I've been coming here for years and it's always been a reliable spot. Service is very quick, which I appreciate, especially when I don't have much time. Breakfast is definitely where they stand out. The freshly squeezed orange juice is to die for and always a highlight, 10/10. I've tried lunch a few times and it's just okay. The turkey BLT and regular turkey sandwich were a little dry, mostly the turkey itself. Nothing terrible, just not something I'd go out of my way for again. Overall average dining experience but still with some flair. For the holidays, there were a lot of decorations and lights peppering the ambience with waitressing staff appearing appropriately spirited for the holiday. Their menu is enormous and food is just average, but still decent for a diner. There is ample seating especially for families with children. The location is easily accessed from either direction on the bypass road and offers great dessert options to-go. Okay so normally I review on first visit but in the last week we've already been here 4 times, so that should tell you already how much I love this diner! The food is immaculate. I got a Chicharrones Desayuno, chocolate chip pancakes, a French dip, and several speciality coffees (different visits, I swear!). Each and every one has impressed me - the breakfast chicharrones especially! I'd post pictures but I didn't remember before eating to take any! Service is fantastic as well. The servers are attentive, even with how busy it always is, and sweeter than the powdered sugar on my pancakes. Really set a great atmosphere and experience! Additionally, they know how to make coffee GOOD. So if you are a coffee snob, they know how to pull a shot and keep it fresh. Honestly, this place is a 5/5 on all fronts for me. Found myself on Route 22 and wasn't feeling fast food to which there is an abundance in that neck of the woods. Alas, I came upon the Bridgewater Diner. I ordered the Spanakopita with Greek salad dinner special. The Spanakopita was greasy and mushy. I think it may have been over heated in a microwave. The Greek salad was soggy, warm and weirdly served in an ice cream sundae bowl? The meal came with soup and desert. I went with the split pea soup which was a bit on the salty side but not too bad. For desert I ordered the rice pudding which was excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. In summation. Very average diner. I may give it another try someday but I won't be in any rush to do so. read more

(An exquisite experience, where comforts of home meet the core values of fine dining) We were met at the door by a smiling nice old man in a Rolex who asked how many we'd be having for an afternoon lunch. Sun rays peaked through the windows not to an offensive level, but just enough to enhance the ambience. We were then led to a table by probably one of THE best servers I've possibly had in my 20+ years of dining experience. His name: Aron. He puts on a smile that makes me really believe it IS his pleasure to serve us. I really mean he could have sat right down at the table and none of my party would have batted an eye about it. He even gave us a complimentary strawberry lemonade and it was gone before I could even take a picture it was so good! The burgers taste like they came right off the grill. The disco fries had an amazing cheese stretch. Don't even get me started on the effort put into the milkshakes taste and looks wise. If you have NOT had the food here I HIGHLY recommend you to try it. This is where fine dining and a taste of home intersect and I loved every minute of it. Bridgewater Diner is one of our favorite places for breakfast. The one thing that sets it apart from other local diners is the fresh squeezed orange juice. Although it costs $8, it is well worth it. It is served in a pint jar style glass. My husband and I go there specifically for the fresh OJ. Everything else we've had for breakfast is good but the OJ is the reason to come here over all other diners in the area. We've enjoyed breakfast bowls, omelettes, and over easy eggs with pork roll. All breakfast food is great and served quickly. Service is good and coffee refills were offered at least twice. The ambiance is clean and inviting and rest rooms are clean and well maintained. As in most diners the menu is pretty extensive and I like to try the specials but nothing on the special menu caught my attention so I just went with a burger. All good. Don't come here as often as we should. Always forget about it because it's in the middle of RT 22, and no matter what time it is, it's always so busy. Yesterday was one of those quiet Sunday's and we didn't know where we would end up after mass. We said if we pull in and get a parking space we'd give it a go. So there we were. As usual, outside and inside was decorated for the season, Easter this time of year. We were sat right away, which I was surprised at because of the amount of cars in the lot, and the people waiting, but we were a party of 2. The menu is extensive and I always find when this is the case, hard to decide. While deciding I had a glass of their freshly squeezed OJ - so delicious. The best thing about Jersey is the diners. Went to Bridgewater Cafe while on an "adventure" to Jersey. This place is really good. I felt like having something sweet after a long day of work so I went with the Peanut Butter Nutella pancakes. They were really sweet. There was 3 layers of buttermilk pancakes and a ton of chocolate syrup. The pancakes were topped with strawberry. I really liked how the pancakes had full peanut butter chips inside. We were immediately served water with lemon, and hot fresh coffee. I ordered a Greek omelette with well done hash browns, and a side of bacon, and rye toast. It was very good. My boyfriend ordered 2 eggs over easy with Canadian bacon and well done hash browns and whole wheat toast.He too enjoyed his breakfast. They also sell all homemade desserts. Everything from cheesecake, big chocolate cake and many other flavors,pies, big cookies, rice The inside has all been redone with new booths and tables and chairs. It can be accessed from either the East or West bound sides of 22. They do have some handicap parking along with a free parking lot.This place is very busy on weekends. Last night my son and I decided to give it a shot for dinner. He ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and I decided to try the Avocado Burger. We were both really pleased with the taste of our food. Neither one of us were in the mood for sweet drinks so we both stuck with water. Also we weren't exactly eating healthy so I inquired if a side salad was available to go with the sandwiches. I was told I could have a tossed or a caesar. Our server was amiable and came at the right times. Everything was actually pretty great until I got the check and paid it. Now don't get me wrong, I'm very aware of inflation and its effect on our eating out. But after paying the bill and tip, I felt like something wasn't quite right. So I check the receipt and I was kind of dumbfounded. Not only was some of the check a bit stratospheric another part of it was out and out theft. Now let's dissect this a bit shall we? My son ordered a 6 dollar grilled cheese sandwich and we were charged 8 dollars for the side salad to go with it. That's a small plate salad, nothing fancy, 30 cents worth of greens and 25 cents worth of dressing. And I got one too, so that's SIXTEEN dollars for two side salads. Rip off. Really can we have a ceiling price on a small low cost appetizer or what? But perhaps you may think I'm making too much of this. Well check this out, two cups of tap water with our meal. SIX DOLLARS WE WERE CHARGED for two cups of tap water. Why were we even charged for our water to begin with, and it was rung up as a 'soft drink'. I liked the food here really, but I am not a fan of being taken advantage of. We will not be returning. And that's a shame, because who knows how much money they will lose because of this type of behavior? TWENTY TWO DOLLARS FOR WATER AND SOME LETTUCE. SHEEESH. read more
