I visited GoldMiss and the HMart food court on a Monday night and both were very busy. Many of the food stalls in the food court area have kiosks for ordering. That makes it easy to scroll through options, pick what you want, and pay. The challenge was that it wasn't updated with which donut flavors were still available. The donut that I ordered via the kiosk was no longer available so the person behind the counter had to walk me through what was available so I could choose one of those. The food took a little longer than I thought it might but I was able to people watch in the bustling food court area. No matter which stall you order from, your number and restaurant is called out via an automated system. Once I got my potato corn dog, I was able to add whatever sauces I liked at the counter. They included mustard, sweet and spicy, supreme, spicy mayo, and one more that I think I'm forgetting. Overall the corndog was tasty. Super crispy on the outside and, as a sauce lover, the sauces were great. Very classic Korean corn dog and delicious. The mango donut was delicious too. So light with a wonderful flavor. I'm a sucker for this food and would definitely return. read more

We got the spicy ramen cheese dog which was pretty overpriced for what we got (around $10 with tip). There was an unusually long wait time, maybe 20 min or so for what we thought would have been fast food. The stick ended up breaking but at least we had it inside the little boat/plate thing so it wouldn't fall on the table in the food hall. We had to ask for the plate later, which would have been helpful to have it already in the bag, but it also ended up being useful to add the sauces in there. We thought the mozzarella cheese was pretty good but the outside was just ok. The ramen seemed to be the cheapest kind they had and just crushed it over top. It also wasn't spicy at all, it seemed like it was plain ramen. The spicy sauce in the squeeze bottle was pretty good. Maybe next time we'll try a mochi donut or bubble tea. I'm not kidding when I say this was the best decision for a post work meal ever. I ordered the Sweet Potato cheddar cheese hotdog with Mayochup as dip- it was genuinely incredible. Upon arriving at this esteemed establishment humbly sat in the Fairfax HMart, I was greeted by the kindest soul at the front desk. She was extremely helpful and gave both helpful recommendations and descriptions of the menu items. Even though this place is bustling, service is always friendly and I received my corndog within minutes. The initial bite was simply extravagant. Hot and fresh, my mouth was engulfed in the light, crunchy batter, leaving a satisfying bite. The hotdog and mozzarella complimented the potato batter well, begging me to keep going. We were looking for a late lunch on a Saturday in Fairfax so we decided to head to the food hall in H-Mart. We haven't been before but have heard a lot about it. They had a lot of options on their menu but we went with one we've seen a lot, the potato + cheddar. There was a little bit of a wait because of the amount of orders and they make them to order which I love. When they came out they were super hot. The potato and batter were very crispy and they use a great hot dog in Nathan's all beef dogs. We also ordered a half dozen mochi donuts to go as well. We only were able to try the black sesame one but it was pretty good. Each mochi ball was bigger than other mochi donuts I've seen in the area but the black sesame flavor was subtle. I had never heard of them until someone posted on the nova subreddit page about mochi donuts, and since H-Mart is right down the street from work, I had to go check this place out. I got the churro mochi donut. If you've never had a mochi donut you're in for a treat. Once you bite in it assumes the texture of a yeast donut, but then you start chewing and it quickly turns into a heavy doughy consistency. If they fry these in oil you'd never know (sometimes you can taste the oil in a donut). I enjoyed it, but I'm not huge on how the donut turns doughy (I understand that's the style though; after all, it IS a mochi donut). Gangnam Hot-Dog is located in the food court of the fairfax hmart. they're menu is super small and they have a sign that clearly states what is inside of what you'd like to order as well as some actual (plastic) examples under glass. No surprises here! First I have to say, the workers here are taking good care to wipe down tables as soon as people leave, it seems like each booth watches over a few tables in front of their shop. My son and I ordered an "origiinal" dog which is half mozzarella and half hot dog on the inside. It took a few minutes to make, but not long at all considering they are making it fresh and handing it to you immediately so it is still hot and melty! This is the first time I had tried one of these. The corndog type snack was heavy and when I took a bite, filled with that cheesy goodness. The outside is a bit sweet which I wasn't expecting, but it blended well with the salty mozzarella and hot dog on the inside. Came with a choice of mustard or ketchup like a corn dog and I really liked it with mustard. There's only one person running the stand, so it took awhile to make the two hot dogs especially with a couple other orders ahead of us. The mozzarella hotdog has a small piece of hotdog and the rest is a block of mozzarella. Was not a big fan of the batter, it tasted kind of like yeasty with a beer flavor. The hotdog itself was crispy, but the taste kind of threw me off. The cheese inside wasn't as gooey as I would have liked. To be honest, I was a little wishy-washy in trying this place out, as I know that Korean-style hot dogs (and, other Korean-style street food) usually involve being sprinkled or rolled in sugar. The menu is of a variety, such as the Original, Potato & Mozzarella, Spicy, Sweet Potato, etc. I decided to go for the Potato & Cheddar Cheese, and it took about 5 minutes or so for it to be made-to-order. The concoction is definitely 'large' in size, but I was happy to find that the sausage that they used wasn't too 'thick' - the exterior was pretty tasty, as it was a batter with cubed potatoes, and wrapped around the sausage seemed to have been a slice of cheese that melted when you bit in. There was definitely sprinkling of a generous amount of sugar, so I'm curious if I can just request for none the next time. Either way, I still gobbled it up! Also, the stick had the dog securely in place, so I appreciated that! Don't forget to ask for the spicy mayo that pairs with this version well - there are also the usual condiments, such as mustard and ketchup. A random food hall... in H-Mart!?!? A handful of Korean restaurant stands offering Korean fried chicken and other Korean Street food type of meals. Out of all of them, Gangnam Hot-Dog stood out as it was a very unique type of food I haven't seen at other spots in Northern Virginia. My favorite here was the corn dog covered in French fries which was lightly sweet and salty. As you bite in, you'll get a big heap of mozzarella which is super stretchy and attractive. Such a fun type of Korean Street food culture now available in Fairfax. Now this may be a bit too much cheese for daily intake, but I'll definitely come back when I'm craving something crispy and cheesy. On a Saturday morning, our Korean class "toured" and bought items from H-Mart with the assistance of our Professor. After the shopping trip, we stopped in the food court. Several of us choose to purchase MOCHI Donuts. I think my biggest disappointment was the whole-wheat dough: it took away from the hot dogs more than adding anything, because the wheaty flavor was so strong. I wish it had been even a plain white dough, or corn dog as they do at some places in Korea. To be short and to the point, I honestly was not a fan of either dogs we ordered. We had the potato and mozzarella hotdogs. Recently returned from Korea and having tried various different kinds of Korean hotdogs, I was disappointed at the overall flavor as well as the breading. Think they're using whole wheat instead of white, which for sure, healthier, but it does detract from the taste, or the expected taste, for me. Potato was the better of the two, especially because the mozzarella is half filled with the cheese and half with the dog, so you're really not getting a full bite with both the dog and the mozzarella unfortunately.
