Stood at the desk until 8:10 before getting acknowledged. 8 on-site orders went through before mine and it was only a small burger and small Cajun french fry for the order. Most Five Guys are great. I've visited this one four times in the past three months. This is a very bad Five Guys. I write this tough, detailed review in sincere hope that management of the Rochester, MN Five Guys improves their store. They have a LOT to improve. +++++++++++++ First thing I notice is that the latch on one of the two front doors is still broken. This Five Guys doesn't care. One Five Guys gimmicks is a handwritten sign showing where the potatoes used in the fries are from. As ever, this Five Guys' sign is blank. This Five Guys doesn't care. There's no line, so I walk right up to the counter. An older man walks to the counter and stares at me. Says nothing, just stares. Rude. I order a hamburger, a little fry, and a fountain drink. $17.49. Five Guys can be good, and is certainly upscale from McDonald's. But that's a lot for a burger, fries, and a coke. To make it more expensive, their credit card machine asks me how much I want to tip. I know this is a growing thing at counter service places. But I'm not a fan, and think it degrades actual service at sit-down restaurants. So maybe this is more about me than about Five Guys. But I don't like it. After ordering, I tried to use the men's room. It was locked, so I assume someone was using it. I sat in the hallway and never saw anyone leave, I only saw disappointed men return after discovering like I did that it was locked. When I left, it was still locked. I then tried to get my soda. The store has two fountains. As on prior visits, the one on the left doesn't produce ice. It'll probably never be fixed. Because fixing requires caring. Five Guys advertising used to boast about having Coca Cola's Freestyle soda machines. I've never seen one here. Who cares. The sodas at this Five Guys are ALWAYS really flat. They don't care. Five Guys food is catsup-friendly: they sell hamburgers and french fries. Other Five Guys allow their customers to get cups of catsup through a pump dispenser. Here, there's a dirty box of small catsup packets. This Five Guys doesn't care. I ordered (and paid for) a hamburger. Not a cheeseburger, because I prefer hamburgers. I get a cheeseburger. I'm sure it would have been corrected if I brought it to their attention, but I shouldn't have to. They should just get it right. I wish you cared, Five Guys of Rochester. But you don't. I tried calling several times...no luck. Then I thought I could have our order delivered so I filled out the order and then I got a message that they don't use a delivery service! Prior to COVID, I traveled often for work. I have enjoyed many Five Guys throughout the country. This is my only negative experience. Stopped traveling home. Ordered through the app. Arrived at the store and waited about 20 minutes past our pickup time. Not a big deal since they were busy. Finally got our food and headed home. My son opened his hot dog and could not eat it. It was charred and hard as a rock. My burger was pretty crispy too, but had toppings so it was edible. We've eaten at many Five Guys across the U. S. and this is by far the worst experience we've ever had. While we were waiting I noticed on the receipt that the order was wrong so I told the cashier. She initially tried to argue with me about what my husband ordered but did agree to fix it. When we got the food, mine was cold, missing the mushrooms, lettuce and mayo and my husbands was missing onions and had bacon that we specifically asked to fix when I spoke to the cashier. I spoke to the manager Robert and he said there was nothing he could do but give us a couple of free shakes. Sorry but how does that fix $32 worth of food we can't eat? Good greasy burgers! Add as many toppings as you want for no extra charge. Fries aren't my favorite but still good, kind of soggy but they are hand cut and they have malt vinegar to dip them in! The burgers are good, although very heavy and greasy, so if that isn't your thing, I'd stick with a hot dog when you visit. We don't go to Five Guys often and know when we do, it is an indulgence. The "little" burger is a single patty and plenty for me, but the "regular" burger is two patties and can be a lot. We usually just order one fry for the both of us because there are always plenty of extra bag fries. The service is usually good and food comes out quickly. You can see everything they are cooking and I like the transparency so I can see how clean the kitchen is. We've eaten in and taken out and had good experiences both ways. Obviously I have had Five Guys before. I like my burgers BIG. Most burgers taste good to me, so higher size per dollar the better. If I want to pay a lot for a high quality burger, I would go with Shake Shack. Lowest price for meh burger would be In N Out. Five Guys sits right in the middle. We waited over 30 minutes alongside 10 other people for our 2 burgers, watching a dozen half-made orders sitting on the prep table. When we asked the girl about the delay and pointed out the semi-constructed burgers sitting out and getting cold, she apologized, stating they were short-staffed. I'm sure it's hard to keep up with just 3 people in one kitchen, but *please, please, please* finish an order before starting the next one instead of letting everyone's burgers get cold. My two kids came with so I was worried that there were no options for them. In reality, they have hot dogs, smaller burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches. My first trip to this place. Awesome. The staff behind the counter were very friendly and explained the menu to me since I had no clue what to expect. I ordered a Bacon Burger with a side of Cajun fries. While I waited, I grabbed a tub of free peanuts. Probably the best peanuts in a shell I've had in a while. The place as busier than a whorehouse on payday, but my food was done surprisingly quick. I took my greasy bag of food and sat at one of the few empty tables in the place. I give this restaurant credit, as soon as a table was empty, a crew member cleaned it for the next guest. It was nice not to sit at a ketchup covered table and have to peel my butt off a sticky stool when done. When I opened the bag..... holy crap the portions!!!!
