Sometimes you just get a craving for a good burger.   Five Guys, a local success story, has been fulfilling this need for years.  The menu is pretty simple.  The space is clear and bright.  The peanuts are there for the taking.  The fries are crisp and overflowing.  You can design your own soda and add whatever toppings you would like to your burger.  I like the little cheeseburger all the way which means there are so many toppings that I need to wrap the bottom of my burger in a little foil holder so everything doesn't come spilling out.  The experience is pure satisfaction. Update...I still like a 5 Guys burger every now and then...and so do my kids. It is on the rotation of local burger joints - Foster's Grill, Shake Shack, etc. It still hits the spot and if you can get freshly fried fries they are quite tasty. My only complaint and others have voiced this is when you go into the restaurant and they have the signs saying "Best $5 burger.." That is a bit too much to swallow when the burger is now approximately $12 bucks and you spend over $20 when you add small fries and a drink. For a comparison, I say the best burger around is from the Great American Restaurants (i.e. Jacksons, Sweetwater, etc). You get their freshly ground burger with fries for $16. Pretty much the same price as 5 Guys. Anyway, I'll keep my rating at 4 stars but everybody needs to be aware that 5 guys should probably be called "12 guys" now as there are no $5 burgers to be found there...take down those signs! read more

Came here to pick up an online order, I was tired out of my mind from working all day and just wanted to get in and get out. I took my bag, looked inside, and saw nothing but fries. I asked them where the burger was at, and someone from the kitchen said under their breath it was in the bag. I couldn't see it right away, but then the same person in the kitchen said, "Haven't you been here before?" like I was some kind of idiot. I really hope that person isn't working there. This was the worst Five Guys my husband and I have ever had. After a long day of moving, we ordered through Uber Eats as our first meal in our new home. We both ordered Bacon Cheeseburgers (mine on lettuce instead of a bun) and a regular size Cajun Fries. The fries were half full, limp, and tasteless. Both burgers had tiny, thin patties compared to the Annandale Five Guys and were also tasteless. We ended up throwing the food away it was that bad. Been craving a cheeseburger for cheat day so came to pick up a few orders for lunch on Friday. Ordered 3 meals online for 1:11 curbside pickup. I pulled upfront at 1:15 and called so staff can bring my bag outside. I was told they were working on the fries so I told them I'll park and wait, please bring outside when done. Waited and waited and waited... 1:30 I go inside and my order was sitting on top of the warmer. I complained and said I've been waiting outside... "sorry"was all I got. One thing that does seem to confuse people is the difference between jr and regular burger. Jr is not little it actually just means single patty vs double patty. I've been meaning to write this review for a while. 5 guys is my favorite burger hands down for years now. However, this location has a young man working who has been there for some time, his name on my ticket is Mohamed L and I'm not sure it's his name but he is by far the most friendly man I have ever encountered at any food establishment. He always has a smile on his face, he is always working hard, and gives off an incredibly kind vibe. If this man isn't running this place already, he needs to be. Good food, quick service, but one bad employee ruins the experience. The restaurant was crowded, it was lunchtime and busy, as it should be at this type of restaurant. The people in front of me ordered their fries extra crispy, and a special order with their burger. This one employee just rolls his eyes and shakes his head with disapproval for a special order. While I was waiting for my food, again, a special order came in and he just looks perturbed. Someone like that can bring the whole team down and whole team energy can be stifled. Yay! So lunchtime and we head to Five Guys. I had originally tried this once, in Brea California and was not impressed, but with my coworker choosing this place, I was like sure I'll try it yeah. It's better than the Brea one. I got the hamburger with 2 patties, tomatoes, lettuce. I ate it in about 5 minutes haha. They have a better flavor with the meat juices comin' out and adding to the rest of the burger, and going all the way helps add ingredients to the burger so you can cater to your liking. But the thing with this Five Guys is that it takes a while for your order to come out, even if there are only 2 people in front of you. They have a really fun soda machine with a bunch of drinks, so there is that if you're interested in playing around with that! :) Also peanuts. read more

I had to wait 30 minutes alongside a ton of of other angry customers to learn my food had been ready the entire time, their staff just wasn't calling out done meals, they just stack them in a big pile in the back behind the counter where you can't access them or read the receipts to see whose is whose. Everyone just had to repeatedly yell their name at one harried employee who couldn't hear/understand them and was reluctant to leave the grill. The most frustrating carry out experience of my life. The food is fine, it's burgers (fries were cold and shriveled though) but christ are the staff here are overworked and underequipped to deal with any more than a few online orders at a time. This is what I wrote about the Five Guys at McPherson Square about 2 weeks ago: --------------------------------------------- Five Guys is an excellent hamburger chain. It does not taste as good as Shake Shack, but it is much cheaper (about 30%-50% less money). It used to dominate the Washington market in burgers, while Shake Shack was very big in New York (where I come from originally). Eventually Five Guys moved into NYC, and Shake Shack became plentiful in DC. Both are very good places to eat, but, if you want the best burgers irrespective of price, you should go to Shake Shack, and however, if you want damn good burgers, and to save money on that meal, you should go to Five Guys. Also, Five Guys is the one with endless free peanuts, which you can have as a free side instead of french fries. That saves still more money. This is a nice, helpful Five Guys; a good place to go. ------------------------------------------ I just moved to Reston (from Chantilly), and I came to *this* Five Guys, for the first time, tonight for a meal. WOO! The Reston Five Guys is now open - and it's in WALKING DISTANCE OF ME! Not that I'll ever actually walk it, but that's neither here nor there. So the placement of this Five Guys is phenomenal. On one side of it is a Fitness First, where you can work out and burn off all the calories you're about to consume. On the other side is a CVS, where you can purchase your Lactaid/antacids/Alli to deal with the after-effects of downing 3000 kCals in a meal. Aside from all this, it's got the same burgers and amazing fries fried in 100% peanut oil that every single other Five Guys has. Five stars for the proximity of crazy awesome burgers and fries to my residence and to the convenience of ancillary establishments (read: gym and drugstore). I don't normally eat hamburgers often. but when I do it's gotta be Five Guys. Their burger is super tasty and juicy and you can customize it. The regular burger comes with two patties which is probably way more beef than one can digest but it's so darn good you can't go for the small burger. Even their hotdogs are good. They slice it in half so it fits in the bun nicely and flat to put toppings on. My son gets that and he loves it. The fries are delicious but just remember one order of fries can feed two people. A large fry can feed about 3-4. haha. Anyways, Five Guys is just awesome and taste so good and the price is cheap for such an amazing burger. :) read more

