was a very messy burger. I've been going to Five guys for 17 years now to various locations, always loved it. Nowadays, the prices are ridiculous but the family still likes to go once in a while as a treat. This last time we ordered a large fry like always and theyreduced the amount given by almost half. They come in a little paper bag now with barely any extra. We have multiple burger places but they are the best. They use fresh ingredients and the flavor of their potatoes are amazing. Their fries have a special flavor as a result of this. The even post where there potatoes came from on their order board. Service is efficient and customer-focused. I met a Manager named Rose who guaranteed the quality of her product. She introduced me to her team which was very enthusiastic. This is a rare experience in today's world. Ambiance is kitschy and they give out terrific free peanuts in the shell to munch on while you wait. They are a wonderful local hamburger place that also makes great hotdogs. Solid burgers, nice n greasy, flattish smashed patties which stack nicely as a double. Cheese gets a nice melt and the lettuce tomato onion are always fresh and on point. I'm not a huge fry guy so I won't comment but they make a point to let you see the bags of potatoes all around the store, I assume they're very fresh. People seem to like them. I recently picked-up an order and none of the cooks were wearing masks and they were all talking over the food they were making which grossed me out. I am (was) a very long time customer (for almost 10 years now since I moved to Hillsborough) and I had a very bad experience today(Sep 29th at 1pm). I arrived at the store and the cashier was talking with all the other employees in Kitchen, which is was fine and I gave all the time needed. After 5 minutes waiting for the cashier to take my order I ordered 2 milkshakes and waited for my order to be done for more than 15 minutes as he was chatting with other customers and not showing any sense of urgency in help me. Even the other customer told him to stop talking with him to help me and my kids. After talking with this customer he returned to talk with the employees at grill area and I waited, did not interrupted. After 5 more minutes, none of the 3 employees were working (as facility was empt) and Interrupted their life story chat and I asked them if someone will do my simple 2 shakes (for my kids) and for my surprise the guy automatically replied saying If I want a refund he can get that. I never asked for that, so rude from him, seeing that we were waiting for a long period for only 2 shakes. Of course I told no as those shakes were for my kids and I already waited very calm for more than 20 minutes for only two simple Shakes. I will never go back again and I do not recommend this place anymore. Very bad experience and not customer service at all. I will never go back to this place anymore. read more

As a self-admitted non-burger guy...the family likes to eat here and I don't object. The staff is always friendly and attentive. My boys enjoy eating a few "shell yourself peanuts" (complimentary btw) as we wait for our order to be prepared. The burgers (JR = single, Regular = double patty) are juicy and a wide variety of toppings are available. In addition to the burgers they have a hot dog, grilled cheese and few other items available. Ordered two little bacon cheeseburgers "all the way" through DoorDash as a pick up order and literally everything went wrong. First they did not offer grilled mushrooms as a topping even though it is available in the store. So I selected the rest of the toppings and accepted that I could not have mushrooms. After placing the order I received a text within minutes that the order was ready for pickup. I rushed out the door and the order wasn't ready when I arrived which is fine if the order was correct when it was done. Unfortunately I didn't think I needed to open my burgers right there on the counter so it wasn't until I got home that I found that both burgers were wrong. They were missing the bacon and all the toppings I requested (lettuce, tomatoe, grilled onions). The fries were soggy but there was at least a big portion. I enjoy the occasional Five Guys burger. It's sort of an in between fast food and a sit down restaurant quality burger. Sort of compatible with Shake Shack and Habit Burger and Grill. And while I wouldn't go there for a veggie burger I do find it odd that that veggie burger was literally a bun with tomato, lettuce, and onion. I was in such burger crave mode that I ordered 2 double cheeseburger. 1 bacon cheese burger and 1 cheese burger with a side order of large fries. The burgers were juicy, tender, and awesome. Usually Five Guys food itself is not that bad but the Hillsborough one is the worst place to eat in town. I ordered some fries and they were so salty that your teeth would really grind over the salt like you have sand in your mouth and they tasted awful. the employees are so careless and management is just lazy. They also have stolen some people credit card numbers and used it on other purchases. The burgers are just way to soggy and they just do not care about how they package it. Their burgers are good here. I love the toppings I can pile on. BUT. BUT. BUT... they are one of the few scumbag companies who still use trans fats in their burgers. They technically have till 2018 to stop using it, and they're waiting till that, instead of earlier. So, that's not cool. The Patties are a little too small as