IMHO, this is the best coffee shop in Angola. The coffee is great and the servers are even better. The entire team is always laughing and having fun and they have a wide age demographic on the team. It's great to see and sets the mood for the experience. The interior is well decorated and stylish. The scones are my favorite and I've not had a bad coffee there ever in the past 5 years. I really enjoyed the latte I had here! I went with an iced SF vanilla and cinnamon latte with almond milk. The flavors complimented each other and nothing was overpowering. I'm in the area for a hockey game and found this amazing place right down the street from Thunder Ice Arena. It was so much bigger then I expected and the service was exceptional!!! Inside was so clean and nicely decorated. I was greeted right away and when they found out I was a first timer the nice lady started making recommendations. I ended up with a breakfast sandwich and a large coffee. The egg and cheese bagel was AMAZING. It was fresh and the bagel was perfect! This place blows Starbucks and Biggby away!! I love the set up of this place. We stop by here after seeing a huge party for car show one weekend. They offer good coffee here and refreshing iced tea. Not a fan of the pastries though. Nevertheless, it is a good alternative to grab a drink or hang out to do work online. read more

Pricing structure is horrible. 2 years ago they had a small 12 oz iced drink for 3.86. 18 months later it was 5.85. 2 months ago changed the small to a 16 oz drink as a small and raised the price to 6.35. Now the small is a 20oz and it is 6.85. Messages him to voice concerns and was told it was to stay up with the market. Local Starbucks and found they offer the same drinks and in a small and for less than their price at five Lakes. It is simply a means to generate revenue by forcing your customers to pay more for something they don't want. Offered me a gift card for the hassle and I declined. read more

Picture this: it's 8:50 PM and the coffee shop I got off the highway for is temporarily closed, even though they didn't bother to update their hours online. I scrambled to find another place to get some caffeine before getting back on the highway, preferably without driving further out of the way. The only other place in town, Five Lakes Coffee, was closing in 10 minutes. I decide to gamble and hoped that I could squeeze in an order of chai, arriving only five minutes before close. And boy was I in luck! The staff was pleasant and speedy. Coobie got me my tea without a hitch, even though I inconsiderately arrived so close to closing time! That man should get a raise. Lovely little coffee shop we visit every time we're in town. However today we were disappointed and disheartened to have our order taken by a young lady who had her mask barely covering her mouth and with no plexiglass shield in place. Thankfully the rest of the baristas were appropriately masked even though they were not face to face with the public. We're not from this area so maybe it is "normal" to have an unmarked couple order coffee and then proceed to speak to a barista barely 2 feet away for quite some time. I was appalled and discouraged. My husband ordered the light roast coffee and, after one sip, ordered a 32 oz bag of their Tanzania coffee! Hubs had a bagel with sausage and egg, I had bacon and egg. I just went into five lakes, and I'm very shocked. Wasn't even greeted when walked in, a girl named Avery made my drink and I noticed she used whole milk instead of the oat milk. So I asked her politely if she could remake it. She then rolled her eyes at me and proceeded to remake it. Then when she handed it to me, she said "here" and walked away. Had a distinctly unpleasant visit to the Battle Creek store. I purchased a travel mug from the Meier's that houses the cafe. On the menu, there's a "coffee refill. 94 cents" the minor at the register tried to charge me full price ignoring my questions about the menu. His dad (the minor called him as such) completely ignored me as well until I started raising my voice when he finally explained that it was refills for a cup purchased that day.. I went ahead and purchased the refill do my mug at the price of a small regular cup. I shouldn't have rewarded their rudeness with a purchase, but I needed a cup. I worked at the Angola store for almost 4 years. I was wrote up for the first time a few weeks ago, due to rumors. I was told that I was "bullying" which was totally shocking, because I didn't bully anyone. A few coworkers just didn't like me for whatever reason and wanted to get me fired. It was good 3 years ago when I started off, but as soon as they hired the manager they have now things are going down hill. The pay is terrible, and you also will probably never get breaks. Unless you're working nights. I would work 8 hours with no breaks at all. They also started scheduling me less and less hours. When they found out I was leaving they couldn't care less, it almost seemed like they were happy I was leaving. They're turn over for employees is terrible, more and more are quitting. And they keep firing people for no reason. So if you're a regular expect to see less and less employees you loved to see. ` read more

My family and I are from the West coast where coffee is a big thing and new trends are always coming in. We love coffee and really wanted to find a nice place while we were on vacation on Lake James. We decided to try out Five Lakes. The interior is definitely nice and updated. Plenty of space to sit down and work if the tables weren't closed because of COVID. The coffee was less than great though. Apparently they roast their own beans but everything tasted burnt and overly sweet. The wait time was also very long considering how many staff they had working at the time. She was extremely rude to us and basically threw our coffee at us. Friendly staff, great, spacious interior with tons of seating. We ordered drinks and bagels, all of which were sensational. The smoothies were the bomb, the tea was tasty and the latte was not super sweet which was refreshing. This is a great coffee house. However, it would behoove the organization as a whole to think about really training their staff. Not always knowledgable & this goes for all locations. 1. A London fog is an Early Grey tea latte. However, A tea latte does NOT mean it is a London fog. They are not interchangeable. 2. Tea will steep in ANY hot liquid. You could put it in soup if it was hot enough & it will steep. Don't be afraid of putting a tea bag into steamed milk...not only is it delicious, it will steep JUST as though you were putting it into hot water. read more