This is a bad and good spot for me. Working in this plaza it's so hard to walk by 5 guys and not be mesmorized by the smell of greasy fries. I mean honestly, you do a double take like damn I really shouldn't....buuuut maybe I'll just work out extra hard tomorrow? 50/50 chance I walk in or I tell myself to keep walking and get a boring salad from Whole Foods. Yeah I'll get some lettuce, it'll just be covered in a juicy patty with cheese and bbq sauce. Same thing almost! They never disappoint here, it's consistent great food every time. Even when it's super busy, they get food out pretty fast and it's always right. And yes it does get super busy around 12-130. I usually place my order online and bring it back to my office. Either way you're going to wait because they don't pack your fries until you get there, so its fresh and hot. Friendly employees too who are always smile at the register. Came here on a Friday night after having to drive to Walter Reed for an MRI. Staff is very friendly. While waiting in line to place my order, one of the cooks asked what I was going to order so that he could go ahead and get it started. To me, that shows that you care more than your average burger cook. Cashier was friendly too. What I really like about Five Guys, besides the freshness of the burgers, is their fresh fries made from actual potatoes. The soda machine at this location is pretty cool too. It's one of those touch screen machines with about 20 drinks to choose from. I also really enjoy their free peanuts while I wait for my food; makes the time pass quickly. My food was ready in about 5 minutes, maybe 6. Plenty of available condiments. The only thing I don't like about Five Guys is that they don't cook the burgers to order, but I guess we can't have everything. Overall, pretty good location. read more

I don't usually review fast food chains, but I really like this Five Guys and always come here when I'm waiting for my prescriptions at CVS next door. Five Guys arguably makes the best burger and fries out of any fast food place. Their hot dogs rule too. Only con is that it's a little pricey - almost $10 for a double bacon cheeseburger, so that's nearly restaurant price. Give them a beer/wine license and we are all set. read more

I agree that the food is absolutely delicious but I contest that this location had quick service, at least during the evening hours. Burgers are basically fine, though I'd love to get one that's not cooked past well done (I know this is company policy). My gripe is that their fry portions--that used to be enormous--are now small enough to qualify as a rip-off. I ordered a bacon burger and small cajun fries. The person the burger was ordered for does not eat American Cheese on anything due to health reasons, so this was a purposeful move to avoid the cheese. Unfortunately the bacon burger came with exactly that, American Cheese. Everything else was correct, albeit, quite cold. Ovens can fix temperature, but there's nothing I can do about a slice of cheese melted between the two patties. Waste of an order, and I'll be sure to let anyone else know before ordering from this 5 Guys. Unacceptable overlook of an order inlight of a global pandemic. We try to support business, and in turn are disserviced. Warnings will be passed along to those I know in the area. Fries are also very cold, but I blame UberEats for that. Cheese is on y'all. Ok. This is my second bad experience at this location. Never has been that good in my opinion. They make the worst fries ever!!!!!! always greasy and the fries are average length of 1" inch!!!! $15 burger meal... Hmm... I can justify that for Shake Shack (maybe), but not sure for Five Guys. Honestly, Shake Shack costs almost $20 for the same set and I think that's too much. I'm an In-n-Out guy so I'd rather do their triple meal for $7, and have trouble grasping that any good burger should cost twice that. That's probably not fair, since one can argue that Five Guys (and Shake Shack) offer a more "substantial" burger. It is big, with 2 thick patties & plenty of bacon. Fries are plenty for one order, and drinks are free refills. You order at the counter, they call your number, you go pick it up. Just like any other fast food restaurant. So 2 complaints with this deal: 1) The burger is okay. I don't love the taste of the patties, but everything is fresh. 2) It's almost $6 to "add" fries and drink to make it a "meal". Why so much more than In-n-Out? I think their "combo" costs extra $3 or so. What makes up that difference? Nothing that I can notice. Same complaint with Shake Shack. The conclusion is, Five Guys serves an okay-tasting, fresh burger in a fast food setting for an inflated price. In-n-Out's service runs rings around both chains. At least Shake Shack's burgers are delicious. But even with them, I'm thinking about shaving a star off from my initial 5-star rating. Am I just too spoiled with In-n-Out? read more