well for the price. Does that stuff taste good? Hell yeah. But, not cool on the trans fats since they're abysmal for you, and he patties are so damn small. Now I know how a girl feels when they expect a big piece of meat in the pants, and then when they come down, they see something small. It's depressing and a buzz kill. So, I feel you pain now women. Not in my case, but damn. Not cool. So, did those trans fats, make those burgers bigger and season the fries more. Seriously. Just salt? Cmon. It's 2017. Move on from just salt. I enjoy these burgers... my wife, on the otherhand, who also enjoys a good burger,doesn't. She finds them to be dry, as if the cooks flatten out the patties with their spatulas (draining the juices out of the meat which = less tasty burgers) in order for them to cook faster. I like my burgers big, greasy & sloppy and Five Guys delivered on that front. The 2 patties w/ the melted cheese filled my belly with glee. However, I love fries with my burgers, and I've always liked seasoned fries, but Five Guys seasoned fries disgust me. Waaay too much seasoning and it doesn't even taste good. Get the regular fries. The nice part is they give you a lot of them. If you get mad at the cooks for flattening out & drying out your burger patties, or there's too much seasoning on your fries, get them back by eating the peanuts & throwing the shells all over the floor out of respect for the old Lone Star on Rt. 22 (RIP). A message to the owner & managers of Five Guys: tell your cooks to stop pushing on the patties with their spatulas. We'd rather wait an extra minute for a juicier & better cooked burger!! 6:50 on 12/14/17 - Hilsborough, NJ location: Screw up my order the first time and I'll cut you some slack and I pointed out nicely that the bacon cheeseburger was not ordered with tomatoes (tomatoes were not on the order or on the receipt). I waited for a replacement "on the fly." Well, the replacement looked like a kiddie's burger and was missing the bacon and I pointed this out and was handed aluminum foil with some bacon in it. Given the chance to make things right, you screw it up AGAIN after I return it and shame on you especially after I gave you the receipt that had the order CORRECT on it and explained to you the original error. Handing me the components wrapped in foil that you forgot the second time says that you just don't care. I ended up leaving the food at the pick-up area and leaving. I'm out the money that I paid (I didn't bother asking for a refund -- it is the cost of learning that some places no longer care about customer service) and I had to go elsewhere to eat. There was no excuse for this other than not caring about their customers. They weren't busy and the shift manager that handled this just stared at me as if I was supposed to solve the problem -- not him. You can apologize, but an apology without sincerity or proper action is about as useless as a fork when you need a straw. You've lost a good customer. I won't be back!!! I've been here at least 4 times now, and no matter how bad I wish it weren't true, this is a really crappy Five Guys. I waited for what seemed like an eternity for Five Guys to open in my town. I had previously been to the North Brunswick location and it was love at first bite. The Hillsborough location just does not have it right for some reason. I get that the burgers have to be well done, but in North Brunswick, I barely noticed. I ate that sloppy burger and had juices running down my hands - it was so juicy, the bottom of the bun was fairly well disintegrated by the time I was half way through. Absolutely delicious. The burgers in H-boro are well done, smaller/thinner, and have zero juiciness. I mean ZERO. Sooooo dry. I can only imagine that the kids they have behind the counter grilling burgers are mashing down on them with their spatulas to get them to cook faster and squeezing out any juiciness in the process (and making them super thin). At nearly $8 for a small bacon cheeseburger and a regular soda, my lunch today should have been light years better than it was. I'm done trying... Sooo bummed. read more

The bacon is always perfectly crispy and it's always nice getting the extra french fries in the bag along with your order. The fries can be hit-or-miss, however. I'm perplexed, and sad. Friendly staff, good food, love the convenient location, but they are unwilling to make mine wrapped in lettuce, per my low carb diet. I've had it this way at all In-N-Out Burgers on the left coast, and even at other Five Guys (Ewing, NJ, for instance). If you order it "protein style", the Hillsborough location will call that "bun-less" and place the ingredients in a rectangular tin, hand it to you with a plastic fork, knife, and a small container of mustard/mayo so that you can eat it like a salad adding condiments as you wish. This is a step in the right direction, but falls short of the mark. Two times i thought i was ordering it wrapped and received it in the tin. Today I specifically asked if it could be wrapped in lettuce and was told the owner has instructed them that they are not allowed to do this - they can only put it into the tin. Why? Because the owner said, that's why. In Ewing once I asked for protein style and wrapped, they asked if I wanted it wrapped in lettuce to be held by hand, or in the tin. Once I said wrapped they said "no problem, coming right up"! The owner of the Hillsborough Five Guys needs to go to this link to better understand the opportunity for the low carb market.
