We had a good experience here. Service was excellent. I liked the supper club vibe of the place lots of tables for seating. I chose a local white wine from Satel which was delicious. For my meal, I chose the small ribeye steak. It came with choice of veggie or potato and I chose the veggie special which was roasted brussel sprouts with bacon. You also got a starter salad with the meal. The food was just ok. My steak was tender and tasty but cut really thin which wasn't what I was used to. The brussel sprouts were cut up and were a bit dry. The starter salad was good. I wish the food was a notch better because everything else about the experience was excellent

A local go-to and a visitor must-try, Timbers is THE place! If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere with kind staff and a good meal check it out! Very close to Trine and the Wingate! -The Angola Dish

Great food and good service. Waitress was attentive without being annoying. Steak and lobster was amazing.

Small off the road location. Bit of an older style restaurant and bar. Not bad food. A little pricey.

Food isn't bad service sucks. Wouldn't recommend if your in a hurry takes forever for a couple sandwiches and a salad to come out.

Thanks to the dishwasher we were welcomed and provided with glasses of ice water long before our…read moreserver appeared and our drink orders were taken. Kudos to him for observing and responding to the fact that we were seated and not yet greeted by our server. And yet, his attention to the situation is a check in the plus column for a decent restaurant that was unfortunately, seriously under staffed when we stopped by for dinner recently. It seems that the owner or manager was essentially handing ALL of the front of the house duties, as well as tending the bar -- greeting, seating, waiting on the table, making and serving drinks, running food, and handing payment at the end of the night. A child, apparently the owner/manager's daughter occasionally bussed some tables and strutted around wielding a fly swatter (though fortunately I didn't see any flies--but there was outdoor seating). I could only see one person in the kitchen (there could have been another but I'm not sure). All in all it meant everything was S-L-O-W. That said, we were the perfect group for the situation--a bunch of Boomer college friends fully engaged in conversation and reminiscing about the good old days -- which compensated -- to some degree -- the time we waited for service. Well, eventually things got rolling. Our drink order was taken along with an appetizer for the table. The drinks arrived after a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the house version of an old fashioned made with a bourbon distilled at a local/regional distillery. Tasty -- my only nitpick -- such drinks should be served with a LARGE chunk of ice, not a scoop of cubes from the ice machine. The appetizer for the table was the house crab dip -- an excellent choice for sharing and the flavor was spot on. For my entree I chose the lamb "lollipops." The three or four lamb chops were perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and unctuous -- really unctuous since the fat cap was not trimmed -- but as a great food critic once said, "meat without fat is dead protein -- so in short, the meat was bursting with flavor. The asparagus were nicely roasted. The sauce was rich and garlicky (thanks to confit cloves of garlic). It complemented the gaminess of the lamb perfectly, but the amount of sauce a bit more than necessary for a truly balanced composed dish. I still enjoyed it immensely and would order it again. (By the way, I was able to sample my wife's tuna. The 3/16 of an inch sear on the tuna was perfect and the rare interior was exactly how tuna should be cooked.) The owner/manager was appropriately apologetic about the pace of service and I will say that she, and the kitchen, did their best under the circumstances. As I mentioned, we were a good group because our goal was time together, not precisely timed service. I would hope another couple of employees could rectify the slow service and build their clientele because the food is quite good, the location is excellent and I loved the decor, especially the vintage outboard motors including one or two designed by the great industrial designer Brooks Stevens from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Run!!!! as far as you can from this place!!! Billed as fine dining....what a joke. The manager/…read morewaitress must have trained in a dive bar....so unprofessional and rude. I think she thought she was funny. Food was ho-hum..... was even afraid to give the left overs to the dog. Charged extra for butter and never told the vegetable substitution would be an upcharge. Who does that!! I don't mind an expensive meal if the service is good and the food is outstanding but you are not going to find the latter here.

Big Eyed Fish on Wells Street - when you have a craving for Fish & Stroh style fish and tarter…read moresauce Yes, I know that I could go to Stroh to get this old time flavor. However, Big Eyed Fish is pretty good fish in its own right, local...and flavored like the taste I remember from the past. We visited the Big Eyed Fish location on Well's street. They have an express shop located on Huegenard Road and another dine in location at Leo Crossing. This location has been in service since 2003. It has a nice diner feel with super friendly service. You can find parking on the street or in the lot behind the store. The inside is rather large and works well for parties up to about 8 diners. There is a small bar and TV's if that is your thing. They also have a big and varied menu including breakfast items. Here is a run down of the food items: -Fried Fish: the white fish fillet is thin and fried with a thin breading. The fish is moist and tender. It will flake apart with a fork or by hand. The breading has a slight amount of seasoning and isn't very oily to taste. It has a taste similar to the Fish & Stroh style if you are familiar with that. The fillets are not very filling. For an extra $3...I went with the all you can eat option. Delicious fish! -Tarter Sauce: I love tarter sauce. In fact I might order fish to go with my tarter sauce - lol. This mayo based sauce is reasonably thick, somewhat sweet and has a hint of pickle flavoring. It's creamy and makes a perfect complement to the fried fish flavor. -Baked Beans: this side really surprised me. The bean is small and contained hamburger pieces. The sauce had a slight BBQ flavor but not enough to classify it as a BBQ baked bean dish. The meat flavor was a nice add to the smooth tomato spiced sauce. Delicious!! -Cole Slaw: I kind of use KFC as the standard for Cole Slaw. This is very similar. The slaw pieces are cut very small with only one kind of slaw. Seemingly no additives - just slaw. The sauce is mayo based, a bit more sweet along with a hint of vinegar. I loved this side too! -Hush Puppies: these balls are pretty small in diameter. The inside is very modista and sweet with that southern style corn bread taste. The outside is thicker, a bit oily to taste and has a mild corn bread taste/texture. These are probably some of the best hush puppies I've had in my southern raised life.
